  • OFDM is a very attractive technique for achieving high-bit-rate data transmission and high spectrum efficiency. However, one of disadvantages of OFDM signal is the high PAPR characteristic when multi-carriers are added up coherently. In this Paper, we propose-scrambling scheme using correlator for PAPR reduction and reducing the amount of PAPR calculations. The simulation results show that this scheme has less computational complexity and reasonable PAPR reduction capability compared to PTS technique.

  • OFDM is a very attractive technique for achieving high-bit-rate data transmission and high spectrum efficiency. However one of disadvantages of OFDM signal is the high PAPR characteristic when multicarriers are added up coherently. In this paper, we propose an adaptive PTS scheme using two threshold levels for PAPR reduction and reducing the amount of PAPR calculations with clipping scheme. Simulation results show that it is almost same between average bit error rate performance of the proposed scheme and that of a conventional scheme. Also, we obtain a great performance gain in the amount of calculations compared to the conventional scheme. Therefore, proposed system has a good performance in data processing time in OFDM wireless communication systems.

  • OFDM should be used for the fourth generation communication for high speed communication. Because of high spectral efficiency and high tolerance to fading channel, OFDM is applied to many high speed wire and wirless communication such as DAB(Digital Audio Broudcast), DVB(Digital Video Broadcast), IMT 2000 etc. Inter-modulation, however, is derived from PAR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) of OFDM signals. The paper describes PTS(Partial Transmit Sequence) and SLM(Select Mapping) of an existing methods which can reduce PAR. And then the document introduces the new method that is called "Combine PAR method". The method proposed in this paper is to combine PTS and SLM. As a result of the simulation, Combine PAR method is better than the existing methods.g methods.

  • Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is usually regarded as a spectral efficient multicarrier modulation technique, yet it suffers from a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) problem. Among all the existing PAPR reduction techniques in OFDM systems, side information based PAPR reduction techniques such as partial transmit sequence (PTS) and selective mapping (SLM) schemes, have attracted the most attention. However, the transmission of side information results in somewhat spectral loss and this does not significantly improve the bit error rate (BER) performance. Parallel combinatory (PC) OFDM yields higher spectral efficiency (SE) and better BER performance on Gaussian channels, while is a little but not obvious PAPR improvement over the ordinary OFDM system. This investigation aimed to design a 'perfect' OFDM system. We introduce the side information to rotate the subcarrier phases of our novel PC-OFDM system structure, and call this new system the SIPC(Side information based Parallel Combinatory)-OFDM system. The proposed system achieves better PAPR and SE performance. In addition, considering the tradeoff of system parameters, the proposed system also has the properties of a higher BER.

  • OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) signal with high PAPR(peak to average power ratio) produces the nonlinear distortion and/or decreases down the power efficiency of HPA(high power amplifier). So, the IMD(inter-modulation distortion) reduction method was proposed to reduce the nonlinear distortion, which shows better BER(bit error rate) performance than the PAPR reduction methods. However, IMD reduction method has inherent problem which system complexity and processing time increases because the FFT(fast Fourier transform) processor is added in transmitter and decision criterion of IMD reduction method is computed in frequency domain,. In this paper, therefore, we propose a new IMD reduction method to reduce the computational complexity and structure of IMD computation. And we apply this proposed method into OFDM system using PTS(partial transmit sequence) scheme and compare the computational complexity between conventional and proposed IMD reduction method. This method can reduce the system size and computational complexity. Also, the proposed has almost same BER performance with the conventional IMD reduction method.

  • OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) communications system is very attractive for the high data rate wireless transmission. However, it may be distorted in the nonlinear HPA(High Power Amplifier) since OFDM signal has hish PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio). In this paper, a new method using control tone is studied for reducing the PAPR and we call it PCT(PAPR Control Tone) method. This proposed PCT method is to assign control tones for PAPR reduction at the predefined sub-carriers. After IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) and PAPR calculation, the OFDM data signal of the lowest PAPR is selected to transmit. Unlike the conventional method, it can cut down the computational complexity because it does not require the transmission and demodulation process of side information about the phase rotation. Furthermore, if this method is made up in parallel configuration, it can solve the time delay problem so that it can be processed in real time processing. This proposed method is compared with the conventional selected mapping(SLM) technique. We find out the PAPR reduction performance and BER when the number of control tone is 6 and nonlinear HPA is considered.
