Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data which is necessary for educating nursing and medical students for establishing a desirable sense of ethics values Method: In this descriptive research, a total of 140 nursing students and 124 medical students were selected. The tools used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe test by using SPSS/WIN 12.0 version. Result: When the differences in the consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing and medical students were compared, statistically significant differences were found in the category of brain death (t=-3.26, p=.001). Statistically significant differences were found in the general characteristics of religion (F=3.05, p=.018), and participation in religious activity (F=3.34, p=.006). Statistically significant differences were found in the characteristics related to the subjects' ethical values such as satisfaction level of a nurse/doctor (F=7.39, p=.000) occupation, the experience of A Patient's Bill of Rights (F=2.97, p=.020), the intention to attend biomedical ethics (F=5.61, p=.000), and the possibility of increasing ethical problems according to the development in the field of medical science (F=7.92, p=.000). Conclusion: An effort should be made to overcome the differences in the perception of biomedical ethics between nursing students and medical students. Moreover, when investigating the course of an integrated education for the establishment of a desirable sense of biomedical ethics, an alternative plan that could promote ethical values must be considered so that the significant variables can promote bioethical perception.
Purpose: This study was performed to examine the ethical values of EMT students. Method: The results below were based on the revised questionnaires, which can be applicable to EMT from the using questionnaires by Kim(2001), with a sample of 140 students consisting of 50 freshman, 40 sophomore and junior 50, conducted October 9-11, 2006. Data were analyzed using SPSS 13.0 in terms of means and standard deviation, $x^2$-test, one way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis. Results: The ethical value was deontological ethics and statistically significant difference between three groups(F=3.072, p<0.049). Means and standard deviation of freshman is $2.86{\pm}0.28$, sophomore is $2.75{\pm}0.25$, junior is $2.88{\pm}0.21$. In the area of Human life, subjects showed utilitarian disposition. But there were no statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of patient relationship, all students of three groups took on deontological ethics, but there were no statistically significant difference. In the area of task relationship, all students of three groups took on deontological ethics, but there were no statistically significant difference. In the area of coworker relationship, all students of three groups took on deontological ethics, but there were no statistically significant difference. As a results of multiple regresstion analysis, the associated factors with ethical values were second students, participation of ethical education, a firm belief of ethical values. Conclusion: This results showed that education of ethical values must instruct to EMT students. More and more, It is necessary to make an further application tool of EMT.
Objectives: This was a retrospective case series about the clinical effect of integrated approach with behavior therapy for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Methods: Medical records of twelve patients with OSA who were treated with behavior modification including nasal breathing with oral appliances and sleep in lateral position, oral administration of herbal medicines and acupuncture treatment between January and September of 2013 were reviewed. Apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), day time sleepiness, apneas and hypopneas counts during sleep, risk indicator (RI), oxygen desaturation index, average saturation during sleep, lowest desaturation, lowest saturation, snoring events ratio and number of desaturations (%) were assessed before and after treatments with the ApneaLink device, which is a portable diagnostic apparatus for monitoring airflows of the patient's breath at home. Results: After an average 62.67 (SD 37.16) days of treatment, AHI (from 17.67, 12.79 to 8.75, 8.25, p=0.007), RI (from 22.00, 13.26 to 12.09, 8.03, p=0.004), oxygen desaturation index (from 17.33, 12.17 to 8.17, 7.86, p=0.005), and number of desaturations (from 7.00 times, 9.79 to 0.92 times, 1.39, p=0.044) showed significant improvement. Daytime sleepiness improved from 6.5 (3.2) to 3.8 (1.8) but there was no significant difference after treatment (p=0.17). No adverse events related to treatment were observed during participation in the treatment. Conclusion: From this case series, we found that behavior modification with herbal medication and acupuncture may be effective for improving sleep apnea without serious adverse events. Future randomized controlled trials with larger sample size will be necessary for concrete evidence on the benefit of this integrated treatment for OSA.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of nursing simulations between multi-mode simulation and $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation on nursing students' nursing competency, satisfaction, and simulation participation experience in nursing care for patients with dyspnea. Method: Subjects were 107 junior nursing students in R College of Nursing in Seoul from June to November in 2009. Students were allocated to either a Multi-mode simulation group or a $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation group. The multi-mode simulation consisted of standardized patients combined with Vital Sim, comparing the $SimMan^{(R)}$ group. Result: The Multi-mode simulation group reported higher levels of nursing competency (p=.017) but lower communication skills (p<.001) compared to the $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation group. There were no meaningful differences in satisfaction of simulation education between the two groups. The $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation group received a substantial health assessment and the Multi-mode simulation group experienced reality in caring for standardized patients. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrated that Multi-mode simulation has similar educational effects like $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation and suggest that nurse educators should match simulation fidelity with educational goals for effective education.
