  • 최근 컴퓨터와 네트워크 기술이 빠르게 발전하고 널리 보급되면서 텍스트 위주로 작업을 하던 어플리케이션들의 비중이 낮아지고 멀티미디어 데이터를 처리하는 어플리케이션들의 비중이 점차 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 다양한 멀티미디어들 중에서 영화같은 동영상 멀티미디어를 다루는 프로그램들은 멀티미디어 응용 어플리케이션들 중에서 큰 비중을 차지하고 있으며 실생활에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 대표적인 동영상 압축 표준인 MPEG의 경우 매우 높은 압축률을 제공하여 일반 사용자들도 손쉽게 동영상 데이터를 접하고 사용할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 하지만 MPEG 인코딩은 매우 많은 컴퓨팅 자원과 시간을 요하는 작업이다. 본 연구에서는 동영상 데이터를 인코딩 하는데 소요되는 시간과 자원을 감소시키기 위해 클러스터환경에서 MPI를 이용하여 동영상 압축 표준인 MPEG-2 기반의 Parallel Encoder를 설계 및 구현하였다.

Improved Droop Method for Converter Parallel Operation in Large-Screen LCD TV Applications

  • Current sharing between modules in a converter parallel operation is very important for the reliability of the system. This paper proposes an improved droop method that can effectively improve current sharing accuracy. The proposed method adaptively adjusts the output voltage set-point of each module according to the current set-points. Unlike conventional droop control, modules share a signal line to communicate with each other. Nevertheless, since signals are simple and in digital form, the complexity of the circuitry is much less and noise immunity is much better than those of conventional methods utilizing communication. The operation principle and design procedure of the proposed method are described in detail. Results of the experiment on two boost converters operating in parallel under the specification of a TFT LCD TV panel power supply verify the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • In the field of structural analysis so-called substructure methods have been applied extensively to solve large and complex structures by splitting them up in substructures. This substructure method is applicable to electromagnetic field analysis and highly parallel in nature. In this paper substructure FEM is implemented for magnetostatic field computation using parallel computer consists of many transputers. Parallel substructure method is a promising tool as a solution of not only compuation speed problem but also memory problem.

High-speed Fuzzy Inference System in Integrated GUI Environment

  • We propose an intgrated Gill environment system having only integer fuzzy operations in the consequent part and the defuzzification stage. In this paper, we also propose an integrated Gill environment system with 4 parallel fuzzy processing units to be operated in parallel on the classification of the sensed image data. In this, we solve the problems of taking longer times as the fuzzy real computations of [0, 1] by using the integer pixel conversion algorithm to convert lines of each fuzzy linguistic term to the closest integer pixels. This procedure is performed automatically in the GUI application program. As a Gill environment, PCI transmission, image data pre-processing, integer pixel mapping and fuzzy membership tuning are considered. This system can be operated in parallel manner for MIMO or MISO systems.

  • Parallel NC machines are a new generation of machine tools aimed at increasing maching accuracy and reducing part cycle time. In addition to their capacity to perform both milling and turning operations, these machine tools can perform multiple machining operations simultaneously,involving one or more parts at a time, and can completely finish a part in a single setup. Due to the lack of a computer-aided process planning system, these machines are used in industry today as dedicated, mass-production machines. This pape presents methodology for generating optimal process plan for each parallel machine tool using a genetic algorithm.

  • In case of design of a rectifier to supply high current, To select switching frequency of semiconductor switches affect absolutely the design of the LC filter value in an power conversion circuit. The conventional rectifier by using MOSFET is no use in high current equipments because of small drain-source current. To solve this problem, this paper proposes to design of high capacity rectifier by parallel driving of MOSFET in the single half bridge DC-DC converter. This method can be able to develop high current rectifier by distributed drain-source current. The proposed scheme is able to expect a decrease in size, weight and cost of production by decreasing the LC filter value and increasing maximumly the switching frequency. The validity of the proposed parallel driving strategy is verified through computer-aided simulations and experimental results.

  • In this paper, we consider the series and parallel system which include two components. We assume that the lifetimes of two components follow the bivariate Pareto model with random censored data. We obtain the estimators and approximated confidence intervals of the reliabilities for series and parallel systems based on maximum likelihood estimator and the relative frequency, respectively. Also we present a numerical example by giving a data set which is generated by computer.

  • The problem of electromagnetic coupling between a slit fed by a flanged parallel-plate waveguide(PPW) and a slit in an infinite nearby conducting screen parallel to the flanged ground conductor is studied as a simplified problem for a near-field scanning microscopy(NSM). The method of moments isused to solve the coupled integral equations for the electric field distributions over the slits. The performance of the proposed apparatus as an NSM is tested by examining the effects of some geometrical parameters on the equivalent slit admittance and coupled powers through the slits.

  • CFD code that simulates stator-rotor interactions is developed applying parallel computing method. Modified Multi-Block Grid System which enhances perpendicularity in grid and is appropriate in parallel processing is introduced and Patched Algorithm is applied in sliding interface which is caused by movement of rotor. The experimental model in the turbo-machine is composed of 11 stators and 14 rotors. Analyses on two test cases which are one stator - one rotor model and three stators - four rotors model are performed. The results of the two cases have been compared with the experimental test data.

  • This paper presents the development of the I/O Interface for the real time parallel data communication between controller of a six-axis industrial robot(CRS-A460) and an external computer. The proposed I/O Interface consists of the hardware I/O interface and the software that is downloaded to the robot controller and executed by the controller operating system. The constitution of the digital I/O Port for CRS-A460 robot controller and the digital I/O board for IBM-PC are presented as well as the Process Control Program of the robot controller. The developed protocol for the parallel data communication is described. The data communication is tested, and the performance is analysed. In particular, it is shown that the real-time constraint of the robot controller process is satisfied.
