In this paper, an acceleration based passenger evacuation simulation is performed. In order to describe a passenger‘s behavior in an evacuation situation, a passenger is modeled as a rigid body which translates in the horizontal plane and rotates along the vertical axis. The position and rotation angle of a passenger are calculated by solving the dynamic equations of motions at each time step. The destination force, the contact force, and the group force are considered as external forces and the moments due to each force are also considered. With the passenger model proposed in this paper, the test problems in International Maritime Organization, Maritime Safety Committee/Circulation 1238(IMO MSC/Circ.1238) are implemented and the effects of passenger rotation on the evacuation time are confirmed.
Algorithm for passenger flow analysis based on DEM(Discrete Element Method) is newly developed. In the new algorithm, there are many similarity between multi phase flow and passenger flow. The velocity component of 1st phase corresponds to the direction vector of cell, each particle to each passenger, volume fraction to population density and the momentum equation of particle to the walking velocity equation of passenger, etc. And, the walking velocity of passenger is also represented by the function of population density. Key algorithms are developed to determine the position of passenger, population density and numbering to each passenger, To verify the effectiveness of new algorithm, passenger flow analysis for simple railway station model is conducted. The results for passenger flow in the model station are satisfying qualitatively and quantitatively.
Currently, subway crowding is estimated by observing a specific point at specific hours once or twice every 1 or 2 years. Given the extensive subway network in Seoul Metropolitan Area covering 588 stations, 11 lines and 80 transfer stations as of 2017, implementing crowding mitigation policy may have its limitations due to data uncertainty. A proposal has recently been made to effectively use smart card data, which generates big data on the overall subway traffic related to an estimated 8 million passengers per day. To mitigate subway crowding, this study proposes two viable options based on data related to smart card used in Seoul Metropolitan Area. One is to create a subway passenger pattern model to accurately estimate subway crowding, while the other is to prove effectiveness of early bird policy to distribute subway demand that is concentrated at certain stations and certain time. A subway passenger pattern model was created to estimate the passenger routes based on subway terminal ID at the entrance and exit and data by hours. To that end, we propose assigning passengers at the routes similar to the shortest routes based on an assumption that passengers choose the fastest routes. In the model, passenger flow is simulated every minute, and subway crowding level by station and line at every hour is analyzed while station usage pattern is identified by depending on passenger paths. For early bird policy, highly crowded stations will be categorized based on congestion level extracted from subway passenger pattern model and viability of a policy which transfers certain traveling demands to early commuting hours in those stations will be reviewed. In particular, review will be conducted on the impact of policy implemented at certain stations on other stations and lines from subway network as a whole. Lastly, we proposed that smart card based subway passenger pattern model established through this study used in decision making process to ensure effective implementation of public transport policy.

The purpose of this studγ if to understand problem of present bus scheduling system and to develop optimal bus scheduling model which improve bus passenger's degree of satisfaction(DOS) and bus company's operation efficiency at the same time. This study developed optimal bus scheduling model, which reflected bus passenger's degree of satisfaction(DOS), applied to existing model that summery of bus operation cost($C_o$), passenger queuing time cost($C_{pw}$) and passenger travel time cost($C_{pl}$). And optimal bus scheduling model which developed in this study is optimized that using LINGO program based on linear program. Also by using the general case in Busan, compare total cost of present bus scheduling system and existing scheduling model with total cost of optimal bus scheduling model which reflected bus passenger's degree of satisfaction(DOS).

Sound transmission from the luggage comparment into the car cabin is important in the viewpoint if exhaust and road noises of passenger cars. In this paper, acoustic modal coupling between passenger and luggage compartments through loudspeaker holes at parcel shelf is dealt with for a sedan type passenger car with rigid rear seat. For these purposes, a half-scaled model car is tested and computed by the indirect BEM. Predicted acoustic transfer functions are compared with experimental ones and they agree reasonably well. It is found that the fore-aft resonance frequencies of the passenger cavity in the absence of coupling holes are tend to shift to higher frequencies when the luggage compartment is coupled to the passenger cavity.

The dynamic characteristics during gear ratio change including the disturbance of output torque has been one of the most important issues in the study of automatic transmissions of passenger cars. In this paper, to investigate the dynamic characteristics of a passenger car automatic transmission during gear ratio change, a dynamic model of the driveline of a passenger car focused on the automatic transmission is proposed and the dynamic simulation program is developed. The results of the simulation show good agreements with the experimental data, which process the use fullness of the dynamic model and the simulation of the driveline.

For an efficient railroad operations the demand forecasting is required. Time series models can quickly forecast the future demand with fewer data. As well as the accuracy of forecasting is excellent compared to other methods. In this study is proposed the intervention ARIMA model for forecasting methods of KTX passenger demand. The intervention ARIMA model may reflect the intervention such as the Kyongbu high-speed rail project second phase. The simple seasonal ARIMA model is predicted to overestimate the KTX passenger demand. However, intervention ARIMA model is predicted the reasonable results. The KTX passenger demands were predicted to be a week units separated by the weekday and weekend.
Korea's air passenger traffic has been growing steadily. In this paper, we propose a forecasting model of air passenger demand to ascertain the growth trend of air passenger transportation performance in Korea. We conducted a simulation based on System Dynamics with the demand as a dependent variable, and international oil prices, GDP and exchange rates as exogenous variables. The accuracy of the model was verified using MAPE and $R^2$, and the proposed prediction model was verified as an accurate prediction model. As a result of the demand forecast, it is predicted that the air passenger demand in Korea will continue to grow, and the share of low cost carriers will increase sharply. The addition of the Korean transportation performance of foreign carriers in Korea and the transportation performance of Korean passengers due to the alliance of airlines will provide a more accurate forecast of passenger demand.
Since the introduction of PSD in 2005, the number of accidents involving passengers falling onto the tracks accidentally or intentionally have drastically decreased, but the number of PSD related passenger accidents is increasing. While existing papers on PSD have been devoted to systemic introduction and system improvement, papers on passenger casuality accidents due to deteriorated PSD have been limited. This paper proposes revising of the scenario model for passenger accidents using classified hazard sources of PSD.
This study developed an optimization model, defined as the IPS (Itinerary for Passenger Satisfaction), for a cruise ship to identify an itinerary that maximizes passenger satisfaction. A 0-1 integer programming model was developed to provide an optimal sequence of ports of call, assigning a destination to each day of the cruise. The concepts of the destination access network and the neighborhood of a destination were designed and manipulated to organize the complex network of destinations so that each next destination is selected within a practical overnight sail. The developed model can also be viewed as a reduced variant of the traveling salesperson problem with less constraints. A set of example tests shows that practical scenarios of the IPS with moderate cruise duration can be easily solved with light computation loads. Considering cruise ship passengers usually make their decisions not relying on only one destination but on an itinerary in its entirety, the purpose of this study was to identify itinerary alternatives to attract potential cruise passengers for attaining maximum occupancy level.
