In this paper we define wage premium of college hierarchy as a wage differential among college graduates from different universities within the same graduate cohort and estimate the wage premium of college hierarchy for the three different cohorts: namely, 1982, 1992, and 2002. We utilize a unique data set called Education-Labor Market Lifetime Path Survey, which contains education and labor market information about the three different college graduate cohorts. We find that the wage premium of college hierarchy changes over time for the same cohort. It tends to large right after graduation but decrease with labor market experience. When the test score at the time of college entrance controlled, the wage premium of college hierarchy mostly disappears for the 1992 cohort. But for the 2002 cohort it remains seven years after graduation. The difference in the wage premium of college hierarchy can be explained, at least partly, by the number of colleges, college enrollment ratio, and the relation between college hierarchy and the entrance test score.

The Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), is constructed out of teeny-tiny sensor nodes that are very low-cost, have a low impact on the environment in terms of the amount of power they consume, and are able to successfully transmit data to the base station. The primary challenges that are presented by WSN are those that are posed by the distance between nodes, the amount of energy that is consumed, and the delay in time. The sensor node's source of power supply is a battery, and this particular battery is not capable of being recharged. In this scenario, the amount of energy that is consumed rises in direct proportion to the distance that separates the nodes. Here, we present a Hybrid Firefly Glow-Worm Swarm Optimization (HF-GSO) guided routing strategy for preserving WSNs' low power footprint. An efficient fitness function based on firefly optimization is used to select the Cluster Head (CH) in this procedure. It aids in minimising power consumption and the occurrence of dead sensor nodes. After a cluster head (CH) has been chosen, the Glow-Worm Swarm Optimization (GSO) algorithm is used to figure out the best path for sending data to the sink node. Power consumption, throughput, packet delivery ratio, and network lifetime are just some of the metrics measured and compared between the proposed method and methods that are conceptually similar to those already in use. Simulation results showed that the proposed method significantly reduced energy consumption compared to the state-of-the-art methods, while simultaneously increasing the number of functioning sensor nodes by 2.4%. Proposed method produces superior outcomes compared to alternative optimization-based methods.
The necessity of wireless sensor networks is increasing in the recent years. So many researches are studied in wireless sensor networks. The clustering algorithm provides an effective way to prolong the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks. The one-hop routing of LEACH algorithm is an inefficient way in the energy consumption of cluster-head, because it transmits a data to the BS(Base Station) with one-hop. On the other hand, other clustering algorithms transmit data to the BS with multi-hop, because the multi-hop transmission is an effective way. But the multi-hop routing of other clustering algorithms which transmits data to BS with multi-hop have a data bottleneck state problem. The unequal clustering algorithm solved a data bottleneck state problem by increasing the routing path. Most of the unequal clustering algorithms partition the nodes into clusters of unequal size, and clusters closer to the BS have small-size the those farther away from the BS. However, the energy consumption of cluster-head in unequal clustering algorithm is more increased than other clustering algorithms. In the thesis, I propose an energy efficient unequal clustering algorithm which decreases the energy consumption of cluster-head and solves the data bottleneck state problem. The basic idea is divided a three part. First of all I provide that the election of appropriate cluster-head. Next, I offer that the decision of cluster-size which consider the distance from the BS, the energy state of node and the number of neighborhood node. Finally, I provide that the election of assistant node which the transmit function substituted for cluster-head. As a result, the energy consumption of cluster-head is minimized, and the energy consumption of total network is minimized.
A multipath routing in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) provides advantage such as reliability improvement and load balancing by transmitting data through divided paths. For these reasons, existing multipath routing protocols divide path appropriately or create independent paths efficiently. However, when the sink node moves to avoid hotspot problem or satisfy the requirement of the applications, the existing protocols have to reconstruct multipath or exploit foot-print chaining mechanism. As a result, the existing protocols will shorten the lifetime of a network due to excessive energy consumption, and lose the advantage of multipath routing due to the merging of paths. To solve this problem, we propose a multipath creation and maintenance scheme to support the mobile sink node. The proposed protocol can be used to construct local grid structure with restricted area and exploit grid structure for constructing the multipath. The grid structure can also be extended depending on the movement of the sink node. In addition, the multipath can be partially reconstructed to prevent merging paths. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol is superior to the existing protocols in terms of energy efficiency and packet delivery ratio.
In order to manage a large number of devices connected to the Internet of Things (IoT), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) proposed the IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL). The route of the RPL network is generated through the use of an Objective Function (OF) that is suitable for the service that is required for the IoT network. Since the route of the RPL network is conventionally simply chosen only by considering the link quality between the nodes, it is sensible to seek an OF that can also provide better Quality of Service (QoS). In previous studies, the end-to-end delay might possibly be sub-optimal because they only deal with problems related to the reduction of energy consumption and not to the link quality on the path to the sink node. In this study, we propose a scheme that reduces the end-to-end delay but also gives full consideration to both the quality on the entire route to the destination and to the expected lifetime of nodes with bottlenecks from heaped traffic. Weighting factors for the proposed scheme are chosen by experiments and the proposed scheme can reduce the end-to-end delay and the energy consumption of previous studies by 20.8% and 10.5%, respectively.

