경안천의 오염현황 (Status of Water Pollution of Gyeongan River, Korea)

  • At five stations in Gyeongan River, a tributary of Lake Paldang, physicochemical and biological environmental factors of water, particulate matters, and sediments were investigated biweekly from April 11 to December 22 in 2001. The studied area was characterized as a stream-lake system. The system is primarily referred to a place where the environmental factors had considerably changed depending on the amount of precipitation. As a result, the river turned out to be strongly eutrophicated. Also, some characteristics of the water and the particulate matters at midstream such as average concentrations of conductivity, nutrients, and chlorophyll $\alpha$ were higher than the characteristics of up and down-stream. However, the concentrations of organic matters and ratio of clay and silt of the midstream were determined to be higher than up and down-stream sediments. As the result of the factor analysis, 4 major different patterns for environmental factors are found from samples of water, particulate matters, and sediments.

팔당댐 상류의 수질예보시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Water Quality Forecasting System in Upstream of Paldangdam)

  • In this study, water quality prediction that is necessary to water quality forecasting system is performed using 2-D river analysis models RMA-2 and RAM4. RAM4 is suitable to water quality forecasting system cause it is possible to put in the pollutants as a mass type boundary condition. Instant injections of pollutants at Yongdamdaegyo Bridge in Namhangang River are simulated and the behavior of pollutant cloud is observed. The effects of water quality accident to Paldang 2 water intake plants in Paldangho Lake is analyzed with time variation. And extra flow simulation is performed for mitigation of pollution. Several cases of water quality forecasting system at home and abroad are investigated and the direction of water quality forecasting system is presented.

점오염원과 비점오염원 부하량 정량화를 위한 수질 유량 모니터링 개선 (Improvement of Water Quality and Streamflow Monitoring to Quantify Point and Nonpoint Source Pollutant Loads)

  • Long term monthly monitoring data showed that the water quality of streams flowing into Lake Paldang has been improved by various strategy for water. However, the effect of quality on Lake Paldang is still insufficient because of nonpoint source from watershed. In order to evaluate quantifying methods for pollution source and make a suggestion on improvements, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) was constructed by using data set from the water quality and streamflow monitoring network in the Kyoungan watershed for Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). Load duration curve (LDC) based on the result of the Kyoungan watershed SWMM indicated that the water quality criterion on $BOD_5$ was often exceeded in up-stream than down-stream. From flowrate-load correlation curve, SS load significantly increased as streamflow increases. 75.3% of streamflow and 62.1% of $BOD_5$ loads is discharged especially in the zone of high flows, but monitoring data set didn't provide proper information about the conditions and the patterns associated with storm events. Therefore, it is necessary to acquire representative data set for comparing hydrograph and pollutograph through monitoring experimental watershed and to establish methods for quantifying point and nonpoint source pollutant loads.

팔당호 상류수계에 위치한 환경기초시설의 인 기여도 분석 (Analysis of the Phosphorus Contribution Rate by the Environment Fundamental Facilities Located in Upstream Basin of Paldang Lake)

  • The phosphorus contribution rate on water quality of North and South-Han River, and Gyungan-cheon by effluents from environmental fundamental facilities located in upstream basin of Paldang Lake were analyzed. QUALKO2 model was selected for the analysis of contrubution rate, and was constructed considering the location of the main point sources and all facilities in study area. The pollutant loading rates and arrival rates for each unit-watershed in study area were calculated for model operation. For the calibration and verification of model, 2006 water quality dataset from Ministry of Environment and the effluent loadings of the environmental fundamental facilities were used. Reliability Index (RI) method was used to estimate the validity of the results of calibration and verification. The phosphorous contribution rate(%) for each environmental fundamental facility were analyzed by excepting the effluent loading of the facility. The contribution rate was analyzed for each facility, facility groups separated by each main river and each unit-watershed. The main results of analysis for each facility are as follows; (i) the phosphorous contribution of B1 facility is 50%, which is the highest phosphorous contribution rate among those of nine facilities in the North-Han River Basin; (ii) the highest phosphorous contribution is 55.6% from J facility among eight facilities in the Gyungan Stream Basin; (iii) 40% from E treatment facility is the highest among those of twenty eight facilities in the South-Han River Basin.

