재택근무의 고찰과 가정경영에 미치는 영향에 관한연구 (A Sudy on home-based work and its effects on family life managment)

  • The purpose of this study is to review current home-based work study and identify factors associated with the choice of home-based work. Home-based work as an alternative form of employment is being sought today by both workers and business. The information age with its empasis on the recoding and transfer of information along with the technology of telectommuting has increased potential for and attention to home-based work. Home-based work seems to have several advantages particulary for women who carry the double burden of household work and paid work. The reduction in traffic congestion and demand of fossil fuels that accompanies the elimination of commuting has also been seen as a important social benifit. Home-base work has potential that can improve women's labor force participation. Further study is needed to evaluate home-based work and critical advice to current and prospect workers.

기혼남녀근로자의 일-생활 만족유형화 연구: 직장내 휴가관련 가족친화제도를 중심으로 (Types of Work-Life Satisfaction among Married Wage Workers: Focusing on Family-Friendly Leave Policies in the Workplace)

  • The purpose of this research was, first, to classify work-life satisfaction among married wage workers aged 20-59 years into several distinct types based on two dimensions of work and life, using data from the 20th(2017) wave of the Korean Labor & Income Panel Study. Second, the study aimed to assess the differences in socio-demographic characteristics (sex, age, educational level, average monthly income), and workplace-related variables (weekly working hours, full-time employment, job stability, business type, family-friendly leave policies) by work-life satisfaction type. Accordingly, four types of work-life satisfaction were identified: work-life satisfaction, work-life dissatisfaction, work satisfaction, and life satisfaction. There was a significant difference in the type of work-life satisfaction among married waged workers based on sex, age, educational level, and average monthly income. Additionally, there was a significant difference in the type of work-life satisfaction for all workplace-related variables, namely, weekly working hours, full-time employment, job stability, business type, and family-friendly leave policies. In particular, proportionally higher values of work-life satisfaction were evident among the workers in companies with family-friendly leave policies such as paid leave, menstrual leave, maternity leave, childcare leave, and family events leave, whereas there was a high rate of work-life dissatisfaction among the workers in companies without family-friendly leave policies.

국내 고시인성 안전의복의 착용 현황 분석 및 시인성 평가를 통한 착용 의무화 제안 (A Proposal for Workers to Mandatorily Wear High-visibility Safety Clothing in Korea through the Analysis of the Current Status and Evaluation of Its Visibility)

  • In roadside workplaces, more attention should be paid to the safety of workers. The roadside workers underestimate the effect of the brightness of their clothes and judge that drivers will recognize them easily, and the drivers misjudge that the roadside workers are far away and that the vehicle can be stopped in sufficient time. Therefore, customized safety education reflecting this and wearing work clothes with certified visibility functions are required. In Korea, it is not compulsory for roadside workers and vehicle guide attendants to wear work clothes with a visibility function. In this study, the distance ahead perceived by drivers was measured using manikins wearing certified and non-certified reflective safety vests. The perception distance of the non-certified reflective safety vest was 1.4 times longer than that of the certified reflective safety vest, thus confirming the importance of wearing a certified reflective safety vest. To prevent roadside workers from suffering traffic accidents, we propose the enactment of a law that makes it mandatory for them to wear high-visibility safety clothing. Specifically, Article 32 of the Enforcement Regulation of the Road Traffic Act should include high-visibility safety clothing in life protection equipment, and additionally, to prevent secondary accidents, we propose the enactment of a law requiring the installation and wearing of certified reflective safety vests in vehicles.

산업간 기술격차가 근로소득에 미치는 영향: 자영업과 임금근로의 비교 (The Earnings Effect of Inter-Industry Technology Differences : A Comparison of the Self-Employed and Wage Earners)

  • 본 연구는 기술진보의 소득증대 효과가 근로자의 직무(숙련) 특성에 따라 다를 것이라는 전제 하에, 산업간 기술격차가 근로소득에 미치는 영향을 자영업과 임금근로로 나누어 비교 분석하였다. 실증분석에는 한국노동패널조사(KLIPS) 자료를 사용하였고, 2단계 추정법과 분위회귀분석을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 임금근로(직업특수적 숙련)에 대해서는 기술진보의 소득증대 효과가 고학력자에 집중되는 반면, 자영업주(경영가적 숙련)에 대해서는 기술진보의 소득중대 효과가 모든 학력계층에서 나타났다. 이러한 부문별 차이는 분위회귀분석에서도 동일하게 나타난다.

