도장부스 수조 내 슬러지 처리 시스템의 개발 (Development of the Sludge Treatment System in Water Bath of Painting Booth)

  • A sludge treatment system for introducing the waste water mixture with paint sludge from the water bath of paint booth and for recycling cleaned water to paint booth after sludge separation is developed. Floated sludge is introduced from the water surface in the bath by using floating-skimmer, and is conveyed by pump to the centrifugal separator where sludge and cleaned water are separated. From the operation results of the present sludge treatment systems applied in actual paint booths, paint sludge can be separated automatically and effectively from water bath with its water content of $60-70\%$, and sludge-free clean water is returned to paint booth.

  • 방염도료로 일액형 염화고무(Chlorinated Rubber) 백색도료가 많이 사용되고 있는데 이는 탄화시 검은 연기가 많이 발생되고 목재에 대한 표면강도와 접착력 등의 미흡한 단점이 있어 이러한 점 등을 고려한 Polyurethane Resin계(Alkyd Resin) 이액형 방염우레탄라카 백색도료를 개발하였다. 본 실험에서 개발한 목재용 Polyurethane Resin계 방염도료 조성의 물성은 기존의 방염백색도료보다 목재와의 친화력이 향상되고 다량의 연기발생은 억제하는 결과를 얻었다.

Burn Damage에 따른 도막의 방청성 평가 (Evaluation of the Corrosion Protection Coating in Accordance with Burn Damage)

  • This study was conducted in order to examine the effect of burn damage and the resultant anti-corrosion performance. The breakdown and defect of the paint film caused by burn damage are considered to affect not only the macroscopic appearance but also the adhesive force and the anti-corrosion performance of the paint film. The material of the paint film was epoxy paint that is used most widely for heavy-duty coating, and in order to induce burn damage, heat treatment with a torch was applied to the other side of the paint film. Surface and chemical structure changes according to aging were analyzed using FE-SEM and infrared absorption spectroscopy, and variation in the anti-corrosion performance was analyzed through the AC impedance test.

  • 압전 페인트 센서는 압전 세라믹의 주성분인 압전 파우더와 에폭시의 결합으로 이루어진 페인트형 센서이다. 이 센서는 일반 페인트와 같이 구조물에 도포되기 때문에 다른 어느 센서보다 구조물에 부착이 용이하다. 본 연구에서는 압전 페인트센서가 도포된 구조물의 충격 감지 정도를 판단하고자 하였다. 특히, 철도차량을 대상으로 연구를 진행하고자 하였다. 철도차량 운용 중에 발생하는 자갈 비산으로 인해 발생하는 충격손상이 많이 보고되고 있고, 이러한 충격손상을 방지하고자 차량 하부구조물 전체 표면에 발생하는 충격신호를 실시간으로 감지할 필요가 있다. 철도차량이 운행되는 환경을 고려하여 압전 페인트시편을 $-20{\sim}60^{\circ}C$의 열사이클 환경에 노출시켜 센서의 감도 변화를 측정하였다. 알루미늄 시편에 압전 페인트센서를 도포하여 감도 측정을 수행한 결과, 열사이클 환경 전후에 감도 차이가 크지 않음을 확인하였고 이를 통해 환경 노출 후에도 압전 페인트센서로 충격 감지가 가능함을 확인하였다.

그래핀 기반 지능형 나노복합소재를 이용한 고감도 임팩트 페인트 센서 개발 연구 (Development of Novel Impact Paint Sensor by Using Graphene based Smart Nano Composite)

  • This paper presents a novel impact sensor which can be fabricated with smart paint made of grapheme. This smart nano paint can be easily installed on structures using a spray-on technique and that can make the sensor low cost and practical. The graphene effectively improves the piezoresistivity of the smart paint and that is available to achieve sensitive impact sensor with high gauge factor. The nano smart-paint can detect sufficient impact to cover the damaged energy range of the composite around 1~3J. The voltage outputs from the sprayed paints show fairly linear responses after signal processing. The impact makes deformation of the structure and it brings change of piezoresistivity of the paint and those converts into voltage output consequently by means of a simple signal processing system. The nano smart paint is lightweight and easily applied to the structural surface, and there is no stress concentration. The nano smart paint is expected to be a cost effective and sensitive multi-functional sensor for composites and other damage monitoring applications in the field of structural health monitoring.