팔당호의 조류 발생 특성 (Characteristics of Algae Occurrence in Lake Paldang)

  • 본 연구는 팔당호내 조류의 발생특성 파악을 위해 수행되었다. 2006-2008년 매주 측정한 자료를 토대로 클로로필-a 농도는 봄철에 가장 높은 것으로 조사되어 여름철에 가장 높게 조사되었던 2000년 이전 자료와 다른 결과를 나타내었다. 월간 측정 자료에 의하면 2008년 총 조류개체수도 봄철에 높게 나타났다. 전체적으로 규조류가 우점하였으며 연평균값으로는 총 조류개체수의 87%를 차지하였으며, 특히 봄과 겨울에 우점정도가 높았다. 하절기의 경우 특정시기에 남조류가 우점을 차지하였다. 조류에서 기인하는 냄새 유발물질인 2-MIB와 geosmin은 2008년 7월에 특히 높게 나타났는데 조류와 냄새물질 발생간의 상관관계에 대한 보다 많은 연구가 필요하다.

WASP4 모형의 매개변수 추정 - 팔당호(八堂湖)를 중심으로 - (Calibration of the WASP4 Model Applied to Lake Paldang)

  • WASP4 모형을 팔당호(八堂湖)에 적용하여 모형의 매개변수 추정을 수행하였다. 추정방법으로는 수질항목 및 매개변수들을 몇 개의 군으로 나누어, 각 군이 매개변수들을 시행착오법에 의하여 순차적으로 추정하는 방법을 사용하였다. 모의 수질항목으로서 엽록소 a, 질소 순환용소들, 인 순환요소들, BOD 및 DO 등을 포함하였으며, 복잡도 4에서 수질을 모의하였다. 1989년 및 1990년 월별 댐유입량 및 방류량 자료를 사용한 계절별 물수지 분석에 의하여 모형의 경계단에서의 유량 입력자료를 산정하여, 수질 측정자료의 계절별 평균치와 함께 계절별 매개변수의 추정 및 검증에 각각 사용하였다. 수질항목 및 관련 매개변수들을 계열별로 분류하여 추정하는 것이 많은 수의 매개변수 추정에 있어서 효율적인 방법임을 알 수 있었다. 모형의 보정 및 검증 결과, 유기물의 비점오염원(非點汚染源) 및 저면용출량(底面溶出量)에 대한 정량적 평가가 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 특히 경안천(慶安川) 유입수역에서의 저면용출량(底面溶出量)이 상당한 것으로 나타났다.

팔당호 상류유역의 점·비점오염원 유달부하 특성 - 남한강·경안천 수계를 대상으로 (Delivered Pollutant Loads of Point and Nonpoint Source on the Upper Watershed of Lake Paldang - Case Study of the Watershed of Namhan River and Gyeongan Stream)

  • This study is conducted to characterize and evaluate delivered pollutant loads of point and nonpoint source on the upper watershed of lake paldang. The study area consists of 12 watersheds in Namhan-river and Kyungahcheon, which are approximately 80% of total area of Namhan-river and Kyungahcheon. Based on daily delivered loads from watersheds, 61% of $BOD_5$, 81% of T-N and 70% of T-P were from nonpoint sources, suggesting that delivered loads of nonpoint pollutants be crucial to water quality. On the other hand, 78% of $BOD_5$, 92% of T-N and 87% of T-P as delivered load were from nonpoint sources in an upper watershed of Namhan-river, while 48% of $BOD_5$, 70% of T-N and 57% of T-P as delivered load were from nonpoint sources in a lower watershed of Namhan-river, suggesting higher dependency of point sources than upper watershed of Namhan-river. In the characteristic of delivered loading pollutants from point and nonpoint pollution sources, delivered load of nonpoint pollutants differed significantly by seasonal flow, and as though discharged load of point pollutants were yearly uniform, delivered load of point pollutants was found to be flow-dependent because its delivery ratio was changed.