The purpose of this study was to establish a better operation plan for medical school student internship by gaining a deeper understanding of the student internship process. Toward this end, an investigation was carried out using in-depth interviews of students with experience as student internship at Catholic University of Daegu School of Medicine. Students who participated in the student internship program at Catholic University of Daegu School of Medicine took part in the clinic twice every two-week period for a total of four weeks as a member of the care team. The students performed several activities during their internships, including for example history taking, physical examinations, keeping medical records, simulation of writing prescriptions, clinical skills, patient education, night work, and rounds with the attending professor. In this study were analyzed the contents of a student internship, the difference in clerkship, the competence of the faculty, student participation attitudes and the overall effect of the internship on the students. It was found that the in-depth contents, passion of members including professors and students, especially the role of the professor, was more important component than the contents of the internship program or clinical training. The student-intern system was revealed to have the following positive characteristics: 1) education deeper than clerkship was performed through one-on-one faculty-student interaction, and 2) students' experience was broadened.
Tobacco use is described as the single most preventable cause of morbidity and mortality globally, with the World Bank predicting over 450 million tobacco-related deaths in the next fifty years. In India, the proportion of all deaths that can be attributed to tobacco use is expected to rise from 1.4% in 1990 to 13.3% in 2020 of which smoking alone will cause about 930,000 adult deaths by 2010. Many studies have shown that counseling from a health professional is an effective method of helping patients quit the tobacco habit. Tobacco cessation needs to be urgently expanded by training health professionals in providing routine clinical interventions, increasing availability and subsidies of pharmacotherapy, developing wide-reaching strategies such as quitlines, and costeffective strategies, including group interventions. The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) emphasizes the vital contribution of participation of health professional bodies, as well as training and healthcare institutions in tobacco control efforts. Dentists can play an important role in helping patients quit using tobacco. One of the key strategies to reduce tobacco-related morbidity and mortality is to encourage the involvement of health professionals in tobacco-use prevention and cessation counselling. The dental office is an ideal setting for tobacco cessation services since preventive treatment services, oral screening, and patient education have always been a large part of the dental practice.

