Academic analytics guides university decision-makers to assign limited resources more effectively. Especially, diverse academic courses clustered by the usage patterns and levels on Learning Management System(LMS) help understanding instructors' pedagogical approach and the integration level of technologies. Further, the clustering results can contribute deciding proper range and levels of financial and technical supports. However, in spite of diverse analytic methodologies, clustering analysis methods often provide different results. The purpose of this study is to present implications by using three different clustering analysis including Gaussian Mixture Model, K-Means clustering, and Hierarchical clustering. As a case, we have clustered academic courses based on the usage levels and patterns of LMS in higher education using those three clustering techniques. In this study, 2,639 courses opened during 2013 fall semester in a large private university located in South Korea were analyzed with 13 observation variables that represent the characteristics of academic courses. The results of analysis show that the strengths and weakness of each clustering analysis and suggest that academic leaders and university staff should look into the usage levels and patterns of LMS with more elaborated view and take an integrated approach with different analytic methods for their strategic decision on development of LMS.

Owing to generalization of design competitions and BTL since 2000s, fresh ideas and concepts had never seen before tried positively. As a result, school design methods in Korea has been more developing. Therefore, to analyze ideas that have been proposed in competitions is important to help developments, for the layout patterns of elementary school designs in the future. Based on these context this study is the most important purpose for analyzing and classifying layout patterns in prizewinners of elementary school design competitions As a result of the analysis, the layout patterns are classified into 8 types : 1) ㄱ type, 2) ㄷ type, 3) ㅁ type, 4) F type, 5) P type, 6) 工 type, 7) ㅌ type, 8) free type.
Sequential pattern mining has become an essential task with broad applications. Most sequential pattern mining algorithms use a minimum support threshold to prune the combinatorial search space. This strategy provides basic pruning; however, it cannot mine correlated sequential patterns with similar support and/or weight levels. If the minimum support is low, many spurious patterns having items with different support levels are found; if the minimum support is high, meaningful sequential patterns with low support levels may be missed. We present a new algorithm, weighted interesting sequential (WIS) pattern mining based on a pattern growth method in which new measures, sequential s-confidence and w-confidence, are suggested. Using these measures, weighted interesting sequential patterns with similar levels of support and/or weight are mined. The WIS algorithm gives a balance between the measures of support and weight, and considers correlation between items within sequential patterns. A performance analysis shows that WIS is efficient and scalable in weighted sequential pattern mining.
Every movement, perception and thought we perform is associated with distinct neural activation patterns. Neurons in the brain communicate with each other by sending electrical impulses that produce currents. These currents give rise to electrical fields that can be measured outside the head. It shows some variation on the electroencephalographic signals. In recent devices, the EEG signals measured from head surface are a sum of all the momentary brain activation. With these EEG signals, it is difficult to distinguish the patterns correlated with a certain event from the signals. However, the system must discriminate some patterns with some events especially for any kind of device as a brain control interface system. In this experiment, the sensory-motor cortex of humans has been extensively studied. Activation related to several movements on both sides of the sensory-motor cortices in imaginary. The activation patterns during imagination of several movements resemble the activation patterns during preparation of movements. The result represents the system based on the optimal filters discriminated at least 60% of mental imageries.
The purpose of this study was to identify the perceptional patterns of Korean traditional food and to compare the preference and intake frequencies of daily traditional Korean food among the identified perceptional patterns in the Yuabian area. Data were collected from 261 Korean housewives in Yanbian and underwent cluster and group mean analysis. The results revealed two different patterns: tradition-oriented vs. modem-oriented. Descriptive statistics showed that perceptional patterns are likely to vary depending on socio-demographic background as well as the preference and intake frequencies of daily traditional food. Similarities and differences in these perceptional patterns, the preference and the intake frequencies of traditional daily food are discussed, and future implications for food nutritionists and Asia marketers are presented.

This paper presents the temporal classification method based on data mining techniques for discovering knowledge from measured load patterns of distribution transformers. Since the power load patterns have time-varying characteristics and very different patterns according to the hour, time, day and week and so on, it gives rise to the uninformative results if only traditional data mining is used. Therefore, we propose a temporal classification rule for analyzing and forecasting transformer load patterns. The main tasks include the load pattern mining framework and the calendar-based expression using temporal association rule and 3-dimensional cube mining to discover load patterns in multiple time granularities.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the Apprehension inclination and Behavioral Patterns in Single Detached Urban Dwellings. For this purpose, a survey was conducted by 200 housewives who live in Daegu. The data were analyzed by using frequencies, percentage, mean, factor analysis, $x^2$ -test. The results of this study are as follows: 1. An-Bang of the Single Detached Urban Dwellings has been still shown traditional Apprehension inclination. 2. 5 types of Behavioral patterns in An-Bang are identified. 5 types of Behavioral patterns are related with Seating style. 3. Apprehension inclination in An-Bang are identified. 5 types of Behavioral Patterns and Seating style.
The purposes of this study are to identify types of fathers who engaged in different patterns of interaction with their children and to examine the characteristics by different fathering patterns. Data are collected from 323 married men with the oldest child under 12 years old, using the structured questionnaire survey method. The major findings of the study are as follows: First, the fathering activities are composed of four factors, which are affective involvement, caretaking, social involvement and discipling. The respondents tend to exhibit the level of fathering activities higher than middle point. Second, using cluster analysis, three types of fathers are categorized: The affective type fathers scored significantly high on dimensions of affective involvement. Whereas the engaged fathers scored the highest on all domains of fathering, the disengaged fathers demonstrated significantly limited involvement. Third, the characteristics which are associated with fathering activities patterns are father's age, job type, work hour, frequency of meetings after work hour, job satisfaction and child rearing attitude. The results of this study suggest several implications to develop parent education program for fathers and their children.

The basic requirements to improve the joints quality of tube-to-tubesheet for heat exchangers are to obtain high residual contact pressures between the tubes and the tubesheet as well as low residual stresses in the transition zone of the tubes. The residual contact pressures and residual stresses which govern the joint quality are influenced by parameters such as material properties, geometric dimension of tube and tubesheet and expansion pressures. There are two types of tube layout patterns, triangular and square, which are frequently used for heat exchangers. The purpose of the present work is to examine the superior tube layout patterns considering the joints quality by comparing numerical results from sensitivity analyses which were performed for both of tube layout patterns.

The purpose of this study was to examine patterns ofmoney management and control of family finances. The data for this study were collected from 311 wives who were currently employed in professional, managerial, and clerical occupation living or employed in Seoul. Frequency, percentage and cross-tab analysis were used to analyze the data. The results were as follows: 1) money management patterns were classified into six types; wife-management pattern, wife-management/husband-alienation pattern, wife-management/husband-involvement patter, joint management pattern, joint/separate mixed pattern, and multi management pattern. Among them wife-mannagement pattern was used most frequencly by the couples. 2) Four family finance control patterns were found and named by joint control, wife control, husband control, and self control. The joint control pattern was found to be the most prevalent one. 3) Money management patterns influenced how family finances were controled.
