  • The experiments were carried out to investigate effect of shading rare on variegata appearance and leaf growth of variegated liriope (Liriope platyphylla Wang et Tang variegata Hort.) The plant was grown under four different light intensities such as 0(natural light intensity), 25, 50 and 75% shading conditions. Leaf variegata appearance was better in the light than in the shade. Leaf showed good growth at 0, 25% shading treatment, average leaf width and area of yellow part were highest at 0% shading treatment. As increased shading rate, number of stomate per unit area decreased. Total chlorophyll of the whole leaf and green part were reduced by increasing shading rate, while yellow part showed oppositely. In the epidermis, cell size of 75% shading treatment showed larger than those of 0% shading treatment.

  • In this research, the finite element analysis of piezocone penetration and dissipation tests have been conducted using the anisotropic elastoplastic-viscoplastic bounding surface model in the Updated Lagrangian reference frame for the large deformation and finite strain nu\ature of piezocone penetration. Accordingly, virtual work equation and corresponding finite element equations have been reformulated. Theory of mixtures has been incorporated to explain the behavior of the sol. It has been observed that the viscoplastic part of the soil model affected the whole formulation. The results of the finite element analysis have been compared and investigated with the experimental results. The formulations and the results are described in part 'I' and part 'II', respectively.

  • Recently, the scale and form of the construction promoting in government and private organization have large scaled town. The underground area of whole town are used for every facilities, and most of concrete area are used for greening part for friendly environment construction. This greening part for concrete area have good point such as being amendment and various economical effect and improvement for environmental problem, moreover, the amount of greening part become great increased. For this factor, we have to newly consider to keep durable safety for concrete structure, therefore, we suggest that how to keep structural safety of greening area on the concrete.

  • In general, the design of fuzzy logic controller has difficulties in the acquisition of expert's knowledge. So, some methods that can optimize the parameters for fuzzy logic controller automatically without expert knowledge was provided. Recently, tuning method for fuzzy logic controller using genetic algorithm(GA) were proposed in many papers. However, those are tuning methods for a part or some part of fuzzy logic controller. In this paper, we proposes auto tuning method for the whole part of tuzzy logic controller, such as parameters of membership functions for antecedence and consequence parts, rule base, scaling factor and the number of rule. Finally, second order dead time plant is provided to show the advantages of the proposed method.

  • Surface defects in structural members are apt to be origins of fatigue cracks growth, which may cause serious failure of whole structures. Most structure has a part where stress concentrates such as welded joints, corner parts, etc. And then, analysis on crack growth and penetration from these defects, therefore, is one of the most important subjects for the reliability of LBB design. The present paper has performed an experimental and analysis on the fatigue crack propagation by variety in crack length of surface cracked plate with stress concentration part. The crack growth behavior can be explained quantitatively by using Newman-Raju equation and the stress partitioning method proposed by ASME B&P Code Sec. XI. The stress concentration factor $K_t$ has affected on the crack growth. The crack growth after penetration depends upon the initial front side crack length.

  • This paper proposes a novel face recognition algorithm to recognize human face robustly under various conditions, such as changes of pose, illumination, and expression, etc. at indoor environments. A conventional automatic face recognition system consists of the detection and the recognition part. Generally, the detection part is dominant over the other part in the estimating whole recognition rate. So, in this paper, we suggest the view-specific eigenface method as preprocessor to estimate various poses of the face in the input image. Then, we apply the Enhanced FLD Models (EFM) to the result of it, twice. Because, the EFM recognizes human face, and reduces the error of standardization effectively. To deal with view-varying problem, we build one basis vector set for each view individually. Finally, the dimensionalities of ...

  • This two-part paper presents a control method that allows for stable interaction of a robot manipulator with the environment. In part 1, we focus on the input ouput relationships (unstructured modeling) of the robot and environment dynamics. This analysis leads to a general condition for stability of the robot and environment taken as a whole. This stability condition, for stable maneuver, prescribes a finite sensitivity for robot and environment where sensitivity of the robot(or the environment) is defined as a mapping forces into displacement. According to this stability condition, smaller sensitivity either in robot or in environment leads to narrower stability range. In the limit, when both systems have zero sensitivity, stability cannot be guaranteed. These models do not have any particular structure, yet they can model a wide variety of industrial and research robot manipulators and environment dynamic behavior. Although this approach of modeling may not lead to any design procedure, it will allow us to understand the fundamental issues in stability when a robot interacts with an environment.

  • Nowadays image processing is very useful for some field of traffic applications. The one reason is we can construct the system in a low price, the other is the improvement of hardware processing power, it can be more fast to processing the data. In this study, I propose the traffic monitoring system that implement on the embedded system environment. The whole system consists of two main part, one is host controller board, the other is image processing board. The part of host controller board take charge of control the total system, interface of external environment. and OSD(On screen display). The part of image processing board takes charge of image input and output using video encoder and decoder, image classification and memory control of using FPGA, control of mouse signal. And finally, fer stable operation of host controller board, uC/OS-II operating system is ported on the board.

  • In order to keep the zero defect of production in press working process. The optimum design of the production part, strip process layout, die design, die making and try out etc. are necessary the analysis of effective factors. For example, theory and practice of metal shearing process and it's phenomena, die structure, machine tool working for die making, die materials and it's heat treatment, metal working in field, their know how tc. are included in those factors. In this study, we analyzed whole of data base, theoretical back ground of metal working process, and then performed the progressive die tryout with the screw press. Part 2 of this study reveals with precision progressive die design, its making and tryout.
