  • The crystal structure of cholesteryl hemisuccinate ($C_{31}H_{50}O_4$) was investigated by X-ray diffraction method. The cholesterol fragment of the title compound were in good agreement with those for related cholesterol derivatives. The unit cell contains four cholesteryl hemisuccinate molecules that are not related by crystal symmetry and have their tetracyclic system almost parellel to each other. There are two pairs of hydrogen-bonded dimer between A and D molecules and B and C molecules. These two hydrogen-bonded dimers are parallel to the c-axis, and are closely packed.

  • Energy is a scarce resource in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). A variety of clustering protocols for WSNs, such as the zone-based stable election protocol-enhanced (ZSEP-E), have been developed for energy optimization. The ZSEP-E is a heterogeneous zone-based clustering protocol that focuses on unbalanced energy consumption with parallel formation of clusters in zones and election of cluster heads (CHs). Most ZSEP-E research has assumed probabilistic election of CHs in the zones by considering the maximum residual energy of nodes. However, studies of the diverse CH election parameters are lacking. We investigated the performance of the ZSEP-E in such scenarios using a fuzzy logic approach based on three descriptors, i.e., energy, density, and the distance from the node to the base station. We proposed an efficient ZSEP-E scheme to adapt and elect CHs in zones using fuzzy variables and evaluated its performance for different energy levels in the zones.

  • To insure accuracy in dental roentgenographs, it is important that the patient's head position and angulation of the x-ray tube. In 1907 Cieszynski applied the rule of isometry to dental radiography and established that in the production of an accurate image of a tooth, the central ray must be porjected perpendicularly to a plane bisecting angle formed by the longitudinal axis of the tooth and the film plane. Proper exposure of the film is a part of the production of a good dental radiograph, and correct processing also makes an essential contribution to the quality of the radiograph. The author analysed the failure of exposure and processing results, and recommended followings. 1. The patient head must be positioned that occlusal plane are parallel with the horizontal floor. 2. Central ray must be projected to the objective tooth and supporting structure and projected as perpendicularly to tooth axis and film surface as possible. 3. In processing, the temperature of the solution and the processing time must be correct.

  • conflicting criterial used in identifying words have called the lexical integrity principle into question. That is, cases where the morphological word does not coincide with the syntactic word have notivated the syntactic view of word derivation, as pointed out by Bresnan and Mchombo(1995). Further, the implicit desire to make the clausal structure of Korean parallel to those posited for English(Chomsky 1991) and French(Pollock 1989) has also led most of the current literature on Korean morphology to claim that Korean verbal inflections head their own functional projections such as AgrP, TP, and MP im syntax. In this paper, I will first argue against such a syntactic view. After reviewing some basic properties of Korean verbal inflections, I will show that the evidence from mismatch phenomena supports the lexical integrity principle over the head-movement theories of word derivation. Then, I will propose a theory of lexical grammar which maintains the lexical integrity principle while retaining the effects of functional projections and syntactic movement.

  • In this study, random flow field in a nonstationary porous formation is characterized through cross covariances of the velocity with the log conductivity and the head. The hydraulic head and the velocity in saturated aquifers are found through stochastic analysis of a steady, two-dimensional flow field without recharge. Expression for these cross covariances are obtained in quasi-analytic forms all in terms of the parameters which characterize the nonstationary conductivity field and the average head gradient. The cross covariances with a Gaussian correlation function for the log conductivity are presented for two particular cases where the trend is either parallel or perpendicular to the mean head gradient and for separation distances along and across the mean flow direction. The results may be of particular importance in transport predictions and conditioning on field measurements when the log conductivity field is suspected to be nonstationary and also serve as a benchmark for testing nonstationary numerical codes. Keywords : cross covariance, nonstationary conductivity field, saturated aquifer, stochastic analysis.

