부모의 수학에 대한 태도와 기대가 수학 학습 동기와 성취도에 미치는 영향 (The Relationships Among Parental Attitudes, Parental Expectations, Motivation and Achievement Focusing on Mathematics)

  • 본 연구에서는 PISA 학부모 설문의 수학과 관련한 설문을 중심으로, 우리나라 부모의 수학에 대한 태도와 기대가 학생의 수학 학습 동기와 성취도에 어떻게 영향을 주는지에 대한 구조적 관계를 살펴보았다. 이때 부모의 수학에 대한 태도와 기대 효과에 영향을 줄 수 있는 ESCS와 자녀의 성별은 통제하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 부모의 수학에 대한 태도는 부모의 수학에 대한 학업적 직업적 기대에 정적인 영향을 주고, 부모의 기대는 자녀의 내적 동기, 도구적 동기, 수학 성취도에 정적인 영향을 주는 구조적 관계를 발견하였다. 즉, 부모가 수학의 유용성과 필요성을 인식하는 것은 자녀의 수학에 대한 흥미와 가치, 수학 점수를 높이는 데 도움이 되며, 진로를 수립하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있다. 한편, 투입 변수 중 우리나라 학생의 수학 성취도에 직접적으로 가장 큰 영향을 준 변수는 도구적 동기였으며, 그 다음은 내적 동기, 부모의 수학에 대한 기대의 순이었다. 이 결과는 수학 성취에 대해 부모의 영향이 있다하더라도 학생 스스로가 가진 동기를 넘어서지 않음을 보여준다.

학령기 아동의 삶의 질과 아동이 인지한 부모의 양육태도, 부모와 의사소통과의 관계 (Relationship between Quality of Life and Parenting Attitude and Parent-Child Communication Patterns of School Age Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe quality of life in school age children and the relationship between quality of life and parenting attitude as perceived by children and parent-child communication pattern. Methods: Data were collected between May 26 and June 3, 2009 using self-report questionnaires from 148 pairs of children and their parents. The children were enrolled in 4th to 6th grades. The questionnaires included the Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI), Parent-Child Communication (PCC) Scale, and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL). The data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 17.0 program. Results: The Quality of Life (QOL) score for the children was significantly higher among children reporting higher parental bonding attitude (mother r=.38, father r=.34) and parent-child communication (mother r=.43, father r=.36). Results of multiple regression showed that factors significantly associated with QOL were academic achievement, caregiver available after school, parent-child communication, school satisfaction, relationship with peers, and birth order among siblings. Conclusion: Positive relationships and good communication with parents and satisfaction with school life were important factors associated with quality of life in school age children.

청소년이 지각한 부모의 양육태도 유형: 부모의 삶의 만족도와 자아존중감의 영향력과 유형에 따른 청소년의 학업열의와 학업 무기력 (Parenting Attitudes Profiles as Perceived by Adolescents: The Influence of Parents' Life Satisfaction and Self-Esteem and Academic Engagement and Academic Helplessness of the Adolescents Associated with the Profiles)

  • The study set out to identify the number of types of parental attitude profiles and their characteristics, as perceived by adolescents. The study also examined whether predictor variables (parent life satisfaction and self-esteem) influence parenting attitude profiles and whether these profiles, in turn, influence adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The sample consisted of data on 2,590 adolescents and their parents from the 2018 Korean Children and Youths Panel Survey (KCYPS). The adolescents were in the first grade of middle school. Using Mplus, the author applied latent profile analysis to identify the parenting attitude profiles and predictor and outcome variables associated with these profiles. Three profiles were identified based on major features: (1) coercion-inconsistency (8.3%), (2) general (47.3%), and (3) warmth-autonomy support (44.4%). Parent life satisfaction and self-esteem predicted the classification of the profiles. Also, the parental profiles identified the level of adolescent academic engagement and academic helplessness. The findings have important implications for family policies and practices given the significance of parent psychological status, particularly life satisfaction and self-esteem, on their adolescent children's academic engagement and academic helplessness.

