Midazolam, one of the most common benzodiazepine derivatives, is widely used in intravenous sedation for dental treatment without severe complications. However, paradoxical reactions to midazolam, including patient's unanticipated restlessness, agitation, hostility, and rage, have been frequently reported since the introduction of benzodiazepine. During outpatient intravenous sedation using midazolam for dental treatment, we experienced a paradoxical reaction to midazolam in a 28-year-old female patient. With a thorough review of the literature, the management of this complication and its various etiologies were discussed.

A thin-film multijunction thermal converter was fabricated through the process using 6 inch silicon wafer semiconductor process and bulk micromachining. Evanohm R alloy and chromel-constantan were used as a heater and thermocouple materials, respectively. The temperature coefficient of resistance of Evanohm R heater was about 75.12 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ and the voltage sensitivity of the thermal converter indicated about 5.75 mV/mW in air. The transfer differences, measured by FRDC-DC method in the frequency range from 20 Hz to 10 kHz, showed the value under about 1.36 ppm, 0.83 ppm for the film thickness of 500, 200 nm, respectively. And in case of a 200 nm-thick thermal converter, the AC-DC transfer differences seems to be stabilized below the value of 1 ppm in the frequency range from 1 kHz to 500 kHz.

The purpose of this study was to analyse craniofacial shape by 3D scanner for female adults with age groups. In this study, heads of 452 female adults were measured by 3D scanner. The obtained 25 measurements were analyzed by statistical methods. The results can be summarized as follows; 1. From the basic statistical data analysis, vertex-tragion and the length between the pupils were the longest in their twenties, and grew shorter in elderly groups. The length of nasion-subnasale and the width of mouth increased with an increased in age. 2. According to the analysis of the craniofacial proportions, the head type of female aduls was short-headed. The size of lower face increased with an increase in age. 3. The statistically noticeable differences were found in the measurement of the left and the right sides of face in the age groups of 20, 30, and 40. 4. High correlations were found in two perpendicular lengths, two horizontal lengths and two widths. 5. The order of factor analysis was as follows; the horizontal length, the perpendicular length and the width from highest.

Biological decontamination means the removal of microorganisms from the inanimate object such as building or equipment. In this study, hydrogen peroxide vapor efficacy test using VHP 1000ED system(Steris LifeSciences) were conducted for G. stearothermophilus spore with agent materials(aluminum, stainless steel, poly-carbonate, viton, silicone, kapton and glass). Total recovered spores exposed to hydrogen peroxide vapor(1.0 g/min) during 7, 15, 30, 60 min were calculated. As a result, all agent materials were totally decontaminated within 60 min at 1.0 g/min concentration with 35% hydrogen peroxide vapor. Finally, we could confirmed that hydrogen peroxide vapor possess sporicidal capacity of G. stearothermophilus and found the optimum decontamination conditions with VHP1000ED system.

The purpose of this study was to determine the association between serum uric acid, abdominal obesity, and waist circumference (WC) in Korean. A total of 208 healthy examinees were examined at Gimcheon Medical Center from July 2011 to December 2011. WC and body mass index (BMI) of subjects were measured as well as blood pressure, fasting blood sugar level, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, C-reactive protein (CRP), triglycerides, and serum uric acid (SUA). In both men (p<0.05) and women (p<0.01), BMI and SUA were significantly correlated with WC. In men, triglycerides (r=0.501, p<0.01) had a positive correlation with WC, and CRP (r=0.442, p<0.01) had a positive correlation with BMI. In women, triglycerides (r=0.470, p<0.01) and CRP (r=0.366, p<0.01) had a positive correlation with WC. Therefore, WC and SUA may be the most effective anthropometric indices of obesity for screening Korean population.

This is a case report of a photo-electric single station alarm for residential fire prevention. The detector was developed for the certification in Japanese market which is more than 100 times bigger than Korean market. A comparison and review for test standard owned by KFI (Korea Institute of Fire Industry & Technology) and JFEII (Japan Fire Equipment Inspection Institute) respectively is also conducted. The detector alarms with a buzzer and an indicating LED. Operating period and time in alarm, low battery and fire situation is stated. The electronics circuit part to reduce its current and the detector's characteristics are described. It is explained that the measured current and experimental result of the battery discharge can meet the 10 years operation.