The shortest path is only maintained during short time because network topology changes very frequently and each mobile nodes communicate each other by depending on battery in MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network). So many researches that are to overcome a limitation or consider a power have executed actively by many researcher. But these protocols are considered only one side of link stability or power consumption so we can make high of stability but power consumption isn't efficient. And also we can reduce power consumption of network but the protocol can't make power consumption of balancing. For that reason we suggest RBSSPR(Residual Battery Capacity and Signal Strength Based Power-aware Routing Protocol in MANET). The RBSSPR considers residual capacity of battery and signal strength so it keeps not only a load balancing but also minimizing of power consumption. The RBSSPR is based on AODV(Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector Routing). We use ns-2 for simulation. This simulation result shows that RBSSPR can extense lifetime of network through distribution of traffic that is centralized into special node and reducing of power consumption.

The effect of PCB and BGA pad designs was investigated on the mechanical property of Pb-free solder joints. The mechanical property of solder joint was tested by three different test methods of drop impact tests, bending impact test, and high speed shear test. Two kinds of pad design such as NSMD (Non-Solder Mask Defined) and SMD (Solder Mask Defined) were applied with the OSP finished Pb-free solder (Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu, Sn-1.2Ag-0.5Cu). in the drop impact test and bending impact test, the characterized lifetime showed the same tendency, and SMD design showed better mechanical property of solder joint than NSMD regardless of test method, which was due to the different crack path. The fracture crack on SMD pad was propagated along the intermetallic compound (IMC) layer of solder joint, while the fracture crack on NSMD pad propagated through upper edge of land which shields pattern. In the high speed shear test, pad lift occurred on the solder joint of NSMD. SMD/SMD combination of pad design consequently illustrated the best mechanical property of BGA/PCB solder joint, followed by SMD/NSMD, NSMD/SMD, and NSMD/NSMD.

In many applications of wireless sensor networks, sensed data can be classified either normal or urgent data according to its time criticalness. Normal data such as periodic monitoring is loss and delay tolerant, but urgent data such as fire alarm is time critical and should be transferred to a sink with reliable. In this paper, by exploiting these data characteristics, we propose a novel energy-efficient data-aware routing protocol for wireless sensor networks, which provides a high reliability for urgent data and energy efficiency for normal data. In the proposed scheme, in order to enhance network survivability and reliability for urgent data, each sensor node forwards only urgent data when its residual battery level is below than a threshold. Also, the proposed scheme uses different data delivery mechanisms depending on the data type. The normal data is delivered to the sink using a single-path-based data forwarding mechanism to improve the energy-efficiency. Meanwhile, the urgent data is transmitted to the sink using a directional flooding mechanism to guarantee high reliability. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme could significantly improve the network lifetime, along with high reliability for urgent data delivery.

Opening of fractures induced by shear dilation or normal deformation can be a significant source of fracture permeability change in fractured rock, which is important for the performance assessment of geological repositories for spent nuclear fuel. As the repository generates heat and later cools the fluid-carrying ability of the rocks becomes a dynamic variable during the lifespan of the repository. Heating causes expansion of the rock close to the repository and, at the same time, contraction close to the surface. During the cooling phase of the repository, the opposite takes place. Heating and cooling together with the, virgin stress can induce shear dilation of fractures and deformation zones and change the flow field around the repository. The objectives of this work are to examine the contribution of thermal stress to the shear slip of fracture in mid- and far-field around a KBS-3 type of repository and to investigate the effect of evolution of stress on the rock mass permeability. In the first part of this study, zones of fracture shear slip were examined by conducting a three-dimensional, thermo-mechanical analysis of a spent fuel repository model in the size of 2 km $\times$ 2 km $\times$ 800 m. Stress evolutions of importance for fracture shear slip are: (1) comparatively high horizontal compressive thermal stress at the repository level, (2) generation of vertical tensile thermal stress right above the repository, (3) horizontal tensile stress near the surface, which can induce tensile failure, and generation of shear stresses at the comers of the repository. In the second part of the study, fracture data from Forsmark, Sweden is used to establish fracture network models (DFN). Stress paths obtained from the thermo-mechanical analysis were used as boundary conditions in DFN-DEM (Discrete Element Method) analysis of six DFN models at the repository level. Increases of permeability up to a factor of four were observed during thermal loading history and shear dilation of fractures was not recovered after cooling of the repository. An understanding of the stress path and potential areas of slip induced shear dilation and related permeability changes during the lifetime of a repository for spent nuclear fuel is of utmost importance for analysing long-term safety. The result of this study will assist in identifying critical areas around a repository where fracture shear slip is likely to develop. The presentation also includes a brief introduction to the ongoing site investigation on two candidate sites for geological repository in Sweden.
The objective of the study is to identify the sub-path of entry into homelessness of young men and enhance understanding them. In specific, homeless risk factors were extracted through their experiences, and based on which the entry paths into homelessness were drawn. The homeless young adults were divided into two groups of those who became homeless in their adolescence and those who entered into homelessness after 19 and their differences were analyzed. As a results, the most prominent differences between the two sub-groups included individual and social factors; most of those who entered homelessness after 19 had physical or psychological problems, while the other group showed delinquency factors in adolescence and adulthood. As for social factors, the former group experienced more financial damage in the process of achieving independence before being homeless, while the latter group had relatively more experience of physical and psychological damage such as bullying, harassment and violence before being homeless and financial frauds. As for investigating the causality relationship of key homeless risk factors by adding a variable of time, and based on which, a constant pattern of entry paths toward homelessness was drawn among each sub-group of homeless young adults. For policy on homelessness, it is required to develop according to the characteristics of homeless young adults. Especially, a specific approach is necessary for the different homeless pathways by sub-group. Furthermore, the study indicated that management and preemptive responses for various homeless risk factors that homeless young adults experienced throughout their lifetime could be important prevention policy against homelessness.