부모의 양육태도가 유아 행동평가 척도에 미치는 영향 연구 (Effects of Parenting Attitude on K-CBCL Scales)

  • Objectives The aim of this study was to explore the effect of parental attitude on the behavioral problems in children who visited the traditional Korean pediatrics clinic. Methods The subjects were consist of 190 outpatients ($56.6{\pm}12.9$ months) and their mother. The Behavior problems of children were measured with Korean version of Child Behavior Checklist for Ages 1.5-5 (K-CBCL1.5-5) while parental perception of child vulnerability, parent overprotection, parenting stress were measured by Child Vulnerability Scale (CVS), Parent Protection Scale (PPS), Korean-Parenting Stress Index-Short Form scale (K-PSI-SF), respectively. Correlation and multiple regression were conducted for the analysis. Results Significant correlations between child total problems score and child vulnerability (r=.272, p<.001), parent overprotection (r=.243, p=.001), and parenting stress (r=.597, p<.001) were reported. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the parenting stress (${\beta}$=.548, p<.001) was a major predictor for the child behavior problems rather than child vulnerability and parent overprotection. Conclusions It was shown that the parenting stress has a significant influence on the emotional and behavioral development of children. These results can be useful for improving clinical diagnosis and treatment in traditional Korean pediatrics.

학령기 후기 아동의 또래관계, 부모 양육태도, 애착안정성 및 외로움 (Relationship of Peer Relationships, Perceived Parental Rearing Attitudes, Self-reported Attachment Security, to Loneliness in Upper Elementary School-age Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of peer relationships, self-reported attachment security, perceived parental rearing attitudes, and loneliness in upper elementary school-age children. Methods: The data were collected from 207 students in grades 5 or 6, and descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and Stepwise multiple regression were used with the SPSS/PC 12.0 program to analyze the data. Results: There was a significant difference in loneliness between the upper 25% and lower 25% groups of peer relationships, perceived parental rearing attitudes, and self-reported attachment security. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed affection-hostility in parental rearing attitudes, validation and conflict in peer relationships, and attachment security explained 39.6% of the total variance in loneliness. Conclusion: These results may contribute to a better understanding of loneliness in upper elementary school-age children. The results of the present study indicate a need to develop nursing interventions to prevent and manage children‘s loneliness.

초등학생 학부모의 자녀 흡연에 대한 인식 (Parental Awareness of Elementary School Student Smoking)

  • Purpose: This study examined the awareness and attitudes of parents of 5th and 6th graders toward own children smoking. Method: The participants were 766 parents of 5th and 6th graders in 11 elementary schools located in J city. Data were collected through questionnaires, which were constructed to include parents' recognition of harms to their own children cause by smoking, factors which influence their children to smoke, and parental supportive strategies to prevent smoking. Result: The percentage of parents who answered that they did not know if their children were smoking was 94.8%, while the percentage of parents who answered that they knew that their children were smoking was 3.5%. Only 30% of parents had actually spoken with their children about the dangers of smoking. The mean parental recognition of the dangers of smoking was 3.16 points. Parental strategy for preventing and prohibiting smoking with the higher mean scores included forbidding children from entering bars and nightclubs which had the highest scores at 3.55 points; forbidding the sale of cigarettes to children was next at 3.54 points. Conclusion: To prevent children from smoking, the role and attitude of parents is crucial. But the study results show that the role of parental guidance in preventing underage smoking was insufficient and under appreciated. Therefore, more systematic educational programs on preventing underage smoking are essential for parents.

부모의 방임 및 학대가 청소년의 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향 : 사회적 위축의 매개효과 (The Effects of Parents' Neglect and Abuse on the School Adjustment in Adolescents : The Mediating Effects of Social Withdrawal)

  • In this paper, the effects of parental neglect and abuse on school adjustment mediated by social withdrawal in adolescents were examined using a sample of 2,163 second grade middle school students(1,096 boys and 1,067 girls) from the Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) data set. All research variables were measured using self-reported questionnaires. They were analyzed by means of Structural Equation Modeling. The results indicated that parents' abuse had no direct effect, but there was an indirect effect on adolescents' school adjustment mediated by adolescents' social withdrawal. Parental neglect had a direct effect on adolescents' school adjustment and also had an indirect effect on adolescents' school adjustment mediated by social withdrawal. The results indicate that parental neglect is a more significant contributor than adolescents' social withdrawal on adolescents' school adjustment. The results of this study show that parenting attitude, more specifically parental neglect, tend to be more important factors on school adjustment compared to adolescents' psychological problems, such as social withdrawal in adolescence. Taken together, these findings suggest that interventions aimed at improving parental neglect and adolescents' social withdrawal need to be emphasized if adolescents are to better adjust to school life.

