  • Due to the selectivity of the involvement by the M, leprae, the deformities are characteristic ones. It is estimated that from $25\%\;to\;88.4\%$ of the patients with leprosy possess deformities are numerous and often multiple. The chief modalities employed in physical therapy of the leprosy are : Paraffin baths, oil massages, foot baths, exercises, splinting.

  • The target of this work was the process development of demonstration plant to produce the high quality alternative fuel oil by the pyrolysis of mixed plastic waste. In the first step of research, the bench-scale units of 70 t/y and the pilot plant of 360 t/y had been developed. Main research contents in this step were the process performance test of pilot plant of 360 ton/year and the development of demonstration plant of 3,000 t/y, which was constructed at Korea R & D Company in Kimjae City. The process performance of pilot plant of 360 t/y showed about 80% yield of liquid product, which was obtained by both light gas oil(LGO) and heavy gas oil(HGO), The boiling point range distribution of LO product that was mainly consisting of olefin components in PONA group appeared at between that of commercial gasoline and kerosene. On the other hand, HO product was mainly paraffin and olefin components and also appeared at upper temperature distribution range than commercial diesel. Gas product showed a high fraction of $C_3\;and\;C_4$ product like LPG composition, but also a high fraction of $CO_2$ and CO by probably a little leak of process.

  • There have been significant improvements in base oil quality in order to satisfy recent market needs. In particular requirements of passenger car motor oils have been leading the trend. Now, high quality base oils such as VHVI base oils and PAOs are to be formulated in order to meet the tight volatility specifications. The severe hydrocracking, hydro-isomerized dewaxing and hydro-finishing process with noble-metal based catalysts (named UCO lube process) developed by SK corporation has been introduced as one of economic hydroprocessing routes to produce high quality VHVI base oils and food grade white mineral oils from fuels hydrocracker residue. Product quality of UCO lube process is similar to PAO in. general performances and therefore provides satisfactory performance far all straightforward applications in general lubricants. However, when applied to specialty lubricants like transformer oils, spray oils and coning oils, severely hydrocracked base oils are known to have various compatibility problems with gas or surfactants formulated in them. These problems are related to the difference in their composition; inherent high paraffin contents and lack of dissolving ability, Fortunately, it was found that excellent specialty lubricants could be made by carefully selecting and formulating adequate additives and/or aromatic compounds. Moreover, these specialties with high quality VHVI base oils ofter various advantages over conventional base oil based products.

  • Spin finish(NSFs) for synthetic fiber were prepared. NSF-3 was proved to be the best spin finish by testing the properties and emulsion stability, etc. of NSFs. NSF-3 prepared by blending of spindle oil 70g, paraffin wax 10g, glyceryl mono-oleate 5g, POE(10) nonylphenyl ether 4g, POE(20) sorbitan tri-oleate 4g, Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate 4g, antistatic agent 2g and water 1g was excellent in its characteristics. Optimum physical conditions of nylon filament treated with NSF-3 according to the number of revolution of oil roller were obtained at conditions of 5.5rpm in the number of revolution of oil roller, 1.21% of oil pick up, and denier 69.2D.

  • Spin finish(SF) for nylon filament was prepared. The influence on the properties of filament obtained by treating the prepared spin finish in this study(SF-2) and foreign-made spin finish(Spinnar N-100) was compared. SF-2 prepared by blending of spindle oil 70g, paraffin wax 10g, glyceryl mono-oleate 5g, POE(6) nonylphenyl ether 4g, POE(10) nonylphenyl ether 4g, POE(10) octylphenyl ether 2g, POE(14) mono-oleate 4g and water 1g was excellent in its characteristics. Some of the properties of Nylon filament treated with SF-2 were better than those treated with Spinnar N-100. Also, optimal physical conditions of nylon filament according to the number of revolution of oil roller were obtained at conditions of 5rpm of number of revolution oil roller, 1.25% of SF-2 oil pick up, and denier 69D.

  • Low operational cost and high efficiency is absolute requirements in the mass production of the ship engine. Increasing the performance of the fuel injection system in the diesel engine is one kind of solution to improve the efficiency. Modern diesel engines are using electronic control module as the main controller in the fuel injection control system, however the mechanical system still involved in the modern control system. In modern ship engine, a control valve was used in injection fuel to regulate the flow of the fuel. High pressure and friction are intensively occur within this part, therefore high wear resist and low friction coefficient material including fine lubricating are needed. This study is to figure out the wear resist material and proper lubricant in the control valve fuel injection. The experiment has been tested using pin on disk in several treatments those are used various lubricants and non-lubricant condition. Two kinds of lubricant were used in this experiment such as INDERIN AW-32 and paraffin oil. INDERIN AW-32 has a better result compared to non-lubricant condition, which are 20% performance increases than non-lubricant condition. SCM 440 was providing small friction coefficient in the lower velocity. The friction coefficient was constantly maintains at 0.1 m/s of velocity or above respectively with the increment of the loads. Using INDERIN AW-32 and paraffin oil the lowest friction coefficient occurred at the lower load, and increases side by side with the increment of loads.

  • Wax components can be precipitated when surrounding temperature decreases below wax precipitation temperature (WAT). WAT as well as pour point are important characteristics to evaluate the behavior of waxy oils. In this study, qualitative and quantitative evaluations of waxes in waxy model oils were presented after determining WAT and pour point. In case of anhydrous waxy model oils, ASTM D2500 may be most useful to determine WAT because of the transparent nature of model oils. With same apparatus, ASTM D97 is also applicable to determine the pour point of waxy oils in a serial determination. In case of emulsified model oils, however, it is difficult to measure WAT because of its opaque nature. This study employed FTIR spectroscopy to determine wax precipitation temperature and discussed the effect of emulsion state regarding the values of WAT. Further study would be needed to conclude the effect of water contents to WAT values in case of emulsified waxy oil.

  • The stability of liquid membrane in the extraction process was investigated through the extraction of the Zn component by using W/O/W emulsion type liquid surfactant membrane which was $D_2EHPA-Kerosene-Span$ $80-H_2SO_4$ system. The highest stability for liquid membrane through the Zn extraction process was obtained under the following conditions. That conditions were that span 80 concentration, as surfactant, of 2~3 vol.%;$D_2EHPA$ concentration, as extractant, of 5~7 vol.%;paraffin oil concentration, as membrane strengthening agent, of 10 vol.%;emulsion volume ratio to the external aqueous phase volume of 0.1, and internal aqueous phase volume ratio to the organic phase volume of 1.0.
