This paper presents a novel smart MEMS accelerometer which employs a hybrid control algorithm and an estimator. This scheme is realized by adding a sliding-mode controller to a conventional PID closed loop system to achieve higher stability and higher dynamic range and to prevent pull-in phenomena by preventing finger displacement from passing a maximum preset value as well as adding an adaptive nonlinear observer to a conventional PID closed loop system. This estimator is used for online estimation of the parameter variations for MEMS accelerometers and gives the capability of self testing to the system. The analysis of convergence and resolution show that while the proposed control scheme satisfies these criteria it also keeps resolution performance better than what is normally obtained in conventional PID controllers. The performance of the proposed hybrid controller investigated here is validated by computer simulation.
The purpose of maintenance monitoring is to offer the objective and continuous data in order to be lasting security affirmation and best fitted maintenance of tunnel structure. Though recently the examples of maintenance monitoring which Is applied to tunnel are rapidly increasing, long-term measured monitoring actual results and rationally analysis method researches are wholly lacking. In this study, it is analyzed that the relationship of stress and reinforcement stress of concrete lining, i.e., last support materials of tunnel through regression analysis based on the monitoring result of the subway tunnel, which was accomplished the monitoring for long period, passing the weathering. Also, through the analysis of the stress and the safety of concrete lining, it is estimated that the frequency of maintenance monitoring and the in-situ application of the criteria value of management.

Cavitation is the formation of vapour bubbles of a flowing liquid in a region where the pressure of the liquid falls below its vapor pressure. Various types of cavitations are generated on the propeller blades. As cavity bubbles passing the blade are forced to oscillate in size or shape and come to collapse, they cause very strong local acoustic waves in the fluid and radiate noise. Comparing the Sound Pressure Level(SPL) before and after cavitation, SPL increases 2dB per 1 knot increase in ship speed above the cavitation inception speed(CIS). Consequently, the CIS is an important criteria to design silent propellers. In this work, experimental measurements of radiated noise according to various types of cavitations from the model propeller are carried out in a large cavitation tunnel and their acoustical characteristics are extensively investigated.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to apply alternative standard setting methods for the Korean Medical Licensing Examination (KMLE), a criterion-referenced written examination, and to compare them to the conventional cut score used on the KMLE. Methods: The process and results of criterion-referenced standard settings (i.e., the modified-Angoff and bookmark methods) were evaluated. The ratio of passing and failing examinees determined using these alternative standard setting methods was compared to the results of the conventional criteria. Additionally, the external, internal and procedural evaluation of these methods were reviewed. Results: The modified-Angoff method yielded the highest cut score, followed sequentially by the conventional method and the bookmark method. The classification agreement between the modified-Angoff and bookmark methods was 0.720 measured by Cohen's ${\kappa}$ coefficient. The intra-panelist classification consistency of modified-Angoff method was higher than bookmark method. However, the inter-panelist classification consistency was vice versa. The standard setting panelists' survey results showed that the procedures of both methods were satisfactory, but panelists had more confidence in the results of the modified-Angoff method. Conclusion: The modified-Angoff method showed results that were more similar to those of the conventional method. Both new methods showed very high concordance with the conventional method, as well as with each other. The modified-Angoff method was considered feasible for adoption on the KMLE. The standard setting panelists responded positively to the modified-Angoff method in terms of its practical applicability, despite certain advantages of the bookmark method.
This study aimed to compare the results of delivery quality assurance (DQA) using MapCHECK and OCTAVIUS for radiation therapy. Thirty patients who passed the DQA results were retrospectively included in this study. The point dose difference (DD) and gamma passing rate (GPR) were analyzed to evaluate the agreement between the measured and planned data for all cases, Plan complexity was evaluated to analyze dosimetric accuracy by quantifying the degree of modulation according to each plan. We analyzed the monitor units (MUs) and total MUs for each plan to evaluate the correlation between the MUs and plan complexity. We used a paired t-test to compare the DD and GPRs that were obtained using the two devices. The DDs and GPRs were within the tolerance range for all cases. The average GPRs difference between the two devices was statistically significant for the brain, and head and neck for gamma criteria of 3%/3 mm and 2%/2 mm. There was no significant correlation between the modulation index and total MUs for any of the cases. These DQA devices can be used interchangeably for routine patient-specific QA in radiation therapy.
Purpose: Roux stasis syndrome is the main complication of a Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy. The aim of this study was to compare the occurrence rate of Roux stasis syndrome with the passing of time in a conventional Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy and in an uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy. Materials and Methods: 50 patients (31 men and 19 women) had a conventional Roux-en-Y reconstruction and 53 patients (35 men and 18 women) had an uncut Roux-en-Y reconstruction. The Roux stasis syndrome was defined by clinical criteria only. The criteria included one of the four following conditions at the time of follow-up: chronic upper abdominal pain, postprandial fullness, persistent nausea, and intermittent vomiting that are worsened by eating. Follow-up after surgery was done in all patients at $7\∼12,\;13\~18,\;19\~24,\;25\~30$, and $31\∼36$ months. Results: According to the criteria, the Roux stasis syndrome occurred in 40.0$\%$ of the patients at 7$\∼$12 months, 33.3$\%$ at $13\∼19$ months, $35.3\%$ at $19\∼24$ months, $32.0\%$ at $25\~30$ months, and $33.3\%$ at $31\∼36$ months after a conventional Roux-en-Y operation. The syndrome occurred in $22.6\%$ of the patients at $7\∼12$ months, $15.2\%$ at $13\∼18$ months, $17.1\%$ at $19\∼24$ months, $19.2\%$ at $25\∼30$ months, and $20\%$ at $31\∼36$ months after an uncut Roux-en-Y reconstruction. Conclusion: In terms of occurrence pattern, only a little variance existed one year after both procedures. Comparing the Roux stasis syndrome in both procedures, the uncut Roux operation had better results than the conventional Roux operation.

