This paper proposes "A Black Hole Detection Protocol Design based on a Mutual Authentication Scheme on VANET." It consists of the Mutual Authentication Scheme (MAS) that processes a Mutual Authentication by transferring messages among a Gateway Node, a Sensor Node, and a User Node and the Black Hole Detection Protocol (BHDP) which detects a Non-Authentication Node by using the Session Key computed in the MAS and a Black Hole by using the Broadcasting Table. Therefore, the MAS can reduce the operation count of hash functions more than the existing scheme and protect a privacy from an eavesdropping attack and an information exposure by hashing a nonce and user's ID and password. In addition, the MAS prevents a replay attack by using the randomly generated nonce and the time stamp. The BHDP improves Packet Delivery ratio and Throughput more than the AODV with Black hole by 4.79% and 38.28Kbps. Also, it improves Packet Delivery ratio and Throughput more than the IDSAODV by 1.53% and 10.45Kbps. Hence it makes VANET more safe and reliable.
As the development of Internet technology, the number of IDs managed by each individuals has been increased. And many software development institutes have developed ID/PW management solutions to facilitate secure and convenient management of ID/PW. However, these solutions also can be vulnerable in case of administrator's password exposure. Thus, we need to derive security requirements from the vulnerability analysis of these solutions, also we need evaluation criteria for secure ID/PW management solution development. In this paper, we analyze the vulnerability of ID/PW management solution and propose the evaluation criteria for secure ID/PW management solution.
Nespot provides a convenient wireless internet connection service. The existing IEEE 802.1X EAP-MD5 authentication mechanism can be achieved based on ID/password information for a wireless connection. The Nespot system offers an advanced accounting and authorization procedure for providing wireless user authentication mechanism. However, many problems were found on the existing Nespot EAP-MD5 mechanism such as a ill value exposure, a leakage of personal information on wireless authentication procedure and a weakness on Nespot mutual authentication mechanism. Therefore, we analyzed the limitation of the existing IEEE 802.1X EAP-MD5 certification system, and suggested a one-time session key based authentication mechanism. And then we offered a simplified encryption function on the Nespot certification process for providing secure mutual authentication process.
As the area of informatization has been expanding followed by the development of information communication technology, cloud computing which can use infra sources like server, storage, and network in IT area as an efficient service whenever and wherever skyrockets. But users who use cloud computing technology may have some problems like exposure personal data, surveillance on person, and process on commercial purpose on their personal data. This paper proposes a security technique which protect user's privacy by creating imaginary user information not to be used by other people. The proposed technique virtualizes user's information as an anonymity value not to let other people know user's identity by combining PIN code with it and guarantees user's anonymity. Also it can manage and certificate personal information that is important in cloud computing, so that it can solve security problem of cloud computing which centers all informations. Therefore this paper can assist upgrading of the level of information of poor SMBs through safe use of cloud computing.
In LTE environment, which is 4th generation mobile communication systems, there is concern about private information exposure by transmitting initial identifier in plain text. This paper suggest mutual authentication protocol, which uses one-time password utilizing challenge-response and AES-based Milenage key generation algorithm, as solution for safe initial identification communication, preventing unique identification information leaking. Milenage key generation algorithm has been used in LTE Security protocol for generating Cipher key, Integrity key, Message Authentication Code. Performance analysis evaluates the suitability of LTE Security protocol and LTE network by comparing LTE Security protocol with proposed protocol about algorithm operation count and Latency. Thus, this paper figures out initial identification communication's weak points of currently used LTE security protocol and complements in accordance with traditional protocol. So, it can be applied for traditional LTE communication on account of providing additional confidentiality to initial identifier.
As cloud computing is activated, a variety of cloud services are being distributed. However, to use each different cloud service, you must perform a individual user authentication process to service. Therefore, not only the procedure is cumbersome but also due to repeated authentication process performance, it can cause password exposure or database overload that needs to have user's authentication information each cloud server. Moreover, there is high probability of security problem that being occurred by phishing attacks that result from different authentication schemes and input scheme for each service. Thus, when you want to use a variety of cloud service, we proposed OpenID based user authentication scheme that can be applied to a multi-cloud environment by the trusted user's verify ID provider.
The authentication process is a key step that should be used to verify that a user is legitimate, and it should be used to verify that a user is a legitimate user and grant access only to that user. Recently, two-factor authentication and OTP schemes are used by most applications to add a layer of security to the login process and to address the vulnerability of using only one factor for authentication, but this method also allows access to user accounts without permission. This is a known security vulnerability. In this paper, we propose a Zero Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) personal information authentication scheme based on a Smart Contract of a block chain that authenticates users with minimal personal information exposure conditions. This has the advantage of providing many security technologies to the authentication process based on blockchain technology, and that personal information authentication can be performed more safely than the existing authentication method.
Recently, in the field of next-generation e-commerce and finance, interest in blockchain-based technologies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum is great. Although the security of blockchain technology is known to be secure, hacking incidents / accidents related to cryptocurrencies are being issued. The main causes were vulnerabilities in the external environment, such as taking over login sessions on cryptocurrency wallets, exposing private keys due to malware infection, and using simple passwords. However, private key management recommends general methods such as utilizing a dedicated application or local backup and physical archiving through document printing. In this paper, we propose a white box password-based private key protection scheme. As a result of safety and performance analysis, we strengthened the security against vulnerability of private key exposure and proved the processing efficiency of existing protocol.
The spread of smart phones provides users with a variety of services, making their lives more convenient. In particular, financial transactions can be easily made online after user authentication using a smart phone. Users easily access the service by authenticating using a PIN, but this makes them vulnerable to social engineering attacks such as spying or recording. We aim to increase security against social engineering attacks by applying the authentication method including imaginary numbers when entering a password at the door lock to smart phones. Door locks perform PIN authentication within the terminal, but in smart phones, PIN authentication is handled by the server, so there is a problem in transmitting PIN information safely. Through the proposed technique, multiple PINs containing imaginary numbers are generated and transmitted as processed values such as hash values, thereby ensuring the stability of transmission and enabling safe user authentication through a technique that allows the PIN to be entered without exposure.
Thia paper suggests a milti user-authentication system comprises that DNA biometric informatiom, owner's RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) smartcard of hardware token, and PKI digital signqture of software. This system improved items proposed in [1] as follows : this mechanism provides one RFID smartcard instead of two user-authentication smartcard(the biometric registered seal card and the DNA personal ID card), and solbers user information exposure as RFID of low proce when the card is lost. In addition, this can be perfect multi user-autentication system to enable identification even in cases such as identical twins, the DNA collected from the blood of patient who has undergone a medical procedure involving blood replacement and the DNA of the blood donor, mutation in the DNA base of cancer cells and other cells. Therefore, the proposed system is applied to terminal log-on with RFID smart card that stores accurate digital DNA biometric information instead of present biometric user-authentication system with the card is lost, which doesn't expose any personal DNA information. The security of PKI digital signature private key can be improved because secure pseudo random number generator can generate infinite one-time pseudo randon number corresponding to a user ID to keep private key of PKI digital signature securely whenever authenticated users access a system. Un addition, this user-authentication system can be used in credit card, resident card, passport, etc. acceletating the use of biometric RFID smart' card. The security of proposed system is shown by statistical anaysis.