Relationship Between Job Training and Subjective Well-being In Accordance With Work Creativity, Task Variety, and Occupation

  • Background: Job training influences the overall working environment and worker's well-being. The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between job training and subjective well-being in accordance with occupations and understand the influence of task characteristics-work creativity and task variety (WCTV)-on the effect of training. Methods: A cross-sectional study based on the Fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey was conducted on 50,205 workers in the Republic of Korea. The World Health Oorganization-5 well-being index was used to measure their subjective well-being. The relationship between job training and subjective well-being was divided in accordance with the level of WCTV. Results: Training paid for by employer showed a negative effect on subjective well-being when received for more than 3 days (OR 0.88, p<0.01) in the last 12 months. Training paid for by oneself showed a positive linkage with well-being when the level of training was 1-3 days (Odds ratio = 1.55, p<0.001). This result showed different aspects in accordance with the level of WCTV. For the high WCTV group, the aforementioned results were reaffirmed, but for the group with low WCTV, job training did not show a statistically significant result on well-being. On-the-job training was not related to subjective well-being regardless of the level of WCTV. Conclusion: Job training had different effects on subjective well-being depending on the type and frequency of training, as well as the WCTV. It is imperative to comprehensively apply different types of job training in accordance with the characteristics of occupations to uplift workers' well-being.

The Impact of Adverse Employment and Working Conditions on the Risk of Workplace Injury in Canada

  • Background: Employment standards (ES) include having a regular payday, regular breaks, the right to paid sick or vacation time, and paid wages. Inadequate ES contribute to the labour market vulnerability of workers; however, they are not typically considered to be risk factors for workplace injury. In a sample of Canadian workers, we examine the risk of injury associated with inadequate ES, independent of, and combined with inadequate workplace protections from workplace hazards. Methods: Data from 2,803 adults working 15 hours or more/week in workplaces with at least five employees were analysed. We explored associations between exposure to workplace hazards with inadequate protections [termed occupational health and safety (OHS) vulnerability] and inadequate ES on workplace injury (physical or mental injury; injury requiring time off). Additive interaction models were used to examine the independent and combined effects of these exposures. Results: Occupational health and safety vulnerability and inadequate ES were independently associated with increased injury outcomes. Adjusted models showed an additive relationship for all injury outcomes between OHS vulnerability and inadequate ES. Statistically significant superadditive relationships were observed for physical injury risk with policy and procedure vulnerability plus inadequate ES [synergy index (S) 1.50, 95% CI: 1.13-2.00] and for overall OHS vulnerability plus inadequate ES (S 1.53, 95% CI: 1.16-2.02), suggesting a combined effect greater than independent effects. Conclusion: Occupational health and safety vulnerability and inadequate ES are independently associated with workplace injury. For certain injury outcomes, the combined effect of OHS vulnerability and inadequate ES is greater than the independent effects of each individual exposure.

기술사용이 근로환경과 근로자 건강에 미치는 영향력에 대한 연구 (Study on the Impact of use of Technology on Work Environment and the Health of Workers)

  • This study looks at the impact of psychological and physical factors of the working conditions on the health of workers depending on whether technology is used by such workers. The data used for the study is the third work environment survey. Out of 50,032 respondents, a total of 29,711 paid workers were used as analysis subjects. Although it was anticipated that the use of technology was a factor that hindered job autonomy and teamwork autonomy. However, the analysis results showed low levels of job autonomy and teamwork autonomy in the group that did not use technology. The study assumes a regression analysis model about work environment and work organizational practices of workspaces that have an impact on musculoskeletal complaints, stress symptoms and level of work satisfaction by controlling the social demographic variable that represents the level of individual sensitivity. As a result of the study, ergonomic risk had a significant effect on both groups that did or did not use technology with respect to stress symptoms, musculoskeletal complaints and level of work satisfaction. In particular, as workspace practices and work environment had an effect on the development of musculoskeletal complaints in the group that used machines, there is a need to improve such situation. The autonomous team work or level of job autonomy within the group that used technology may act as a risk factor to the health and welfare of workers. However, because it may also act as a buffer factor, there is a need for a change to reduce stress symptoms and increase the level of work satisfaction by improving autonomous team work and the level of job autonomy.

