단상 SRM의 운전 특성 개선을 위한 새로운 패시브 컨버터 (A Novel Passive Converter for Improving Drive Characteristics of a Single Phase SRM)

  • This paper presents a novel passive converter for single phase SRM. The proposed passive converter has additional passive power circuit which is consisted by three diodes and one capacitor in the front-end of conventional asymmetric converter to supply a high negative bias during demagnetization. The high negative bias can reduce the demagnetization time and negative torque from tail current in single phase SRM. So, It can extend positive torque region by the extended turn-off position. In this paper, the structure and operating modes of a novel passive converter are introduced with mathematical model. The proposed single phase SRM using passive converter is verified by the computer simulation and experimental results.

Performance of Passive Boost Switched Reluctance Converter for Single-phase Switched Reluctance Motor

  • A novel passive boost power converter forsingle-phaseswitched reluctance motor is presented. A simple passive circuit is proposed comprisingthree diodes and one capacitor. The passive circuitis added in the front-end of a conventional asymmetric converter to obtain high negative bias. Based on this passive network, the terminal voltage of the converter side is a general DC-link voltage level in parallel mode up to a double DC-link voltage level in series mode. Thus,it can suppress the negative torque generation from the tail current and improve the output power. The results of the comparative simulation and experiments forthe conventional and proposed converter verify the performance of the proposed converter.

  • The passive system requires RF-DC converter. RF-DC converter, which is used in microwave region, is more affected by parasitic elements than used in low frequency region. So it is difficult to make the converter. RF-DC converter usually consists of resonator, shottky diode, capacitor, voltage regulator. In this study, we used the rechargeable battery instead of capacitor. If any passive transponder requires more power than general transponder, battery tech of this components is important to apply for the passive system. In this paper, passive transponder, which requires more power than general passive transponder, is presented and compared to general passive transponder.

Soft-Switching PWM Boost Chopper-Fed DC-DC Power Converter with Load Side Auxiliary Passive Resonant Snubber

  • This paper presents a new circuit topology of high-frequency soft switching commutation boost type PWM chopper-fed DC-DC power converter with a loadside auxiliary passive resonant snubber. In the proposed boost type chopper-fed DC-DC power converter circuit operating under a principle of ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation, the capacitor and inductor in the auxiliary passive resonant circuit works as the lossless resonant snubber. In addition to this, the voltage and current peak stresses of the power semiconductor devices as well as their di/dt or dv/dt dynamic stress can be effectively reduced by the single passive resonant snubber treated here. Moreover, it is proved that chopper-fed DC-DC power converter circuit topology with an auxiliary passive resonant snubber could solve some problems on the conventional boost type hard switching PWM chopper-fed DC-DC power converter. The simulation results of this converter are illustrated and discussed as compared with the experimental ones. The feasible effectiveness of this soft witching DC-DC power converter with a single passive resonant snubber is verified by the 5kW, 20kHz experimental breadboard set up to be built and tested for new energy utilization such as solar photovoltaic generators and fuel sell generators.

  • An analysis on a passive current sharing characteristics of a multi-phase synchronous buck converter is presented. The passive current sharing method is simple but its characteristics depend on the converter equivalent resistance and PWM uniformity. In this paper, the load sharing and power consumption of the passive current sharing system for the converter equivalent resistance and duty ratio inequalities are investigated through the simulation and experiment.

  • Design and drive characteristics of SR drive for hydraulic pump system using passive converter is presented in this paper. In oder to get the high performance, a simple passive circuit is added in the front-end of a conventional asymmetric converter, which consists of three diodes and one capacitor. This passive converter has the high demagnetization voltage, to reduce the demagnetization time. Futhermore optimal turn-off angle for the proposed passive converter is proposed. According to motor speed and current, an optimal turn-off angle can be achieved by look-up table to reduce torque ripple. The characteristic of proposed hydraulic pump system using passive converter is verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents boost and buck and buck-boost DC-DC converter circuit topologies of high-frequency soft switching transition PWM chopper type DC-DC high power converters with a single auxiliary passive resonant snubber. In the proposed boost power converter circuits operating under a principle of ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation schemes, the capacitor and inductor in the auxiliary passive resonant circuit works as the loss less resonant snubber. In addition to this, the switching voltage and current peak stresses as well as EMI and RFI noises can be basically reduced by this single passive resonant snubber. Moreover, it is proved that converter circuit topologies with a passive resonant snubber are capable of solving some problems of the conventional hard switching PWM processing based on high-ferquency pulse modulation operation principle. The simulation results of this converter are discussed as compared with the experimental ones. The effectiveness of this power converter with a single passive resonant snubber is verified by the 5kW experimental breadboad set up.

  • The conception of the passive lossless snubber with the simpler is presented. Thus a necessity condition of the passive lossless soft switching converter with the simplest topology is directed. A novel passive regenerative snubber called soft snubber applied to a hard switching converter is proposed. The passive snubber consists of a snubber inductor, two snubber rectifiers, and a snubber capacitor. The losses are reduced by inserting a snubber inductor in the series path of the rectifier during it's turn off. It is so simple that can make energy reset or capacitor discharged directly without producing any current circulation. To show the superiority of this converter is verified through the experiment with a 640W, 100kHz prototype converter.

  • At the high speed operation, the high demagnetization voltage can reduce the negative torque, so the output power and efficiency can be improved. In this paper, a novel power converter for single phase SRM with high demagnetization voltage is proposed. A simple passive capacitor circuit is added in the front-end, which consists of three diodes and one capacitor. Based on this passive network, the two capacitors can be connected in series and parallel, so the phase winding of SRM obtains general do-link voltage in excitation mode and the double dc-link voltage in demagnetization mode. The operation modes of the proposed converter are analyzed in detail. Some computer simulation results is done to verify the performance of proposed converter.
