  • We suggest a procedure entangling two spin-1/2 particles at distant positions such that they cannot be directly entangled via local interaction. An already entangled pair is used to transfer the entanglement to another pair of particles by way of interaction. This scheme of nonlocal generation of entanglement can be used in the construction of a two-qubit universal gate.

  • We investigate $H\small{I}$ data for a pair of blue compact dwarf galaxies (BCDs), ESO 435-IG20 and ESO 435-IG16, obtained with the Australia Telescope Compact Array. The outer $H\small{I}$ disk is highly disturbed and asymmetric in both galaxies showing a gas tail and/or a broad/extended gas disk on only one side. Based on their low-density surroundings and small projected distance (<80 kpc) at a similar redshift, we conclude that tidal interaction between these two BCDs is responsible for the morphological and kinematical peculiarities in $H\small{I}$. We also investigate their star formation rates using $H{\alpha}$ and UV imaging data to probe their interaction history.

  • An enhancement of through-bond interaction by bond angle distortion in pyrazine was examined using various MO methods. Results of MINDO/3 geometry optimization with an angle (${\alpha}$) at $C_2$ atom fixed to 120∼90$^{\circ}$ lead to distorted structures in which the distorted bond is brought closer toward lone pair orbital n of N atom. It was also found that the bond angle distortion increased the P character at the atom $C_2$, resulting in an increased vicinal overlap between n and the $C_2-C_3$ bond. The FMO patterns of ${\sigma}$ framework showed three-fold degeneracy, one of which was of different symmetry which mixes in the symmetry adapted pair, $n_+\;and\;n_-;\;both\;n_+\;and\;n_-$ orbitals thus can interact with both FMOs of the ${\sigma}$ framework. The LCBO-MO analysis with partial elimination of bonds, antibonds or both, however, revealed that the main interaction of $n_+$ was with the HO-${\sigma}$ and that of $n_-$ was with the LU-${\sigma}^{\ast}$ orbital of the ${\sigma}$ framework.

  • Simple rules for predicting nonbonded interactions have been proposed. It was found that an end-to-end nonbonded interaction is either attractive or repulsive depending on the sign of the product of AO coefficients of two end atoms in the HOMO of a closed shell conjugated system with a crowded structure. The nonbonded attraction becomes the greatest in a 4N + 2 electron conjugated system, while it is repulsive in a 4N electron system. For 4N + 1 and 4N - 1 electron systems, it is attractive but the effect is less than that in 4N + 2 system. As a result of the attractive interaction, the overlap population of an atom pair increases (decreases) if the HOMO is antibonding (bonding) for the atom pair. The rules were illustrated with some examples.

  • The intermediate of N'-nitrosonornicotine may bind to the guanine moiety of a G-C base pair. The hydrogen bond of the base pair may be broken and a new hydrogen bond can form between the intermediate and the guanine. It results in the "short" type of DNA repair.NA repair.

  • Analytical model of beat response is derived on a slightly asymmetric ring and is veryfied by experiment. The asymmetric ring is a simplified model used to explain the beat property of a Korean bell. The asymmetric ring has mode pair having slight frequency difference in each radial mode. Each mode pair produces beat phenomenon by the interaction of the two close frequency components. Based on the analytical model, beat maps are first proposed and characteristics of beat on the circumference are detaily explained.

  • The chlorine addition and Diels-Alder cycloaddition of cyclopentadiene to 1, 4-benzoquinone-4-(O-methyloxime) have been studied MO theoretically. It has been shown that the reactions occur predominantly to the quinone ring double bond which is oriented anti to the nitrogen lone pair due to an n-${\sigma}^*$ interaction between the nitrogen lone pair, n, and the app. vicinal bond, causing the ${\pi}$ bond to be weakened and destabilized due to the less conjugation from reduced delocalization.

  • The Oguchi theory of antiferromagnetism has been modified for antiferromagnetically interacting spin-pair systems with anisotropic exchange interaction. The parallel and perpendicular susceptibilities $({\chi}_{\parallel}\;and\;{\chi}_{\perp})$ have been expressed as functions of exchange interactions $(J_z\;and\;{\gamma}=J_x/J_z)$, anisotropic molecular field parameters $({\kappa}\;and\;{\kappa}_x)$, $g_z\;and\;g_x$. In contrast to the previous theories, the parallel susceptibilities are not the same as the perpendicular susceptibilities above Neel temperature $T_N$.

  • Today, the research to examine a fact that interaction between the air and the fluid free surface affects the steady state flow and air. We proved the interaction between vortex pairs and free surface on each condition that is created by the end of delta wings. another purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of surface active material which can change the surface tension and we must consider when we refer to turbulent flow on surface tension. therefore, this research examined the growth process of vortex pairs on condition of clean, contaminated free surface and wall after we made vortex pairs through counter rotating flaps. The results of this study suggest that vortex pairs in clean free surface rise safely but the vortex pairs in contaminated free surface and rigid, no slip is made secondary vortex or rebounding. However the secondary vortex in rigid, no slip is stronger than before, and we can find the vortex shape which roll up more completely. However, these will disappear by the effect of wall.

  • Autodisplay of a multimeric protein complex on a cell surface is limited by intrinsic factors such as the types and orientations of anchor modules. Moreover, improper folding of proteins to be displayed often hinders functional cell surface display. While overcoming these drawbacks, we ultimately extended the applicability of the autodisplay platform to the display of a protein complex. We designed and constructed a cell surface attachment (CSA) system that uses a non-covalent protein-protein interaction. We employed the high-affinity interaction mediated by an orthogonal cohesin-dockerin (Coh-Doc) pair from Archaeoglobus fulgidus to build the CSA system. Then, we validated the orthogonal Coh-Doc binding by attaching a monomeric red fluorescent protein to the cell surface. In addition, we evaluated the functional anchoring of proteins fused with the Doc module to the autodisplayed Coh module on the surface of Escherichia coli. The designed CSA system was applied to create a functional attachment of dimeric α-neoagarobiose hydrolase to the surface of E. coli cells.