학령기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 「부모 참 역량」척도 개발 (Development of the 「Authentic Parental Competence Scale」 for Mothers with School-age Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the "Authentic Parental Competence Scale" for mothers with school-age children. Based on a literature review, the study found that 'authentic parental competence' could be divided into parenting comperence, self-system competence, and social competence. In addition, the scale comprised three factors consisting of 43. The study collected data through behavior event interview(BEI), focus group interview(FGI), and three times Delphi investigation. The scale for mothers of school-age children consisted of a total of 129 items, which included three different dimensions (knowledge, skill, and attitude), and four factors were extracted from factor analysis following a survey of 362 mothers. The factors were labeled as "ability of developmental positive parenting," "ability of playing a role as a citizen and making social contributions," "ability of self-understanding and interpersonal relations," and "ability of self-growth and self-determination." In addition, the results revealed that the "Authentic Parental Competence Scale" showed an appropriate level of construct validity, reliability of the scales, distribution of item response, and item discrimination.

유아기 부모를 위한 부모역할지능척도(PIS)의 개발 (Study on Parental Intelligence Scale Development in Parent at Childhood)

  • This study is an attempt to develop the 'Parental Intelligence Scale', which can be applied in the parent education and counselling and provide more useful information for more appropriate interventions by evaluating the characteristics of parent's roles and strong/weak points of the parent's roles under the special situation and environments. In developing the scales, this study reviews of numbers of existing literatures, analysis of scales and tools on parent's role or attitude, collection of episodes on parent's role, validity check processes by field experts, and 2 rounds of factor analysis. The outcomes of the study are as follows; In regard of the development of Parental Intelligence Scale, 3 factors of care-giving role, management role, nurturing role were derived from the conceptual and measurement model. From these 3 factors, 8 sub-factors of empathy, encourage, enhancement, rational authoritativeness, flexibility, rejection, acceptance, control were constructed. 39 question items were derived in order to measure these sub-factors. Especially through the two rounds of factor analysis, the question items with enhanced internal consistency were derived and total cumulative variance was increased, which made theoretical model into the generalized model possible.

고등학생의 진로체험 유형과 부모지지가 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Career Experiential Learning and Parental Support on Career Maturity of High School Students)

  • 본 연구는 고등학생 진로성숙도를 함양하기 위하여 진로체험 유형과 부모지지가 진로성숙도 하위영역인 태도적 차원(진로계획성, 직업태도, 진로독립성)과 능력적 차원(자기이해, 진로탐색)에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 최근 1년 이내에 진로체험 프로그램에 참여한 경험이 있는 고등학교 1~3학년을 대상으로 온라인을 통해 자료를 수집하였으며, 최종 290명을 분석에 사용하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로성숙도의 태도적 차원인 진로계획성은 대화형, 견학 방문형 경험을 한 경우, 직업태도과 진로독립성 수준은 대화형, 견학 방문형, 현장체험형 경험을 한 경우 높게 나타났다. 능력적 차원인 자기이해와 진로탐색은 이론형, 대화형, 견학 방문형 경험이 있는 경우 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 진로관련 부모지지인 정서적, 정보적, 물질적 지지와 진로성숙도의 모든 하위영역은 유의미한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 셋째, 진로체험 유형이 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향력을 살펴본 결과, 대화형과 견학 방문형은 태도적 차원(진로계획성, 직업태도, 진로독립성)과 능력적 차원(자기이해, 진로탐색) 모두 진로성숙에 유의한 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났으며, 이론형은 능력적 차원에 영향을 끼치는 요인으로 나타났다. 다음으로 부모지지를 투입하여 체험유형과 부모지지가 진로성숙에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 살펴본 결과, 정서적 지지가 진로탐색을 제외한 모든 진로성숙의 하위영역에 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 정보적 지지는 진로계획성, 진로독립성, 진로탐색에 물질적 지지는 직업태도, 자기이해, 진로탐색에 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 고등학생 진로성숙도의 하위 역량을 함양하기 위한 진로체험 프로그램의 핵심 구성과 실행에 의미 있는 정보적 역할을 하며, 부모지지와 연계한 실천적 측면을 강조하는 진로교육 운영지침에 유용한 자료로 제공될 것이다.
