This investigates the type of pants preferred by Korean men in their 20s through a subjective wear test. Six types of men's pants were developed as experimental garments. The male subjects were university students between the ages of 20 and 24. Subjective wear sensations of the experimental pants were rated using seven Likert scales. A 7-point Likert-type scale was used for the evaluation, with 7 indicating the best fit. As a result, a basic men's sloper for lower body clothing was developed based on SizeKorea 2004 anthropometric measurements surveyed between 2003 and 2004. A basic pattern (A) was manipulated to tight-fit pants (E) and loose-fit pants (D, L, M, and N) by considering the ease at hip level and the style. Among the six pants, pants D and L (4cm ease at hip level) were found to be superior to others in terms of comfort, fitting, and crotch depth. With regard to ease and comfort of the crotch part, pants E and A (0cm ease at hip level) were found to be the least preferred.

A literature review and survey were conducted regarding the silhouette changes in bell bottom pants and the overall visual evaluation in accordance with the changes. The survey was disseminated from December 2015 to January 2016 to 245 women in their 20s living in Busan. The variables used for the silhouette changes in bell bottom pants were the volume of flare and the flare's starting point, and 20 pairs of terms were selected for visual evaluation. The results of the study are as follows: 1. Visual evaluations according to the volume of flare in bell bottoms indicated that females in their 20s appraised pants with a flare volume of 54 cm close to a straight silhouette and flare volume of 62 cm (recognized clearly as characteristic of bell bottom pants) to be more attractive and sophisticated than pants with flare volumes of 70 cm and 78 cm. 2.Visual evaluations according to the starting point of the flare in bell bottom pants showed that women appraised their legs as looking thinner when the flare started near the thighs. In a vertical visual evaluation, women appraised that their legs looked longer when the flare started near the knees and pants fit tightly around them. 3.The analysis of silhouette factors affecting the visual evaluation of bell bottom pants indicated that the volume of flare has more effect visually than the starting point of the flare.

This study aimed at proving the fact that Men also wear SOKGOT similar to women's pants in early Chosun era unlike the general opinion that the men's pants is SAPOK-BAJI. From what SAPOK-BAJI didn't show up in the contemporary remains and the fact that men also wear GAE-DANG-GO (the pants opened low parts). which is one of SOKGOT types in ancient time of China, the assumption above can be guessed. Since the clothes style in Chosun era centered on PO. and the pants were designed not to show out. it can be considered there are any troubles for men to wear the SOKGOT style pants. But through Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 and Chinese invasion of Korea in 1636. changes happened. Due to reflection and awaking about wide and burdensome clothes. the change seemed to be happened from wide SOKGOT style to narrow SAPOK style. The SOKGOT style pants seemed to settle down for women's only as men's pants become SAPOK-BAJI.

Pants is an item of clothes of which physical suitability for improvement of appearance and movement is greatly emphasized. The pattern design of pants is very important because the fitness of crotch region, which is difficult to measure, is structurally essential in pants. This study gives detailed pattern development data for the future pattern design by considering design factors related with crotch region of pants and by suggesting related data. For this study, we measured and analyzed the measuring size of each parts of pattern and the design methods related with crotch region selecting 20 textbooks used in universities and institutes of higher education. Through this study, crotch region of pants pattern related design data were obtained and this result could be a primary information in development and education of pants pattern.

The goal of this study is to support the children's pants construction methods that secure clothing size and fit appropriateness through proposed improvements of denim pants construction method focusing on 4-year-old boys. Depths interview on the actual condition, measurements and calculations for positions and ease of the clothing points corresponding to the body points actually worn were conducted for 47 denim pants of nine boys. "Characteristics of the areas worn" and "physical characteristics of lower body" were analyzed, and improvements of 4-year-old children's denim pants construction method were proposed. As the results, the different figures in "characteristics of the areas worn" between the existing children's pants construction methods and children's actual wearing habits were found, and identification of distinct children's lower body from adults' supports that we should avoid tracing adults' methods without reasons. Children's pants construction method on basis of actual wearing should be devised to solve fit problems. Improvements of children's method were proposed such as ease of girth by different area worn, ease of "elastic waist girth", the difference between "elastic waist girth" and "pattern waist girth", and the difference between "pattern waist girth" and "pattern hip girth" as considerations of pants girth items, and appropriate position "clothing waist girth" "pants hip length" level, "pants crotch length" level, "clothing knee length" level, and "pants outside length" level for pattern making as considerations of clothing length items.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of clothing coloring and type of pants/skirt as clothing cues on impression of college female students. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scales. Thirty two color pictures of various combinations of colors for shirt, and colors and type of pants/skirt were manipulated on computer drawing. For visual evaluation of women's casual wears about colors and type, 7-point scales were designed. The subjects consist of 192 female and male undergraduate students in Chinju city. The results of this study can be summaried as follow: As analyzing the impression of female figure by the color of shirt and the color and type of pants/skirt, five factors including appearance valuation, concentration of attention, clearness, stability, and activity were found to be important. Color of shirt have significant effects on appearance valuation, concentration of attention, clearness, stability, and activity. Color of pants and shirt also have significant effects on all five factors. Especially, they strongest predictors for stability and activity. Type of pants/skirt significantly effects on concentration of attention and activity. In the effects of interactions between each variable, the combination of pants colors and type of pants/skirt had significant effects on appearance valuation, stability factors. Also shirt and pants colors had an significant effects on appearance valuation, stability, and activity. But in the impression formation of concentration of attention and clearness, only the combination of shirt colors and pants forms was more significant.

