  • A draft tube which has impeller to elevate bottom water and spread it over surface of lake water, induces convective circulation of lake water, a Long-Distance Circulation (LDC). Circulation of lake water make stratified water mixed and enhance DO (Dissolved Oxygen) of bottom water. Circulation rate of water is determined by draft rate of the tube, which is dependent on design parameters of the draft tube system, i. e. dimension of impeller and diffuser, inclined angle of impeller, impeller shape, and rotational speed. In this study, change in draft rate and power consumption of circulation equipment was investigated numerically with changing impeller dimension, angle and rotational speed. It was found that flowrate of draft water was increased as the dimensions of draft tube and impeller, and rotational speed and inclined angle of impeller increased. The power consumption was also elevated with increasing parameter values, and final selection of parameter values was made to satisfy target flowrates and power consumption.

  • This paper explores different vibration control strategies for the cancellation of human-induced vibration on a structure with time-varying modal parameters. The main motivation of this study is a lively urban stress-ribbon footbridge (Pedro $G\acute{o}mez$ Bosque, Valladolid, Spain) that, after a whole-year monitoring, several natural frequencies within the band of interest (normal paring frequency range) have been tracked. The most perceptible vibration mode of the structure at approximately 1.8 Hz changes up to 20%. In order to find a solution for this real case, this paper takes the annual modal parameter estimates (approx. 14000 estimations) of this mode and designs three control strategies: a) a tuned mass damper (TMD) tuned to the most-repeated modal properties of the aforementioned mode, b) two semi-active TMD strategies, one with an on-off control law for the TMD damping, and other with frequency and damping tuned by updating the damper force. All strategies have been carefully compared considering two structure models: a) only the aforementioned mode and b) all the other tracked modes. The results have been compared considering human-induced vibrations and have helped the authors on making a decision of the most advisable strategy to be practically implemented.

  • If an error occurs in the automatic mode when the advanced teleoperator system performs a task in hostile environment then the automatic mode changes into the manual mode. The operation by the control program and the operation by a human recover the error in the manual mode. The system resumes the automatic mode and continues the given task. It is necessary to improve the manual mode in order to make the best use of a man-robot system, as a part of the human interface technique. Therefore, the error recovery task is performed by combining the operation by the control program representing autonomy of a robot and the operation by a human representing versatility of a human operator effectively in the view point of human factors engineering. The geometric inverse kinematics is used for the calculation of the robot joint values in the operation by the control program. The singularity operation error and the parameter operation error often occur in this procedure. These two operation errors increase the movement time of the robot and the coordinate reading time, during the error recovery task. A singularity algorithm, parameter algorithm and fuzzy control are studied so as to remove the disadvantages of geometric inverse kinematics. And the geometric straight line motion is studied so as to improve the disadvantages of the operation by a human.

  • A new method for determining the motion parameters (scale, rotation, translation) of 2-D image is introduced. It employs Hough transform that maps the straight lines in the input image to the points in the Hough space (HS). This method makes use of the relations between the motion of an object in input image and the translations of peak points in the HS and thus derives relating equations about motion parameters especially when scale changes are involved. The derived equations make is efficient and simple to estimate motion parameters of input image, even if the scale parameter of input image is varied. Performance of this approach on an aircraft image is provided in detail in the presence of noise.

  • The effect of dispersion in optical transmission system changes according to chirp and SPM. Chirp depends on the modulation condition of an external modulator. SPM is proportional to signal power. In this paper, we analyzed the pulse broadening due to SPM and chirp in the system with dispersion by using Split Step Fourier Method and calculated the optimum chirp parameter for 400 km transmission system. Experimental results are presented also.

  • This paper presents a torque ripple reduction method of direct torque control (DTC) using fuzzy controller with optimal selection strategy of voltage vectors in a five-phase induction motor. The conventional DTC method has some drawbacks. First, switching frequency changes according to the hysteresis bands and motor's speed. Second, the torque ripple is rapidly increased in long control period. In order to solve these problems, some/most papers have proposed torque ripple reduction methods by using the optimal duty ratio of the non-zero voltage vector. However, these methods are complicated in accordance with the parameter. If this drawback is eliminated, the torque ripple can be reduced compared with conventional method. In addition, the DTC can be simply controlled without the use of the parameter. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is changing the voltage vector insertion time by using the designed fuzzy controller. Also, the optimized voltage vector selection method is used in accordance with the torque error. Simulation and experimental results show effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

  • In this work, the TiO2 pigment influence in HDPE dielectric strength was analyzed. Chemical and structural characterizations were made to identify changes during the processing and your influence in the electrical properties, formulations containing 0, 0.5, 1, 2.5, 4 and 6 of titanium dioxide were processed by extrusion and injection molding with stabilization-antioxidants, ultraviolet stabilizers and plasticizers. The electrical strength tests were analyzed by the statistical distribution of Weibull, and the maximum likelihood method. The high concentrations present lower values to electrical strength. The parameter could be using to insulator panicles dispersion. The TiO2 concentration variation shows that these incorporations implicate strength values increase has a maximum (5,35MV/cm). High pigment concentration induces a little falls in property values. Observing the parameter, minimum experiment electric field (Ebmin) and electric strength value, found that the best electric perform formulation was the formulation with 2.5% TiO2 weight.

  • In this study, we proposes the method to improve the quality of the image through the edge extraction more delicately. Our method is named ESII(Edge Sensitive Image Interpolation) and doesn't use the fixed parameter of the interpolation kernel. However, it changes the parameter of pixel which is interpolated to the high definition image using the proper information from the surrounding pixels. It reconstructs the image by using the LSE(Least Square Error) and determining the pixel values to make the CME(Camera Modelling Error) minimized. Compared to the conventional methods, suggested method shows the higher quality of subjective and objective image definition and lessons the computational complexity by separating the image into 1-D data.

  • Mass transfer characteristics during osmotic dehydration of mushrooms(Agaricus bisporus) in sugar solution were studied as a function of sugar concentration, immersion time and temperature, and the effect of osmotic dehydration on browning inhibition of air-dried mushrooms was also evaluated. Increasing the sugar concentration, immersion time and temperature increased moisture loss, sugar gain, molality and rate parameter. The changes of sugar gain and rate parameter were more significantly affected by concentration than by temperature of sugar solutions, while 1$0^{\circ}C$ increase in temperature or 10 Brix increase in concentration had the same effect on water loss. Water loss, sugar gain, molality were rapid in the first period of osmotic dehydration especially in the case of higher concentration and temperature of sugar solutions. Effects of osmotic dehydration in sugar solution(60 Brix, 8$0^{\circ}C$) with 18 min of immersion time(O.D.=0.099) rior to air dehydration on browning inhibition of dried mushrooms were more significant than blanching in water(8$0^{\circ}C$) with the same immersion time(O.D.=0.330) and the control (O.D.=0.559).
