The Dielectric Characteristics of Turn-to-Turn Insulation for DC Reactor Type HTSFCL (DC reactor type 고온호전도 한류기의 턴간 절연 특성)

  • Fault current limiters (FCL) are extensively needed to suppress fault currents, especially for trunk power systems heavily connected to high voltage/large current transmission lines. Due to its ideal electrical behavior, high-temperature superconductor fault current limiter (HTSFCL) becomes one of the most important developing trends of limiters in power system. This paper describes the result of an investigation of the dielectric characteristics of turn-to-turn insulation for pancake and solenoid type reactor coil in liquid nitrogen. The influence of thickness in a variety length, on AC, DC and impulse surface flashover has been investigated. Also, the relationships between the number of turn and breakdown characteristics were clarified. The information gathered in this test series should be helpful in the design of liquid nitrogen filled DC reactor type HTSFCL.

  • This paper deals with the preliminary study on the HTSC levitation magnet for MAGLEV operating in persistent current mode (PCM). The high temperature superconducting (HTSC) levitation magnet consists of two single-pancake type coils wound with Bi-2223 wire and a persistent current switch (PCS). The levitation magnet was designed by using 3-D finite element analysis. The suspension system for high-speed electrodynamic suspension (EDS) maglev should operated in persistent current mode. It is important to develop a technology to minimize the joint resistance of splice between two HTSC wires. The PCS was observed with respect to various magnitude of charging current. Based on these results, the levitation system using HTSC wire will be further studied.

  • Superconducting racetrack coils are used in areas of generators, motors, wiggler magnets and so on. Especially now a days many advanced nations including U.S., Japan are developing high temperature superconducting(HTS) wire which has better performance than low temperature superconducting(LTS) wire. Most of HTS wires such as Bi-2223 are manufactured with PIT(Power In Tube Method) process, so the shape of the wire looks like tape different from LTS wire of round shape as normal conductors. Generally HTS racetrack coils are composed of a few partial double-pancake colis and then the double-pancakes are jointed each other according to their applications.

  • In this paper, characteristic analysis of PC(Pancake Coil) probe with the size variation is presented for eddy current testing. Characteristics of probe are numerically calculated by using the finite element method. From the numerical analysis, the optimum frequency and groups for an experiment are selected. Probes are made and experiment is performed. From the experimental results, the probe shows maximum sensitivity when the size of defect is equal to the size of probe and when the inside diameter is similar to the width of probe and when the height is low. The result can be helpful to the standard of design of PC probe for eddy current testing.

  • 초전도 DC 마그네트에 영구전류 (Persistent Current)를 흘리기 위해서는 초전도 접합(Superconducting Joint)이 필요하다. 저온 초전도 선재는 초전도 접합이 가능하며 고온 초전도체 중 BSCCO 선재로도 초전도 접합을 만들 수 있다. 그러나 최근 개발되어 향후의 초전도기기에 적용될 2세대 초전도 선재인 ReBCO CC(Coated Conductor)로는 아직 초전도 접합을 만들 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 광폭 선재의 중심을 가르고 양 종단부가 그대로 붙여진 형태의 선재를 이용하여 영구전류를 홀릴 수 있는 고온 초전도 마그네트를 제작하였다. 영구전류 초기 충전을 위하여 1.2 m 길이의 ReBCO 도체 종단부에 스테인리스 히터를 부착하여 영구전류 스위치를 구성하였다. 발생된 자기장의 시간적 균일성을 측정하기 위하여 34 시간동안 홀센서를 사용하여 대기압 액체질소 77.3 K에서 자기장을 측정하였다.

Correlations between In-flight Particles, Splats and Coating Microstructures of Ni20Cr Thermally Sprayed by Flame and Arc Spray Processes

  • Correlations between in-flight particle, splat and coating microstructure of thermally sprayed Ni20Cr were investigated. Flame spray and arc spray systems were employed for spraying Ni20Cr powder and Ni20Cr wire, respectively. The results showed that the arc spray process produced a broader size distribution for both in-flight particles and splats compared to flame process. Flower-like splat morphology was obtained from the arc spray whereas a pancake-like splat was obtained by flame spray. Ni20Cr coating sprayed by arc process had a denser microstructure, lower porosity and better adhesion at the interface.

  • 와전류탐상(ECT) Transmit-Receive 프로브를 이용한 ECT 방법은 센서코일의 유도기전력의 변화를 관찰하여 피검사체의 결함이나 특성의 변화를 탐지해내는 방법이다. ECT T/R 프로브는 여러 개의 Pancake 코일로 구성되어있고, 각각의 코일은 Transmit 코일과 Receive 코일로 나뉜다. 본 논문은 실제 TH 프로브 제작에 앞서 동일한 특성을 갖는 와전류센서를 설계 및 제작하여 그 특성을 파악하였다. 와전류센서에 인가되는 시험주파수와 Lift-off의 변화에 대한 특성을 파악하고 와전류센서의 임피던스값을 산출하여 정규화 임피던스도를 그려 와전류센서의 특성을 살펴보았다.

  • The microstructure evolution during a hot forging of Waspaloy was investigated using the recrystallization model and FEM simulation. In order to obtain an uniform microstructure, hot forging was carried out by two step. The change of grain size during hot forging has a deep connection with dynamic recrystallization behavior. Avrami-type constitutive equation for the dynamic recrystallization was implemented into an user subroutine of 2D FE simulator. The evolution of grain structure in the two-step forging of Waspaloy was simulated using the 2D FEM user-subroutine. The detailed variation of microstructures due to dynamic recrystallization could effectively be predicted at various locations in a forged pancake.

  • The high temperature super-conductor transformer gains interests from the industries. This paper described construction and test results of a 10kVA HTS transformer. Three phase transformer with double pancake windings were constructed. BSCCO-2223 wire, silicon sheet steel core and FRP cryostats were used in that transformer After the test of basic properties of the 3 phase HTS transformer using no load test, short ciucuit test and full load test, continuous operation of 100 hours with pure resistive load has been carried out. Test proved over-load capability and reliability of the HTS transformer.

  • For the experiment the four types of spacer were distinguished by arrangement. The flashover characteristic on each types of spacer was investigated and the flashover phenomena were observed to understand breakdown mechanism in liquid nitrogen($LN_{2}$). The spacer should be placed interior coil as an insulator, a cooling channel and s supporter of structures. The simulated electrode used in the experiment was made from five turns of HTS tape. Experimental results revealed that multi-layer and barrier effects did work well in Air but did not in $LN_{2}$. These result suggested that the flashover in LN2 caused by the bubbles due to partial discharge at micro gap, g. The flashover characteristics decreased to 70% when g is 0.2 mm. The degradation was improved by even treatment on surface of coil electrode.
