  • Examining the polychactous annelids collected from Tongyeong Bay and Gwangyang Bay, I found three species which should be added in tile list as new to the polychaetous annelid fauna of Korea. In the present study three species are reported with morphological descriptions. Consquently, a total of 128 species of polychaetous annelids has been reported (Kamita and Sato, 1941; Paik, 1972, 1973a, 1973b; Rho and Song, 1974, 1975: Paik, 1975a, 1975b, 1976: Lee, 1976; Paik 1977, 1978, 1979a,1979b) in Korea.

  • Discrete Wavelet Transforms (DWTs) are recent mathematics, and begin to be used in various fields. The wavelet transform can be used to compress the signal and image due to its inherent properties. We applied the wavelet transform compression and reconstruction to the neutron cross section data. Numerical tests illustrate that tile signal compression using wavelet is very effective to reduce the data saving spaces.

  • Recently various construction management systems are applied for more efficient project management, and through them as-built construction information is collected. However, the accuracy of the collected information shows big differences among projects, since tile collection of tile as-built information is not based on objective manner or criteria and also each management personnel uses difference criteria on this based on individual experiences. This initiates the need for a development of methods and information frameworks for efficient collection and management of as-built information with assurance of data accuracy. Therefor the objective of this study is to suggest a method to determine the task performance measurement unit depending on the characteristics of work types. A prototype system was developed for generating task performance measurement units by utilizing MS ACCESS. The information framework and the system developed in this research is expected to help standardized performance measurements across projects by improving the objectivity and the accuracy of the collected information.

  • In this paper, tile characteristics of flow resulting from the configurations of piston head and intake-port of the cylinder in a gasoline-direct-injection engine are investigated numerically. Calculations are carried out from intake process to the end of compression. GTT code which includes the third order upwind Chakravarthy-Osher TVD scheme and κ-ε turbulence model with the law of wall as a boundary condition. As a result, a piston head with a smaller radius of curvature and larger radius gives stronger reverse tumble. It is also shown that as the maximum tumble ratio increases by the configuration of the intake-port the tumble ratio at the end of compression stroke increases. It is concluded that flows at the end of compression stroke can be controlled by the optimum design of intake-port and piston head.

  • LOFT LBLOCA test, LP-02-6 was analyzed using RELAP5/MOD3.2. It has a distinguished thermal-hydraulic phenomenon of a positive bottom-up core flow in tile blowdown phase. A modified nodalization which is based on that used in LP-LB-1 calculation by Lubbesmeyer was used in the calculation. RELAP5/MOD3.2 predicted overall system hydraulic behavior relatively well. However, the bottom-up quenching in the middle part of the core was not predicted sufficiently. It was demonstrated also that the peak cladding temperature can be predicted well by adjusting a discharge coefficient. But more improvements are needed in order to apply this code to actual plants with less user dependency.

  • We have applied the neural network method for the neural networkmethod for the automatic scoring of the sleep stage. 17 features are extracted from the recorded EEG, EOG and EMG signals. These features are inputed to tile multilayer perceptron model. Neural network was trained with error-back propagation method. Results are compared with manual scoring of the experts, and show the possibility of application of automatic method in sleep stage scoring.

  • In this study, a mathematical model fur analyzing the shift characteristics is proposed. The proposed model comprises power transmission system and vehicle system, which are coupled. And On-road car test is carried out in order to extract model parameters. Tile model is composed of a detailed powertrain, an engine/AT housing, a simplified suspension system. tires and a vehicle body model. On the test, the vehicle accelerations and pitch ratio are measured by using accelerometers and gyro sensor. The other data, for example speeds, a throttle position and a brake signal, are taken from sensors which already exist in the vehicle. Using natural frequency and characteristic equation, vehicle model parameters are extracted from experimental data.

  • As a digital map is tile based of 2D, it is difficult to be satisfied with accuracy and up-to-date. In this study, we analyzed requirements of an object-oriented continuous digital map and designed the system. The digital map is 3D continuous object and has the accuracy and up-to-date, and designs with management system, transfer system, change information management system, frequent updating system and, same time updating system.
