  • The 6DOF (degrees of freedom) Parallel Manipulators have some advantages that are high power, high rigidity, high precision for positioning and compact mechanism compared with conventional serial link manipulators. For these Parallel Manipulators, it can be expected to work in the new fields such that the medical operation, high-precision processing technology and so on. For this expectation, it is necessary to control the action reaction pair of forces which act between the Parallel Manipulator and the operated object. In this paper, we analyze the dynamics of the 6DOF Parallel Manipulator and present numerical simulation results.

  • The series and parallel connection is essential for increasing power ratings of resistive type for fault current limiters. To increase voltage class, components are connected in series and to increase current level to the nominal value, they are connected in parallel. There are two ways to connect components in series and parallel. First, connected in series and then the module connects to the parallel. Second, connected in parallel and the module connects to the series. We have studied for the two ways. In this paper, we particularly investigated way to connect components in parallel first This way has the advantage of inducing effective simultaneous quench without any other devices, for example, the thing which is inducing magnetic field to the limiting and shunt resistors. And also we studied for the endurance of component which is patterned to the bi-spiral for prospective fault current. It is very important to understand this, because SFCL will use as the only device to decrease burden of circuit breaker. As experimental results, limiting component patterned to bi-spiral endures fault current up to 30kA and it works well, in parallel to series connection,

  • In this paper, realization techniques of the parallel processing and the parallel network system for image processing are described. The parallel image processing system is constructed by the characterization of image processing and processor. Several problems are solved to achieve effective parallel processing and processor networking with the particular properties of image processing, which are reduction of communication quantity, equalization of load and delay depreciation on communication. A parallel image input device is developed for the flexible networking of parallel image processing. An abnormal region detection algorithm which is the basic function in machine vision is applied to evaluate the constructed parallel image processing system. The performance and effectiveness of the system are confirmed by experiments.

  • In this paper the system dynamic influences in actuators with variable stiffness as contemporary used in robotics for safety and efficiency reasons are investigated. Therefore, different configurations of serial and parallel elasticities are modeled by dynamic equations and linearized transfer functions. The latter ones are used to identify the characteristic behavior of the different systems and to study the effect of the different elasticities. As such actuation concepts are often used to reach energy-efficient operation, a power consumption analysis of the configurations is performed. From the comparison of this with the system dynamics, strategies to select and control stiffness are derived. Those are based on matching the natural frequencies or antiresonance modes of the actuation system to the frequency of the trajectory. Results show that exclusive serial and parallel elasticity can minimize power consumption when tuning the system to the natural frequencies. Antiresonance modes are an additional possibility for stiffness control in the series elastic setup. Configurations combining both types of elasticities do not provide further advantages regarding power reduction but an input parallel elasticity might enable for more versatile stiffness selection. Yet, design and control effort increase in such solutions. Topologies incorporating output parallel elasticity showed not to be beneficial in the chosen example but might do so in specific applications.

  • Parallel lines are often used to increase production rate in many manufacturing systems where the main line splits into several lines in parallel, and after some operations, they merge into a main line again. Queueing networks with finite buffers have been widely used for modeling and analyzing manufacturing systems. This paper provides an approximation technique for multi-server two-stage networks with merge configuration and blocking which will be a building block for analysis of general manufacturing systems with parallel lines and merge configuration. The main idea of the method is to decompose the original system into subsystems that have two service stations with multiple servers, two buffers and external arrivals to the second stage are allowed. The subsystems are modeled by level dependent quasi-birth-and-death (LDQBD) process.

  • In this pattern recognition on the large volumes of remote sensing satellite images, the inference time is much increased. In the case of the remote sensing data [5] having 4 wavebands, the 778 training patterns are learned. Each land cover pattern is classified by using 159, 900 patterns including the trained patterns. For the fuzzy classification, the 778 fuzzy rules are generated. Each fuzzy rule has 4 fuzzy variables in the condition part. Therefore, high performance parallel fuzzy inference system is needed. In this paper, we propose a novel parallel fuzzy inference system on T3E parallel computer. In this, fuzzy rules are distributed and executed simultaneously. The ONE_To_ALL algorithm is used to broadcast the fuzzy input to the all nodes. The results of the MIN/MAX operations are transferred to the output processor by the ALL_TO_ONE algorithm. By parallel processing of the fuzzy rules, the parallel fuzzy inference algorithm extracts match parallelism and achieves a good speed factor. This system can be used in a large expert system that ha many inference variables in the condition and the consequent part.

  • This paper presents the analysis of the kinematics and dynamics of redundant parallel manipulators, and provides design guides for advanced parallel mainpulators with high performance. Three types of redundancies are considered which include the redundancies in serial chain, joint actuation, and parallelism. First, the kinematic and dynamic models of a redundant parallel manipulator are obtained in both joint and Cartesian spaces, and the kinematic and dynamic manipulabilities are defined for the performance evaluation. The effects of the three types of redundancies on the kinematic and dynamic performance of a parallel manipulator are then analyzed and compared, providing a set of guides for the design of advanced parallel manipulators. Finally, the simulation results using planer parallel manipulators are given.

  • When an underground pipeline runs parallel with DC traction systems, it suffers from DC traction interference. Because the train is fed by the substation through the overhead wire and return current back to the substation via the rails. If these return rails are poorly insulated from earth, DC current leak into the earth and can be picked up by nearby pipeline. It may bring about large-scale accidents even in cathodically protected systems. In this paper we analyze the influence on parallel pipelines of distributed ICCP(impressed current cathodic protection) systems for mitigation of DC traction interference using the simulation software CatPro.

  • This paper introduces the joint structural importance of two components in a coherent system. Some relationships between joint structural importance and marginal structural importance are presented. It is shown that the sign of Joint structural importance can be determined, in advance, without computation in some special structures. The joint structural importance of two components in some series-parallel and parallel-series systems are established. Some practical examples are presented to elucidate some of the derived results.