The construction of athlete's tight-fitting garments by reducing the elastic knit pattern is an interesting subject, which directly influences the performance of the wearer. Therefore, relationships between the reduction rates of the men's pants pattern obtained using measurements of Size Korea 2004 and clothing fitting were explored to improve clothing comfort. Two pattern making methods were developed and the reduction rates were applied to those pants depending on the parts of human body. The four male subjects were university students in the ages of 20 to 24. Subjective wear sensations of the experimental garments were rated using seven Likert scales during 4 consecutive days. While wearing the garments, subjects were kept four various postures including waist flexion and sitting etc by requests of the researchers. Likert type scale was used for the evaluation and 7 point indicates that it gave the best fit as tight-fitting pants. As results, differences in the length and girth between two piece pants pattern(style 1) and one piece pants pattern(style 2) were 0.0$\sim$0.3cm. Between two pattern making methods, one piece pants pattern(the style 2) was superior to two piece pants pattern in terms of subjective sensation and fit. Among eight tight-fitting pants, C, D, G, H pants were superior in terms of fitting and stability of waist and hip part to the others. ill case of tight-fitting pants, the reduction rate of the pattern in the course direction, the reduction rate of T2/3(66%) was better than that of T/2(50%), but the reduction rate of the pattern in the wale direction, that of the part of crotch, which was very sensitive part, should be kept the same as suggested earlier by Ziegert(1988).

Articles from The New York Times and magazines including Consumer Digest, Journal of Home Economics, Scholastic, Time and Woman's Home Companion were analyzed in this study and focused on the following research questions: How did the social situation influence American women's adoption of pants during World War II? How were the social opinions of women's adoption of pants? How did American women's adoption of pants and the social opinions on women's pants represent the process of change in the definition of femininity during World War II? Women were encouraged to wear pants in work places because many women had to work in defense industries and farms. Women had to wear pants during the winter to keep warm in order to conserve oil, rubber, and other materials. In addition, wearing men's clothes became a fashion trend among college women during this period. However, practicality was often not the primary thing alone to consider in women's fashion. Femininity was still important in women's fashion. There were criticisms over the women's adoption of pants. Regulations against pants were imposed on women, while there were women who wanted to dress like ladies even at defense industries. An abrupt change in women's gender roles and the increased adoption of trousers aroused social ambivalence about the traditional definition of femininity. Even though many women returned to their homes after the war, the social demand of practicality in women's day-time clothes during the war offered women the experience of comfort and practicality in pants. These experiences contributed to paving the way for more women to adopt pants and helped establishing a new definition of femininity after the war.

This study was carried out to offer basic data that can be used for the production of outdoor pants for active senior males, which is emerging as a new consumer bracket in the rapidly aging society. To this end, this study modified and complemented the patterns of existing outdoor pants for active senior males, that received the most positive evaluations. On the basis of the research and outdoor wear assessment results, this study proposed the matters to consider in the manufacturing of outdoor pants for active senior males. As a result of the existing outdoor wear's wearing assessment, the pants of brand C were revealed to be the best. This study actually designed research outdoor wear by modifying the problematic parts by adding and subtracting spare length or circumference, on parts where fit satisfaction was low, and by referring to the selected brands' patterns. The research outdoor pants were designed by referring to the preferred outdoor types and colors that were revealed in the survey results. The wearing assessment was conducted by comparing the manufactured research outdoor pants and the existing outdoor pants, which were selected as the best outdoor pants. Consequently, this study verified the fit of the research outdoor pants was superior to most items. This study proposed the final patterns of outdoor pants suitable for active senior males through the modification of several items that required some improvements revealed via the wearing assessment of the research outdoor.

The purpose of this study consist in the investigation into the pants wearing practices and preference with arthritis patient of aged female and the gathering of basic data to help to their clothing lifestyle. For this study, personal interviews were carried out with 124 arthritis patients of aged female over 65 year old and data analysis were done with SPSS. The results of the study are that on pants wearing practices with the subjects of aged female arthritis patient showed that many persons experience inconvenience for both knees and the wearing of knee protectors which use a purpose of a reducing pain such as they feel inconvenience of knee showed a high rate of 79.8% during winter. They purchased the pants with much space in the knee part or span trousers in consideration of knee protector wearing. When they purchase the pants, they attached great importance to the convenience or activities during their wearing period, prices, and the pants which were wide at the thigh, narrow at the pants hole, hanging down to the anklebones, and setting over the waistline as for the pants' waist position. The arthritis patients who felt uncomfortable at knees paid attention to the excellent materials at keeping warmth and with good flexibility.