클리어 도막이 자동차 보수도장 외관특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Clear Coat Film on Appearance Characteristics in Car Refinishing)

  • In car refinishing, the paint film characteristics of clear coat play an important role in appearance quality. Thus, Primarily in this research, the variance of brightness with the change of the thickness of paint film is investigated. Besides, as changing the thickness of paint film, the correlation between surface leveling(which is one of appearance characteristics) is investigated in this research. Throughout this investigation, we come to know that the increase of clear coat paint film thickness leads the improvement of appearance characteristics within specific range of thickness. Furthermore, the fact that too thick paint film does not increase the brightness or appearance characteristic any more is known. The optimum thickness of clear coat film for the best and appearance characteristics is derived from this research and more efficient way of determining optimum thickness of paint film is found. Particularly, haze value and waviness have more influence on vividness than brightness. Throughout all experiments, the appearance characteristics are much better at painted horizontally than vertically. These results are derived due to the facts that to obtain the same paint film thickness at painted vertically with painted horizontally is difficult and the way of vertical painting is different from horizontal painting. Therefore, the improvement of vertical painting and horizontal painting are required.

Paint Spray Mass Spectrometry for the Detection of Additives from Polymers on Conducting Surfaces

  • Paint Spray is developed as a direct sampling ionisation method for mass spectrometric analysis of additives in polymer-based surface coatings. The technique simply involves applying an external high voltage (5 kV) to the wetted sample placed in front of the mass spectrometer inlet and represents a much simpler ionisation technique compared to those currently available. The capabilities of Paint Spray are demonstrated herein with the detection of four commercially available hindered amine light stabilisers; TINUVIN${(R)}$770, TINUVIN${(R)}$292, TINUVIN${(R)}$123 and TINUVIN${(R)}$152 directly from thermoset polyester-based coil coatings. Paint Spray requires no sample preparation or pre-treatment and combined with its simplicity requiring no specialised equipment makes it ideal for use by non-specialists. The application of Paint Spray for industrial use has significant potential as sample collection from a coil coating production line and Paint Spray ionisation could enable fast quality control screening at high sensitivity.

  • The painting process of large ships is an intense manual operation that typically comprises 9-12% of the total shipbuilding cost. Accordingly, shipbuilders need to estimate the required amount of anti-corrosive coatings and painting resources for inventory and cost control. This study aims to develop a software system which enables the shipbuilders to estimate paint area using existing 3D CAD ship structural models. The geometric information of the ships structure are extracted from the existing shipbuilding CAD/CAM system and used to create painting zones. After specifying the painting zones, users can generate the paint faces by clipping structural parts inside each zone. Finally, the paint resources may be obtained from the product of the paint areas and required paint thickness. Implementing the developed software system to real shipbuilders' operations has contributed to improved productivity, faster resource estimation, better accuracy, and fewer coating defects over their conventional manual calculation methods for painting resource estimation.

고속도로에서 차선도색시 자연건조 및 열풍기 사용시의 차선 양생시간 비교 (Comparison of Lane Curing Time using Natural Drying and Line Drying Device when Painting Pavements on Highways)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to compare the lane curing time of natural drying and a lane drying device when painting lines on a highway. METHODS : The painting process was carried out in July 2015 and September 2015, respectively, for the Gimcheon IC - Gimcheon JC. After the painting, measurements were obtained three times at six measurement points located at 20 m intervals on the shoulder line and the dividing line. The curing time was measured for natural drying and drying using a lane drying device, and compared for different pavement types (asphalt, concrete) and paint types (waterborne paint, methyl methacrylate paint). RESULTS : The results of the lane curing time comparison on the highway are as follows. The combination of asphalt and methyl methacrylate paint cured more rapidly during both the natural drying and drying using the lane drying device. Finally, it was cured at least 32.2% and 40.7% faster when using a drying device than in natural drying. CONCLUSIONS : The comparison of lane curing time of the highway showed that the combination of asphalt and methyl methacrylate paint cured more rapidly when using both natural drying and a lane drying device.