Concerning the development of suitable healthcare equipment for a aged people at their homes in order to reduce the labor and increase the efficiency in the homehelpers' work, we conducted a study on the actual conditions of healthcare in Kyoto city (healthcare in taking a meal and excretion, moving and taking a bath by using a hand-powered lift, moving by a wheelchair, shower carrier healthcare, assistance in body care and housework) by digital video filming, interviews and layout investigations. On the base of those investigations by using methods for analysis of video pictures, we divided the healthcate work into scenes and e exctracted the main problems in terms of health care equipment, information, environment, healthcare skills, mental burden, social s system, family burden, ete. Furthermore the questionnaire survey of home helpers (18 persons - 50% answers) clarified that more than half of them have lumbago pains and the biggest load in the everyday healthcare c comes from moving the patients or getting them into or out of t the equipment for moving. Finally we considered concrete proposals appropriate for each h healthcare scene image, based on evaluation toward efficiency (design guidelines) for suitable healthcare equipment for aged people at their homes: 1) Design toward a proper posture 2) Design toward self-help possibility 3) Design toward patient active participation 4) Design toward rationality of the whole process 5) Design toward place-appropriate healthcare equipment 6) Design toward healing of mind 7) Good level of healthcare skills 8) Economic, systematic rationality
The conventional medical appraisal which was done in the process of medical lawsuit was requested from the court to the designated hospital and was delivered as a pattern of one question and one answer in each. However, the comprehensiveness of medical appraisal which was pursued, for example, in Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency, could be guaranteed in terms of in-depth medical analysis as well as the broader capacity of the causality estimation besides. The comprehensiveness of appraisal would also include how well organized hospital system of medical care is and how well correlated job system among medical staffs, when medical dispute was happened at the hospital. This comprehensiveness will exert a big contribution on making a demonstrative medical care to prevent from the medical dispute and it could achieve the national plan of building the patient safety net which is effective in restoring the worsened quality of contemporary medical service. Therefore, the comprehensiveness of medical appraisal has to be designed to go forward interdisciplinary fused speciality rather than one division of medicine, which is also aiming at the reliable and consistent appraisal with the supreme dignity from one window. In addition to that, the objective and concrete frame of comprehensive appraisal under the computed connection has to be deliberated to make itself possible in collaboration with positive participation of medical community. The comprehensiveness of medical appraisal would serve to expand not only the capacity of speciality but also the ability of influence on a restorative justice, so that it give effect to an increased number of mediation and arbitration rather than medical lawsuit as well as a decreased number of the social cost and social conflict.

Purpose : This study investigated the relationship among adjustment of cancer, mental health, and family problem solving communication of women with cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine how to improve the adjustment of cancer of women and improve women's mental health to form family problem solving communication. Methods : This correlational study was conducted among 101 women with cancer living in the Seoul region. Data collection occurred from August 1, 2018, to August 23. The data are reported as means and standard deviations and were analyzed with t tests, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation regression using SPSS version 21.0. Results : The results of this study showed that adjustment to cancer significantly correlated with the education level of the participants (F=3.27, p<.05) and self-help group participation (F=3.156, p<.05). In this study, the mental health of female cancer patients significantly affected their adjustment to cancer (F=13.13, p<.001). These results explained 19.7% of the variance (F=13.13, p<.001) in mental health and adjustment to cancer in female cancer patients. Conclusion : In this study, mental health was significantly affected adjustment to cancer. The results suggest that adjustment to cancer can be promoted through the development and application of a nursing intervention program considering the mental health of female cancer patients. In addition, further research is required to identify the factors in consideration of various variables in addition to the sociodemographic and disease-related variables that may affect the adjustment to cancer of female cancer patients in nursing hospitals.
The purposes of this study are to identify effectiveness of the hospital-based home care project, to manage patients' problems in comprehensive way, to decrease the patients' economical burden to the arthritis patients. The design is nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design with matched samples in terms of age, sex and disease severity. Fifty two patients were assigned in each of the experimental and control groups in Seoul, Kyunggi, Kangwon and Kwangju. Before the experiment and after 3-month period of experiment of home care, level of pain, duration of morning stiffness, Richie Index, ADL, self-efficacy and depression were measured. Nine patients were excluded from the control group because of denial of participation. Contents of home care provided to the experimental group include distribution of prescribed drugs, assessment of patient's condition and side-reactions of drug, pain control, depression control, nutrition guide, exercise teaching, and family counselling. Patients assigned to the control group visited the outpatient clinic once a month as usual. Null hypotheses were selected because physicians concerned about the ineffective change of patients' conditions due to indirect communication with patients through nurses. Level of pain, Richie Index, ADL, self-efficacy, depression and duration of morning stiffness did not significantly different between two groups as expected. In the experimental group, level of pain, ADL, Richie Index and duration of morning stiffness changed to the positive direction from the pretest to the posttest. However, level of depression and self-efficacy did not show any changes. Ninety percent of patients in the experimental group satisfied with the home care provided to them. Since this is the intermediate report, more detailed and long-term report will be prepared.