With urbanization projects involving trunk roads progressing, many simple interchanges, which separate passing traffic into the main traffic and access subtraffic, are being constructed to maximize the traffic capacity. Under the current Road Connection Rule, the access-prohibited section in an interchange is determined based on the access lane and limit distance in the complete interchange road, but separate criteria for the simple interchange are not defined. This may cause confusion in the Road Management Office's determination of the access-prohibited section in the simple interchange, or lead to the application of the criteria for the access-prohibited section in the complete interchange without considering the features of such interchange. This study conducted a comparative analysis of the domestic and overseas systems related to the installation of access section in trunk roads, such as general national roads. This paper presents a survey of the methods for applying the access-prohibited section in the interchange along with the actual cases and proposes improvement measures for a rational calculation of the access prohibited installation section in the simple interchange to minimize the downsides associated with the application of the extremely strict criteria. The proposed road connection rule improvement measures based on the consideration of the purpose of installing the simple interchange and on the consideration the features of the simple interchange are expected to prevent administration confusion by the field road management offices as well as the waste of unnecessary efforts and costs by petitioners so they can boost the service satisfaction for people and the administrative reliability.

In the excavation work like blasting/excavator work bordering on the urban railway, the dynamic safety of railway structures like tunnel, open-cut box structure and elevated bridge was investigated by numerical analysis in this study. The practically presented criteria on influential zones at the blasting work in the construction industry was numerically checked in cases of the precise vibration-controlled blasting (type II) and the small scale vibration-controlled blasting (type III) and it was shown that the criteria on blasting work methods needed to be supplemented through continuous field tests and numerical analyses. The influence of excavation vibration by mechanical excavators was especially investigated in case of earth auger and breaker. The numerical analysis of tunnel shows that the criteria on vibration velocities from the regression analysis of field test values was conservative. The amplification phenomenon of excavating vibration velocity was shown passing through the backfilling soil between the earth auger and the open-cut box structure. It was shown that the added-vibration on the superstructure of elevated bridge was occurred at the bottom of pile like earthquake when the excavator vibration was arriving at the pile toe. The systematic and continuous research on the vibration effect from excavating works was needed for the safety of urban railway structures and nearby facilities.

As the shortage of natural & good quality aggregate for concrete, it is needed development of alternative aggregate. At the present time, the crushed sand is widely used among the alternation aggregate, and the usage of crushed sand will be increased more and more. Generally, crushed sud is produced with wet process in domestic, but some manufacturing companies which are handicapped with local restrict are produced by dry process. In this study, analyzing the facilities of dry crushed sand, the quality properties of dry crushed sand was done by Korean Industrial Standards. Based on the quality results of dry crushed sand, the experiment of concrete with the dry crushed sand which is substitute for sea sand was done. As the results of basic qualities, the amount of 0.08 mm sieve passing ratio was over KS criteria, and the fineness modulus was higher than sea sand, and the other physical properties of dry crushed sand was similar to sea sand. The results of concrete experiment, according to the substitutive ratio of dry crushed sand is increased, the slump and air content of concrete was decreased by increase of fine particles of dry crushed sand, and the unit weight content, compressive & tensile strength of concrete were increased on the contrary. The physical properties of concrete used dry crushed sand were showed same tendency without relation to W/B. Consequently, if the fine particle contents of dry crushed sand was lower, it is judged that dry crushed sand is no problem to use for concrete aggregate and the amount of usage will be increased.
