Although the time dependences of the electrocatalytic activities of Pt and Pd nanoparticles during electrochemical operations have been widely studied, the time dependences under nonpolarized conditions have never been investigated in depth. This study reports the changes in the electrocatalytic activities of Pt and Pd nanoparticles with aging in air and in solution. Pt (or Pd) nanoparticle-modified electrodes are obtained by adsorbing citrate-stabilized Pt (or Pd) nanoparticles on amine-modified indium-tin oxide (ITO) electrodes, or by electrodeposition of Pt (or Pd) nanoparticles on ITO electrodes. The electrocatalytic activities of freshly prepared Pt and Pd nanoparticles in the oxygen reduction reaction slowly decrease with aging. The electrocatalytic activities decrease more slowly in solution than in air. An increase in surface contamination may cause electrocatalytic deactivation during aging. The electrocatalytic activities of long-aged Pt (or Pd) nanoparticles are significantly enhanced and recovered by NaBH4 treatment.

In this paper, we have studied for analysis of the partial discharge(PD) signal in underground transmission line. The PD signal has estimated as detected signal accumulation of a PRPDA method by using Labview, and analyzed with fuzzy algorithm. In our algorithm, we developed system configuration that detected accumulating PD signal using by Labview and programmed fuzzy algorithm can be analyzed the PD signal using with Matlab. With practical PD logic implementation of theoretical detected system and hardware implementation, the device for Hipotronics Company's 50kV setup has generated and then has applied with $15k{\sim}17kV$ with 1:1 time probe. It's also used the LDPE 0.27mmt (scratch error 0.05mmt) to sample for making PD. In conclusion, Our new class of PD detected algorithm has also compared with previous PRPDA or Fuzzy algorithm. which has diagnose more conveniently by adding numerical values.

In order to recognize the deterioration of insulation system by partial discharge (PD), the characteristics of PD patterns which are occurring at the interface between epoxy and rubber materials in extra high voltage cable joints, have been investigated. The artificial defects such as voids, metal particles, insulation fiber and water impregnated insulation fiber are planted between the interfaces. A high frequency partial discharge detection system was used for measuring PD signals. An analysis of the PD patterns is focused on the shape of PD pattern, phase, width and time-dependence for each artificial defect. The PD Patterns in each defect show the different behaviors and it is suggested that the precise discrimination of PD patterns could be used for the diagnosis of deterioration in the insulation systems.
High voltage induction motor is the important equipment for ensuring the driving performance of the electric train. PD(partial discharge) is a good indicator for showing the insulation performance of stator coil in HV induction motor. This paper has investigated the characteristics of PD occurrence aspects for both the sound and defective stator coil which consist of maximum PD amplitude(V), total occurrence number, average PD amplitude(V) and PD amplitude(v) - PD occurrence number(n). They were compared with each other depending on applied voltages and reconstructed to $60{\times}60$ matrices of PD amplitude(v)-occurrence phase (${\phi}$)-occurrence number(n) which is the good way to estimate the PD sources in stator coil.
The objective of this research is to utilize the ultrasonic method to analyze the property of partial discharge (PD) which is generated by the winding of the insulation stator in the generator. Therefore, a PD measurement system is built based on ultrasonic and virtual instruments. Three types of PD models (internal PD model, surface PD model and slot PD model) have been constructed. With the analysis of these experimental results, this research has identified the ultrasonic signals of the discharges which were produced by three types of PD models. This analysis shows the different features among these PD types. Both the time domain and frequency domain of the ultrasonic signals are obviously different. In addition, an experiment based on a large rotating machine has been done to analyze ultrasonic noises. The result indicates that the ultrasonic noises can be wiped off by the filters and algorithms. The application of this system is convenient for the detection of early signs of insulation failure, which is an effective method for diagnosis of insulation faults.
In order to study the development of partial discharge (PD) under typical protrusion defects in gas-insulated switchgear, we applied step voltages on the defect and obtained the ${\varphi}-u$ and ${\varphi}-n$ spectrograms of ultra-high frequency (UHF) PD signals in various PD stages. Furthermore, we extracted seven kinds of features to characterize the degree of deterioration of insulation and analyzed their values, variation trends, and change rates. These characteristics were inconsistent with the development of PD. Hence, the differences of these features could describe the severity of PD. In addition, these characteristics could provide integrated characteristics regarding PD development and improve the reliability of PD severity assessment because these characteristics were extracted from different angles. To explain the variation laws of these seven kinds of parameters, we analyzed the relevant physical mechanism by considering the microphysical process of PD formation and development as well as the distortion effect generated by the space charges on the initial field. The relevant physical mechanism effectively allocated PD severity among these features for assessment, and the effectiveness and reliability of using these features to assess PD severity were proved by testing a large number of PD samples.

Programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) is a coinhibitory molecule and plays a pivotal role in immune regulation. Here, we demonstrate a role for PD-1 in pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Wild-type (WT) mice had severe wasting disease during experimentally induced colitis, while mice deficient for PD-1 ($PD-1^{-/-}$) did not develop colon inflammation. Interestingly, $PD-1^{-/-}$ mice cohoused with WT mice became susceptible to colitis, suggesting that resistance of $PD-1^{-/-}$ mice to colitis is dependent on their gut microbiota. 16S rRNA gene-pyrosequencing analysis showed that $PD-1^{-/-}$ mice had altered composition of gut microbiota with significant reduction in Rikenellaceae family. These altered colon bacteria of $PD-1^{-/-}$ mice induced less amount of inflammatory mediators from colon epithelial cells, including interleukin (IL)-6, and inflammatory chemokines. Taken together, our study indicates that PD-1 expression is involved in the resistance to experimental colitis through altered bacterial communities of colon.

The Pd/NiCr gate MISFET-type sensors were fabricated for detecting hydrogen dissolved in high-capacivity transformer oil. To improve stability and high concentration sensitivity of the sensor, Pd/NiCr double catalysis metal gate was used. To reduce the serious gate voltage drift of the sensor induced by hydrogen, the gate insulators of 2 FETs were constructed with double layer of silicon dioxide and silicon nitride. The hydrogen sensitivity of the Pd/NiCr gate MISFET is about a half of Pd/Pt gate MISFET's sensitivity but the Pd/NiCr gate MISFET has good stability and high concentration detectivity up to 1000 ppm.
Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, and 5-10% of the PD cases are genetically inherited as familial PD (FPD). LRRK2 (leucine-rich repeat kinase 2) was first reported in 2004 as a gene corresponding to PARK8, an autosomal gene whose dominant mutations cause familial PD. LRRK2 contains both active kinase and GTPase domains as well as protein-protein interaction motifs such as LRR (leucine-rich repeat) and WD40. Most pathogenic LRRK2 mutations are located in either the GTPase or kinase domain, implying important roles for the enzymatic activities in PD pathogenic mechanisms. In comparison to other PD causative genes such as parkin and PINK1, LRRK2 exhibits two important features. One is that LRRK2's mutations (especially the G2019S mutation) were observed in sporadic as well as familial PD patients. Another is that, among the various PD-causing genes, pathological characteristics observed in patients carrying LRRK2 mutations are the most similar to patients with sporadic PD. Because of these two observations, LRRK2 has been intensively investigated for its pathogenic mechanism (s) and as a target gene for PD therapeutics. In this review, the general biochemical and molecular features of LRRK2, the recent results of LRRK2 studies and LRRK2's therapeutic potential as a PD target gene will be discussed.
It is well known that the PD (Partial Discharge) signals are generated if insulators have some defects such as voids in electrical facility and various PD detection methods are developed for preventing electrical troubles. So, an interest for the PD signals is higher and higher according to the high concern for the defects detection method of the aging electrical facility. When the equipment to detect PD signals installed at site and it works, a lot of noises flow in the equipment from surrounding situation and it will be mixed with original PD waveform. So we can not get the desired PD waveform. Therefore, there are many trial to reject or suppress the noise from the PD signals from long times ago. The greater of them used the hardware such as bridge circuits and frequency filters to suppress the noise. This paper proposed a novel noise rejection method in acquired data from PD detection equipment. The noise has the irregular phase and higher signal level than real PD, and noise decision is performed after inspection of pulse distribution in ${\Phi}$-q-n graph of acquired data from PD detection equipments. By experimental results on high voltage electric equipments, it is shown that proposed method has good performance. It is expected that this noise rejection technology is useful in numeric calculation and trend management of PD level.