This paper examines a disadvantage of low-frequency magnetic shielding measurement based on MIL-STD-188-125-1. A rectangular loop antenna is proposed as an improvement over conventional circular loop antennas for measuring magnetic shielding. Simulation and experiment are used to demonstrate that the proposed rectangular loop outperforms the circular loop for a more reliable shielding measurement at low frequency range.

Nasotracheal intubation is commonly performed under general anesthesia in oral and maxillofacial surgery. For the convenience of surgery, nasal Ring-Adair-Elwyn (RAE) tubes are mainly used. Because the nasal RAE tubes were bent in an "L" shape, the insertion depth was limited. Particularly, it is necessary to accurately determine the appropriate depth of the RAE tubes in children. Several types of nasal RAE tubes are used in the medical market, which vary in material and length. We performed endotracheal intubation using a nasal RAE tube for double-jaw surgery, but air leakage persisted even when the air pressure in the cuff was increased. When checked with a laryngoscope, it was confirmed that the tube was pushed out, and the cuff was caught on the vocal cords, causing air leakage. Since inserting the tube deeply did not solve the problem, replacing it with a nasal RAE tube (Polar^TM, Preformed Tracheal Tube, Smith Medical, Inc., USA) did not cause air leakage; thus, we reported this case.

This study was conducted to investigate effects of different levels of seleniferous whole crop barley (WCB) supplementation on performance, and blood characteristics as physiological responses in growing pigs. A total of 20 cross-bred pigs ((Landrace ${\times}$ Yorkshire) ${\times}$ Duroc) were divided into 4 treatments of 5 pigs each and experimental period lasted for 6 weeks. They were fed diets containing 0.1 (non-seleniferous WCB as controls), 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 mg/kg levels of selenium (Se) by supplementing seleniferous WCB, and non-seleniferous or seleniferous WCB was formulated to 5% level in total ration. The diets were isonitrogenous (18% crude protein) and isocaloric (3,500 kcal/kg digestible energy) across treatments. Increasing levels of seleniferous WCB supplements did not affect feed intake and BW gain, and blood total protein concentration was (p<0.05) significantly higher for 0.2 mg/kg Se treatments than for controls. On d 14, blood albumin concentration was higher (p<0.05) for seleniferous WCB supplemented groups than for control group. Contrarily, blood glucose concentration was tended to be higher for controls than for seleniferous WCB groups. Blood total lipid concentration was significantly (p<0.05) lowered with increasing levels of seleniferous WCB. Serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase and glutamic-pyruvic transaminase did not have any difference among treatments. It was tended that blood total cholesterol and triglyceride were lowered with increasing levels of seleniferous WCB. Blood Se concentration was significantly (p<0.05) increased with increasing levels of seleniferous WCB. The results indicate that Se present in seleniferous WCB had favorable effects on blood characteristics and blood Se increased by supplementing seleniferous WCB implies not only a good intestinal absorption of Se present in WCB but also the possibility of Se transfer into tissues.

It is well known that the general metals have a lot of grain boundaries. The grain boundaries play a negative role to increase the resistivity and to decrease the conductivity. The small resistivity and the large conductivity have been a goal of the material scientists, and no signal noise, perfect signal transfer, and the realization of the real sound are the dream of electronic engineers and audio manias. Generally, oxygen free copper (OFC) and Ohno continuous casting (OCC) copper cables have been used for the purpose of the precise signal transfer and low noise. However they still include a lot of grain boundaries. In our study, we have grown the single crystal by the Czochralski method and succeeded to produce single crystal wires from the crystal in the dimension of $0.5{\times}0.5{\times}2500mm$. The produced wire still possesses very good single crystal properties. We observed the structure of the wire, and measured the resistance and impedance. Glow Discharge Spectrometer (GDS) was used for analyzing the compositions of copper single crystals and commercial copper. Current-Voltage curve, resistance, total harmonic distortion and speaker frequency response were measured for comparing electrical and acoustic properties of two samples.
