In this paper, we have studied path selection problem using multiple metric. Current Internet selects a path using only one metric. The path selected by one metric is a best-effort service that can satisfy one requirements. In order to satisfy a call with various Qualify-of-Service(QoS) requirements, the path must satisfy multiple constraints. In many cases, path selection is NP-complete. The proposed algorithm is widest-least cost routing algorithm that selects a path based on cost metric which is basically a delay metric influenced by the network status. The proposed algorithm is a multiple metric path selection algorithm that has traffic distribution ability to select shortest path when network load is light and move traffic to other alternate path when the link load is high. We have compared the results with other routing algorithms.

This paper is intended to study how well the routing protocol supplied in wireless mesh networks can evade interference path along the applied routing metric. Wireless mesh networks, unlike existing network techniques, has the characteristics that node movement is less and energy effect is limited. Therefore. this type of network requires path configuring technique to reflect such network characteristics and new routing metric to determine proper path. Routing metric proposed recently is designed to produce link quality accurately, but it configures path not considering the traffic situation of adjacent nodes. Thus. this technique has the problems of reduced transfer rate and delay between terminals occurring due to frequent traffic chaos by the interference of adjacent nodes. Therefore, this paper proposes metric that configures routing path by finding like metric that can transfer data effectively by considering the traffic situation of adjacent nodes. We confirmed through simulation that the proposed routing metric reduces the delay between terminals via the path that evades the traffic interference of adjacent node.

In this paper we propose a decoding algorithm of Ungerboeck TCM/PSK in the concept of Radix-trellis, which has been applied to the decoding of convolutional codes for the high speed decoding. As an example we choose 16-state trellis coded 8-ary PSK. For Radix-4 and Radix-16 trellis decoding, we explain the path metric(PM) and the branch metric(BM) calculation. By using the simulation, we evaluate the bit error rate(BER) performance according to the number of binary digits for I-Q value, PM and BM registers. The proper number of binary digits of each register has been derived.

This paper proposes a new adaptive QRD-M algorithm for MIMO systems. The proposed scheme controls the number of survivor paths,0 based on the channel condition at each layer. The original QRD-M algorithm used fixed M at each layer and it needs large M to achieve near-MLD (maximum-likelihood detection) performance. However, using the large M increases the computation complexity. In this paper, we further effectively control M by employing the channel indicator which includes not only the channel gain, but also instantaneous noise information without necessity of SNR measurement. We found that the ratio of the minimum path metric to the second minimum is good reliability indicator for the channel condition. By adaptively changing M based on this ratio, the proposed scheme effectively achieves near MLD performance and computation complexity of the proposed scheme is significantly smaller than the conventional QRD-M algorithms.

Wireless mesh networks, unlike Ad-hoc network, has low mobility and multi-path communication between terminals and other networks because it has the backbone structures. Most studies are advanced on finding the optimal routing path in multi-hop wireless mesh network environment. Various routing metric, minimum number of hops(Hop_count) and ETX, ETT metric, are proposed to wireless mesh networks. However, most metrics cannot identify the high throughput routing paths because this metric uses a different measurement parameters in each direction. So actual delivery rate does not provide to this metric. This paper describes the metric and implementation of IETC as a metric. This paper shows the improvement in performance.
In this paper, we propose MPLO(Multi-Path routing with Local Optimization) for load balancing in the tactical backbone network. The MPLO manages global metric and local metric separately. The global metric is propagated to other routers via a routing protocol and is used for configuring loop-free multi-path. The local metric reflecting link utilization is used to find an alternate path when congestion occurs. We verified MPLO could effectively distribute user traffic among available routers by simulation.

We propose a new adaptive K-best Sphere Decoding (SD) algorithm for Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems where the number of survivor paths, K is changed based on the characteristics of path metrics which contain the instantaneous channel condition. In order to overcome a major drawback of Maximum Likelihood Detection (MLD) which exponentially increases the computational complexity with the number of transmit antennas, the conventional adaptive K-best SD algorithms which achieve near to MLD performance have been proposed. However, they still have redundant computation complexity since they only employ the channel fading gain as a channel condition indicator without instantaneous Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) information. hi order to complement this drawback, the proposed algorithm use the characteristics of path metrics as a simple channel indicator. It is found that the ratio of the minimum path metric to the other path metrics reflects SNR information as well as channel fading gain. By adaptively changing K based on this ratio, the proposed algorithm more effectively reduce the computation complexity compared to the conventional K-best algorithms which achieve same performance.

This paper presents new heuristic search algorithms for searching rectilinear r(L1), link metric, and combined shortest paths in the presence of orthogonal obstacles. The GMD(GuidedMinimum Detour) algorithm combines the best features of maze-running algorithms and line-search algorithms. The SGMD(Line-by-Line GuidedMinimum Detour)algorithm is a modiffication of the GMD algorithm that improves efficiency using line-by-line extensions. Our GMD and LGMD algorithms always find a rectilinear shortest path using the guided A search method without constructing a connection graph that contains a shortest path. The GMD and the LGMD algorithms can be implemented in O(m+eloge+NlogN) and O(eloge+NlogN) time, respectively, and O(e+N) space, where m is the total number of searched nodes, is the number of boundary sides of obstacles, and N is the total number of searched line segment. Based on the LGMD algorithm, we consider not only the problems of finding a link metric shortest path in terms of the number of bends, but also the combined L1 metric and Link Metric shortest path in terms of the length and the number of bands.

An adaptive K-best detection scheme is proposed for MIMO systems. The proposed scheme changes the number of survivor paths, K based on the degree of the reliability of Zero-Forcing (ZF) estimates at each K-best step. The critical drawback of the fixed K-best detection is that the correct path's metric may be temporarily larger than K minimum paths metrics due to imperfect interference cancellation by the incorrect ZF estimates. Based on the observation that there are insignificant differences among path metrics (ML distances) when the ZF estimates are incorrect, we use the ratio of the minimum ML distance to the second minimum as a reliability indicator for the ZF estimates. So, we adaptively select the value of K according to the ML distance ratio. It is shown that the proposed scheme achieves the significant improvement over the conventional fixed K-best scheme. The proposed scheme effectively achieves the performance of large K-best system while maintaining the overall average computation complexity much smaller than that of large K system.

This Paper presents a modified hard decision Viterbi decoder with an error prediction circuit enhancing performance for the burst error inputs. Viterbi decoder employs the maximum likelihood decoding algorithm which shows excellent error correction capability for the random error inputs. Viterbi decoders, however, suffer poor error correction performance for the burst error inputs under the fading channel. The proposed error prediction algorithm increases error correction capability for the burst errors. The algorithm estimaties the burst error data area using the maximum path metric for the erroneous inputs, It calculates burst error intervals based on increases in the maximum values of a path metric. The proposed decoder keeps a performance the same as the conventional decoders on AWGN channels for the IEEE802.l1a WLAN system. It shows performance inproving 15% on the burst error of multi-path fading channels, widely used in mobile systems.