팔당호 현장수를 이용한 남조류 Anabaena circinalis의 발아 및 성장 잠재력 시험 (Akinete Germination and Algal Growth Potential Test of Cyanobacterium Anabaena circinalis on Different Waters in Lake Paldang)

  • 본 연구는 2014년 9월과 2015년 3월에 채수한 팔당호 3지점의 현장수 (PD-1, PD-2 및 PD-3)를 이용하여 북한강에서 우점하는 A. circinalis의 휴면포자 발아 및 성장 잠재력을 평가하였다. 질소와 인 농도는 팔당댐앞 (PD-1)과 광동교 (PD-3)에 비교하여 금남리 (PD-2)에서 좀 더 높게 나타났다. 팔당호 3지점의 총질소에 대한 영양상태지수 (TSI)는 65~85의 범위로 나타났으며, 부영양 또는 과영양 상태로 평가되었다. 또한 총인에 대한 영양상태지수(TSI) 값은 49~68의 범위로서, 중영양 또는 부영양 상태로 평가되었다. 휴면포자 발아 잠재력은 영양염 농도가 높은 금남리 지점 (PD-2)에서 좀 더 높게 나타났으며, 영양세포 성장 잠재력도 영양염 농도가 높은 현장수에서 증가하였다.

퇴적층의 온도별 배양에 따른 조류군집 형성과 이취미물질 발생 특성 (Formation of Phytoplankton Community and Occurrences of Odorous Compounds for Sediment Incubation by Water Temperature)

  • We analyzed the formation of phytoplankton community and the occurences of odorus compound from benthic cyanobacteria in North, South Han-River, Paldang-Lake and Kyeongan-Stream sediments. Sediments were incubated in different water temperature. Akinetes were found (0~500 cells/g) with the highest number on sediment in Yangsoo railroad bridge (YC). The result showed that Anabaena ranged between $0.02{\sim}0.53{\times}10^3cells/mL$ in Sambong (SB), YC, Mukhyen-Stream (MS), Paldang-Lake (P2) and Kyeongan-Stream (KK). The total 68 taxa of phytoplankton were observed during the incubation period. A standing crop of phytoplankton was in the range of $0.13{\sim}8.97{\times}10^3cells/mL$ and Microcystis appeared in SB, YC, P2 and KK sites with $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$ temperature. In South Han-River (P3), Oscillatoria tenuis was dominant at $25^{\circ}C$ temperature. The concentration of geosmin was the highest in SB-$15^{\circ}C$ (25.5 ng/L), and the concentration of 2-MIB was the highest in P3-$25^{\circ}C$ (286.8 ng/L). Odorous compounds were detected in all the temperature conditions from each site. Our results indicate that the dominant benthic cyanobacteria (O. tenuis, O. limosa, Phormidium tenue and Pseudanabaena limnetica) have high correlation with the occurrence odorous compounds and 2-MIB.

베이지안 추정을 이용한 팔당호 유역의 계절별 클로로필a 예측 및 오염특성 연구 (A Study on Characteristics and Predictions of Seasonal Chlorophyll-a using Bayseian Regression in Paldang Watershed)

  • In recent years, eutrophication in the Paldang Lake has become one of the major environmental problems in Korea as it may threaten drinking water safety and human health. Thus it is important to understand the phenomena and predict the time and magnitude of algal blooms for applying adequate algal reduction measures. This study performed seasonal water quality assessment and chlorophyll-a prediction using Bayseian simple/multiple linear regression analysis. Bayseian regression analysis could be a useful tool to overcome limitations of conventional regression analysis. Also it can consider uncertainty in prediction by using posterior distribution. Generally, chlorophyll-a of a P2(Paldang Dam 2) site showed high concentration in spring and it was similar to that of P4(Paldang Dam 4) site. For the development of Bayseian model, we performed seasonal correlation. As a result, chlorophyll-a of a P2 site had a high correlation with P5(Paldang Dam 5) site in spring (r = 0.786, p<0.05) and with P4 in winter (r = 0.843, p<0.05). Based on the DIC (Deviance Information Criterion) value, critical explanatory variables of the best fitting Bayesian linear regression model were selected as a $PO_4-P$ (P2), Chlorophyll-a (P5) in spring, $NH_3-N$ (P2), Chlorophyll-a (P4), $NH_3-N$ (P4) in summer, DTP (P2), outflow (P2), TP (P3), TP (P4) fall, COD (P2), Chl-a (P4) and COD (P4) in winter. The results of chlorophyll-a prediction showed relatively high $R^2$ and low RMSE values in summer and winter.
