Molecular Characterization of Silicon (Si) Transporter Genes, Insights into Si-acquisition Status, Plant Growth, Development, and Yield in Alfalfa

  • Silicon (Si) has the potential to improve plant growth and stress tolerance. The study aimed to explore Si-involving plant responses and molecular characterization of different Si-responsive genes in alfalfa. In this study, the exogenous supplementation of Si enhanced plant growth, and biomass yield. Si-acquisition in alfalfa root and shoot was higher in Si-supplemented compared to silicon deficient (-Si) plants, implying Si-acquisition has beneficial on alfalfa plants. As a consequence, the quantum efficiency of photosystem II (Fv/Fm) was significantly increased in silicon-sufficient (+Si) plants. The quantitative gene expression analysis exhibited a significant upregulation of the Lsi1, Lsi2, Lsi3, NIP5;1, and NIP6;1 genes in alfalfa roots, while BOR1, BOR4, NIP2, and NIP3 showed no significant variation in their expression. The MEME results further noticed the association of four motifs related to the major intrinsic protein (MIP). The interaction analysis revealed that NIP5;1 and Lsi1 showed a shared gene network with NIP2, BOR1, and BOR4, and Lsi2, Lsi3 and NIP3-1, respectively. These results suggest that members of the major intrinsic proteins (MIPs) family especially Lsi1, Lsi2, Lsi3, NIP5;1, and NIP6;1 genes helped to pass water and other neutral solutes through the cell membrane and those played significant roles in Si uptake and transport in plants. Together, these insights might be useful for alfalfa breeding and genome editing approaches for alfalfa improvement.

대심도 터널 암반 절리 보강을 위한 고점도 그라우팅 주입 성능 평가 (Evaluation of High-Viscosity Grouting Injection Perfomance for Reinforcement of Rock Joint in Deep -Depth Tunnels)

  • 본 연구는 대심도 조건에서 고효율 그라우팅 기술 개발을 목표로 하여, 다양한 주입 재료의 적용 가능성을 실험적으로 검증하였다. 1종 보통 포틀랜드 시멘트(OPC)와 마이크로 시멘트(MC)의 입자 크기 분석 및 주입 모형 실험을 통해 각 재료의 주입성능을 평가했다. 국내 대심도 기준, 즉 지하 40미터 이하 조건에서 Barton's Cubic Network 이론을 활용하여 암반 절리 간격을 산정했으며, 선정된 조건에서 입자 크기의 통과 가능성을 분석한 결과, MC는 암반 절리 간격을 통과한 반면, OPC는 간극을 통과하지 못하였다. 실험 장치 및 면적 계산 프로그램을 활용한 주입 모형 실험 결과에 따르면, OPC는 입자 크기가 크기 때문에 주입에 실패한 반면, MC는 고점도 조건에서도 주입이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로, 주입 재료에 따른 대심도 조건에서 그라우트 재료의 적용 가능성을 정량적 및 가시적으로 도출하였으며, 고점도 MC 재료는 대심도 암반 절리면 차수 보강에 효과적일 것으로 예상된다.

선형변환기법을 이용한 능동여파기의 구성에 관한 연구 (Synthesis of Active Filers Using Linear Transformation)

  • 선형변환기법을 이용하여 사다리형태의 수동여파회로를 능동화하는데 있어서 새로운 방식을 제시하였다. 전압과 전류영역으로 나타내는 회로망변수를 선형변환메이트릭스의 사용으로 새로운 영역의 변수로 바꾸어서 회로를 능동화하는 과정에서 종전의 방법은 개개의 리액턴스소자에 대해서 선형변환을 적용하는데 비하여 본연구에서는 병렬과 직렬의 두개의 리액턴스소자에 동시에 선형변환을 적용함으로써 회로능동화에 소요되는 연산증폭기의 개수를 여파기의 차수와 같도록 줄일수 있었다. 저역통과여파기의 경우. 선형변환메이트릭스를 적절하게 선택함으로써 사다리형회로의 리액턴스소자의 배치여하에 관계없이 규칙적이며 단계적인 회로능동화를 가능하게 하였다. 이 방법에 따라 5차 Chebyshev 저역통과여파회로를 능동화한 다음 이론치에 매우 근사한 주파수특성을 측정으로 얻음으로써 이 방식의 타당성을 입증하였다.

웨이블릿 해석과 인공 신경회로망을 이용한 원자력발전소의 급수유량 평가 (Feedwater Flow-rate Evaluation of Nuclear Power Plants Using Wavelet Analysis and Artificial Neural Networks)

  • The steam generator feedwater flow-rate in a nuclear power plant was estimated by means of artificial neural networks with the wavelet analysis for enhanced information extraction. The fouling of venturi meters, used for steam generator feedwater flow-rate in pressurized water reactors, may result in unnecessary plant power derating. The back-propagation network was used to generate models of signals for a pressurized water reactor Multiple-input, single-output hetero-associative networks were used for evaluating the feedwater flow rate as a function of a set of related variables. The wavelet was used as a low pass filter eliminating the noise from the raw signals. The results have shown that possible fouling of venturi can be detected by neural networks, and the feedwater flow-rate can be predicted as an alternative to existing methods. The research has also indicated that the decomposition of signals by wavelet transform is a powerful approach to signal analysis for denoising.