  • This study attempted to analyze the distribution of stress, to examine the bending effect in the mandible according to the pulling directions and determine on which pulling directions are adequate when an orthopedic force was applied to the mandible. An orthopedic force, 500gm, was applied to the gnathion, one point of the chin area, in three directions. The three directions were ; high puli' from gnathion to the center of condyle head, and vertical pull, from gnathion to a parallel line with the posterior border of the ramus, and medium pull, from the gnathion to a parallel line with the lower border of mandible. The distribution of principal stress, bending moment and amount of displacement within the mandible was analyzed by a 3-dimensional finite element method and that of the various portions of mandible were computed and compared according to the pulling directions. The results were as follows : 1. The bending moment of each part of a mandible has been found to be markedly larger in case of vertical pull than in case of either high pull or medium pull. In vertical pull the bending moment turned out to largest at the condyle head and neck portion, the gonial angle portion, the coronoid portion and the ascending ramus portion, respectively, while comparatively large at the cuspid and bicuspid portion and the first molar portion. In case of high pull it was largest at the gonial angle portion and becoming smaller at the coronoid portion, the ascending ramus portion, the condyle head and neck portion, and the cuspid and bicuspid portion, in that order. In case of medium pull, however, the bending moment was largest at the condyle head and neck portion, becoming smaller at the first molar portion, the ascending ramus portion, the coronoid portion, the cuspid and bicuspid portion, and gonial angle portion, in that order. 2. As for the bending effect it was calculated to be mostly oriented downward at the mandibular body and backward at the mandibular ramus in both high pull and vertical pull. In case of medium pull it was oriented upward at the mandibular body and forward at the mandibular ramus. 3. The bending effect also turned out to be mostly oriented outward in case of high pull and medium pull, and inward in vertical pull. 4. At the mandibular body and ramus, the bending effect in the upward-downward direction and that in the forward-backward direction were found to be larger than in the inward-outward direction. 5. If and when we expect any correcting effect on the mandibular protrusion by means of the chin cup appliance, we can say sure as conclusion that high pull and vertical pull are more effective than medium pull.

  • The effect of vortex finder confiqurations on the PM-10 collection efficiencies has been investigated using 7 different types of cyclones. Cyclone inlet velocities were calculated by computational fluid dynamics analysis and PM-10 collection efficiencies were measured from experimental apparatus. The inlet velocities of normal, P and A type cyclones were calculated 15.48 m/sec, 16.03 m/sec and 15.9 m/sec, respectively while experimental results show that PM-10 collection efficiencies were increased 4% for P type and 7% for A type cyclones compared to normal cyclone. Also it was found that there exist optimum parallel head lengths for both P and A type cyclones to maximize the PM-10 collection efficiencies.

  • Physical therapists are exposured to radio-and microwave-frequency electromagnetic radiation by operating electrotherapy units. So there is few protection system in physical therapy room. Clinical pathology room and so on where various kins of electromagnetic instruments is used in hospital while protection failities like protection wall or protection glass is being used only in radiological room to reduce the damage of radiation. Acoording to Larsen's survey on female physical therapist in denmark. it was said that the percentage of congenital malfornation was $3.6\%$ and cadiac malformation made up $0.7\%$. It is likely that effect of electromagnetic fields on the result cannot be ruled out. Rita ouellet-Hellstron and Walter F. Steward insisted that the danger of abortion increase in the case of pregnant femeal physical therapist exposured to microwave diathermy. The intention of our study is arousing the necessity of microwave protection in P.T room and finding the proper method for physical therapist safe. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Each electrotherapy units are occurrenced the electromagnetic fields, and specially amply occurrenced in H.P,I.C.T 2 unit operating, M.W.D unit head on parallel, S.W.D unit head on parallel. all electrotherapy units are operating. 2. • In this study, we use a parallel simulator PASENS(Parallel SEnsor Network Simulator) to predict power consumption and data reception rate of the hierarchical routing protocols for sensor network - LEACH (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), TL-LEACH (Two Level Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), M-LEACH (Multi hop Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) and LEACH-C (LEACH-Centralized). According to simulation results, M-LEACH routing protocol shows the highest data reception rate for the wider area, since more sensor nodes are involved in the data transmission. And LEACH-C routing protocol, where the sink node considers the entire node's residual energy and location to determine the cluster head, results in the most efficient energy consumption and in the narrow area needed long life of sensor network.
