  • The death toll of the elderly by accidents in 2007 takes 6.5% of total death toll. The lost income from this is estimated to be 17 trillion and 511 billion won. According to CISS of Korea Consumer Protection Board, the number of safety related accidents of the elderly at home in 2006 was 486 cases in 2006 and has gradually increased every year. This thesis created 115 guidelines at 14 spaces as facility evaluation index evaluating the aging friendliness of the facility and safety related accidents generated at elderly resident welfare facility, examined influence variables of safety related accidents with 191 elderly including demographic variable, physical skill variable, social psychological variable and facility environmental variables, and then verified relevance between safety accidents and each influence variable. As a result, it was verified through ANOVA test of SAS Package Program and $x^2$- test that facility environmental variable would be closely related to the accident. In this regard, this study newly proposes the facility standards of aging friendly facility by supplementing them with contents and guidelines of facility evaluation table as ways to reduce safety related facility of the elderly.

  • This study aims to figure out the use of the school facilities as a community center. The twenty-five elementary schools in Korea and nine schools in Japan are analyzed on the frame of the facility types(the athletic facility, the cultural facility, the convenience facility, the educational facility, the welfare facility, and the open-space), the building units(single, multiple), and the user's movement(separate, cross). The results are as follows: (1) The frequently served complexes of the school facilities are the athletic facility, the convenience facility, and the cultural facility in Korea and the convenience facility, the educational facility, the athletic facility, and the cultural facility in Japan. The schools in Japan seem to be more concerned to the life-long studies. (2) Gyms and swimming pools are most popular as the athletic facility both countries. The schools in Japan supply the community members with more various contents encouraging participation and relationship-making as the convenience, educational and the cultura facilities. (3) The use of building units and the user's movement are not distinguishable in both countries.

  • This study investigates application cases of facility management system model for enhancing facility productivity of industry filed around medium and small facility processing companies and finds the inefficiency of the existing management model. Following items are researched to seek out methods and measures to maximize facility productivity through empirical analysis by exploring and establishing a new management model. First, the empirical analysis, it is found that the overall equipment efficiency index used for facility productivity management in the companies has a difficulty being used as the index for it in actual medium-small processing companies. Second, a new facility management system model applying standard cycle time is suggested among facility management index system to measure facility productivity. Third, the empirical analysis is used to verify that developed facility management system model is a useful method to manage the facility productivity by applying the model to actual medium-small processing companies. Finally, it is necessary to implement comparison analysis on whether actual productivity enhancement induces a distinctly different result by using a new facility management index system model to be inhibited in this study.

  • This paper introduces facility operation modeling and simulation based primarily on a discrete event system modeling scheme. Many modern industrial facilities are so complex that their operational status cannot be estimated by simple calculations. In general, a facility can consist of many processes and transfers of material between processes that may be modeled as a discrete event system. This paper introduces the current status of studies on operation modeling and simulation for typical nuclear facilities, along with some examples. In addition, this paper provides insights about how a discrete event system can be applied to a model for a nuclear facility. A headend facility is chosen for operation modeling and the simulation, and detailed procedure is thoroughly described from modeling to an analysis of discrete event results. These kinds of modeling and simulation are very important because they can contribute to facility design and operation in terms of prediction of system behavior, quantification of facility capacity, bottleneck identification and efficient operation scheduling.

  • A fitness facility in an apartment complex is not a simple sports facility. It has important roles in improving the residents' physical and mental health, and in forming a sense of community. This study analyzed the number of users in the fitness facility of the apartment complex, which is a significant criterion in determining the dimension. A comparative analysis between the past and the present function and dimension was performed in finding out the optimal solutions. In conclusion, the number of users in the fitness facility is influenced not by the number of households in the complex but by the facility's size and creating a desired environment. The users' favorite sports equipments were figured out to meet those needs. Moreover, comparing the facilities' size, user satisfaction, area per person, an optimal dimension for the facility, and rates of equipments were found out.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for developing the practical park management. For this, satisfaction degree, satisfaction factors and estimated model by satisfaction variables of visitors analyzed through a questionnaire survey in Naejangsan National Park, Korea. In the evaluation of the satisfaction, variables of 'Lack of public facility'. 'Lack of use program', 'Lack of facility to stay' 'Charge of user fee, parking fee' and 'Exorbitant pay' at Naejangsan park office and 'Charge of user fee, parking fee', 'Lack of use program' and 'Lack of facility to stay' at Baekam park office was more unsatisfied than any other variable. Satisfaction factors by Factor Analysis were loaded with 'Facility management' at Naejangsan park office(34.3%) and 'user management' at Baekam park office(45.6%) by the highest contribution degree. In estimated model of satisfaction by Multiple Regression Analysis showed in order of 'damage of trail', 'Lack of commercial facility', and 'Littering problem' at Naejangsan park office and 'damage of cultural and historic resource', 'Lack of commercial facility', 'Touting' at Baekam park office. So, Naejangsan National Park needed intensive management policy and institutional apparatus for facility management and user education.

  • This paper examines the operational limitations of the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization (CMIM) as a regional financial safety net in East Asia and presents a new regional financial arrangement. To overcome the drawbacks of the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization which has never been activated so far, this study proposes that ASEAN+3 establish a new lending facility, so-called a Reserve Fund Facility, and create a regional common reserves asset. The proposed Reserve Fund Facility framework guarantees lending automaticity of the liquidity facility, based on upfront funding instead of pledge funding. Establishing the Reserve Fund Facility could find a way of making up for weakness of the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization and responding to the regional needs for effective regional financial arrangement. The full-fledged Reserve Fund Facility will ultimately contribute to the future development of East Asia's monetary and financial cooperation beyond the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization.

  • The objective of this research is to suggest the appropriate natural environment conservation facility management plan in Korea through development of the proper definition and categorization. Bearing the above objective, this study employs the comparison and analysis between domestic and international case studies. Furthermore, several survey methods have been adopted as check-lists for the evaluation of the sample sites and quantitative interviews with government officials and visitors to investigate their perspectives. On the consequence, firstly it was found that considering ecological types and objectives, the proper applicability of natural environment conservation facility could be disaggregated into three types of eco-park, eco-experience and education, and eco-observation facility. Secondly, based on the interview results, the necessity of provision of the natural environment conservation facilities was strongly found among the governmental officials and the residents groups who also expect the expansion of the facilities. Lastly, it appears necessary that the expansion of supporting projects and programs on the natural environment conservation facilities, the estimation and provision of the appropriate funding for monitoring, management and operation, the arrangement of resident experts, and activation of the nature environment education programs.