뉴로-퍼지 기법에 의한 자동차 진단 (Automobile diagnosis by euro-Fuzzy Technique)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차의 발달에 따른 정비 전문가의 상대적인 능력 감퇴를 보 완하고 진단의 정확성을 높일 수 있도록 소음계측에 의한 인공 지능적 뉴로-퍼지 진단 기법을 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 진단결과에 영향을 미치는 많은 작용변수와 다양한 차량상태 등을 고려함으로서 보다 신뢰성 있는 결과를 산출해내기 위한 퍼지(fuzzy) 추론 방식의 판단법을 도입하였으며, 진단이 실패했을 경우나 입력된 데이터가 충분하 지 못할 경우에 시스템 자체의 지식을 확장시켜 나갈 수 있도록 해밍네트(hamming net )에 의한 패턴인식 기법을 적용하였다. 그리고 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션과 자동차를 대상 으로 고장진단 실험을 실시하여 기존의 진단기법과의 비교를 통한 뉴로-퍼지 진단기법 의 효율성과 알고리즘의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • Today's rapid development in the computer and network technology makes the environment which enables the companies to consider their decisions on the wide point of view and enables the software vendors to make the software packages to help these decisions. To make these software packages, many algorithms should be developed. The production and distribution planning problem belongs to those problems that industry manufacturers daily face in organizing their overall production plan. However, this combinatorial optimization problem can not be solved optimally in a reasonable time when large instances are considered. This legitimates the search for heuristic techniques. As one of these heuristic techniques, genetic algorithm has been considered in many researches. A standard genetic algorithm is a problem solving method that apply the rules of reproduction, gene crossover, and mutation to these pseudo-organisms so those organisms can Pass beneficial and survival-enhancing traits to new generation. This standard genetic algorithm should not be applied to this problem directly because when we represent the chromosome of this problem, there may exist high epitasis between genes. So in this paper, we proposed the hybrid genetic algorithm which turns out to better result than standard genetic algorithms

광 네트워크 스위치 응용을 위한 RSFQ Switch의 회로 설계 및 시뮬레이션 (Circuit Design and Simulation Study of an RSFQ Switch Element for Optical Network Switch Applications)

  • In this work, we have studied about an RSFQ (Rapid Single Flux Quantum) switch element. The circuit was designed, simulated, and laid out for mask fabrication. The switch cell was composed of a D flip-flop, a splitter, a confluence buffer, and a switch core. The switch core determined if the input data could pass to the output. “On” and o“off” controls in the switch core could be possible by utilizing an RS flip-flop. When a control pulse was input to the “on” port, the RS flip-flop was in the set state and passed the input pulses to the output port. When a pulse was input to the “off” port, the RS flip-flop was in the reset state and prevented the input pulses from transferring to the output port. We simulated and optimized the switch element circuit by using Xic, WRspice, and Julia. The minimum circuit margins in simulations were more than $\pm$20%. We also performed the mask layout of the circuit by using Xic and Lmeter.

  • In this paper, the states and parameters in a dynamic system are estimated by applying an Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). The UKF is widely used in various fields such as sensor fusion, trajectory estimation, and learning of Neural Network weights. These estimations are necessary and important in determining the stability of a mobile system, monitoring, and predictions. However, conventional approaches are difficult to estimate based on the experimental data, due to properties of non-linearity and measurement noises. Therefore, in this paper, UKF is applied in estimating the states and parameters needed. An experimental dynamic system has been set up for obtaining data and the experimental data is collected for parameter estimation. The measurement noises are primarily reduced by applying the Low Pass Filter (LPF). Given the simulation results, the estimated error rate is 39 percent more efficient than the results obtained using the Least Square Method (LSM). Secondly, the estimated parameters have an average convergence period of four seconds.

  • Rapid development in computer and network technology these days has created in environment in which decisions for manufacturing companies can be made in a much broader perspective. Especially, better decisions on production and distribution planning(PDP) problems can be made laking advantage of real time information from all the parties concerned. However, since the PDP problem-a core part of the supply chain management- is known to be the so-called NP-hard problem, so heuristic methods are dominantly used to find out solutions in a reasonable time. As one of those heuristic techniques, many previous studios considered genetic a1gorithms. A standard genetic a1gorithm applies rules of reproduction, gene crossover, and mutation to the pseudo-organisms so the organisms can pass along beneficial and survival-enhancing trails to a new generation. When it comes to representing a chromosome on the problem, it is hard to guarantee an evolution of solutions through classic a1gorithm operations alone, for there exists a strong epitasis among genes. To resolve this problem, we propose a hybrid genetic a1gorithm based on Silver-Meal heuristic. Using IMS-TB(Intelligent Manufacturing System Test-bed) problem sets. the good performance of the proposed a1gorithm is demonstrated.

도로전광표지를 이용한 국도우회정보 제공이 고속도로 운영에 미치는 효과 분석 -영동고속도로를 중심으로- (Analysis of the Effectiveness of Providing National Highway Detour Information via Variable Message Signs on Expressway Operations - Case of Yeongdong Expressway -)

  • PURPOSES : Expressways experience chronic and recurring congestion, especially during weekends and holidays, because of the increased demands for leisure-related travel. The alternatives to solve chronic and recurring congestion may be three-fold: (1) physical expansion of expressway capacities, (2) road pricing, and (3) temporal and spatial distribution of traffic demands. Among these, the third alternative may be the most cost-effective method for the Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) that can be achieved by using the existing ITS infrastructure. METHODS : KEC initiated a pilot study in which the traffic on congested expressways was managed by providing traffic condition information (i.e., travel times) of neighboring national highways for taking detours via variable message signs (VMS). This study aimed to estimate the detour rate, and the two pilot studies on Seohaean and Yeongdong expressways yielded many benefits. RESULTS : It was revealed that the total length of congestion segments decreased by 7.8 km, and the average travel speed increased by 5.3 km/h. CONCLUSIONS : Based on these findings, it was concluded that the propagation of detour information via VMSs during congestion hours can help reduce congestion on expressways and increase the benefits of the entire network.