정규근로와 비정규근로의 임금격차 (Wage Differentials by Types of Employment Arrangements)

  • 최근 3년에 걸친 경제위기 과정에서 노동시장에 나타난 가장 뚜렷한 현상은 노동시장의 비정규화이다. 저임금, 저조한 부가급부 혜택, 미비한 고용안정성 등 부정적인 특성을 갖는 비정규근로의 확산에 따라 이에 대한 보호논의가 전개되고 있으나 정의와 실태자료가 미비한 상태에서 엄밀한 연구는 많지 않다. 본고는 "한국노동패널" 자료에 포함된 임금근로자를 표본으로 전환회귀모형을 이용하여 고용형태의 선택식과 시간당 임금 결정식을 추정하고, 임금격차를 생산성 특성의 차이에 의한 임금격차와 임금차별의 두 요인으로 분해한다. 여성, 청년층, 고연령층, 저학력, 건강상 문제의 근로취약요인과 최근 경채위기 중 입직한 경우가 비정규근로률 선택할 확률을 높이는 것으로 나타난다. 비정규근로와 정규근로의 시간당 임금의 격차는 35%에 이르며 다른 임금절정요인을 통제하였을 때 고용형태별 임금격차는 19%에 이른다. Oaxaca에 따라 임금격차를 분해한 결과는 임금격차의 4분의 1 내지 3분의 1이 동일한 생산성 특성에 대하여 고용형태에 따라 체계적으로 상이한 가격을 지불하는 가격효과에 의한 것으로 나타난다.

장애인 취업자에게 제공된 직무 관련 배려경험이 장애수용과 직무만족, 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Job-related Accommodation Experience on Acceptance of Disability, Job Satisfaction and Life Satisfaction for Rehabilitation of Workers with Disabilities)

  • 본 연구는 장애인 취업자에게 제공된 직무 관련 배려경험이 장애수용과 직무만족, 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 한국장애인고용공단 고용개발원에서 실시한 장애인 고용패널조사를 활용하여 장애인 중 임금을 받고 근로 중인 취업 장애인을 대상으로 하여 직장에서의 배려 경험과 장애수용과 직무만족, 삶의 만족의 수준을 조사하였다. 수집된 자료를 기반으로 빈도분석으로 통해 현재 장애인이 경험하는 적절한 배려의 현황을 알아보고, 분산분석을 통해 배려 경험에 따른 장애수용과 직무만족, 삶의 만족의 차이를 분석하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 여전히 직업 현장에서 장애인 취업자를 위한 적절한 배려나 지원이 이루어지지 못하고 있다는 것이 밝혀졌으며, 직무조정 및 근무시간 조정 관련 배려경험이 장애수용과 직무만족, 삶의 만족에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있음이 밝혀졌다.

비정규직 근로자의 사회적 배제가 정신건강에 미치는 영향 - 건설직 일용근로자의 우울을 중심으로 - (The Effect of Social Exclusion of Marginal Workers on Mental Health)

  • 현대에 들어 노동시장이 더 유연화 되고 있기 때문에 고용의 형태가 다양해지고 있고, 이에 따라 비정규직 일자리가 두드러지게 증가하고 있다. 비정규직 근로자는 고용 불안정과 열악한 근무 여건 때문에, 사회적 배제를 겪을 가능성이 크다. 그리고 비정규직 근로자가 사회적 배제를 겪을 경우에는 정신건강 문제를 경험할 가능성이 커진다. 이중에서 우울은 음주, 자살, 장애 등을 유발하는 증상이므로 관심을 가져야 할 정신건강 문제이다. 그러나 우리나라에서 비정규직 근로자의 사회적 배제와 정신건강 문제를 다룬 연구는 없다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 대표적인 비정규직 근로자인 건설직 일용근로자를 대상으로 사회적 배제와 우울 사이의 관계를 실증적으로 살펴보았다. 조사 결과, 일용근로자의 사회적 배제는 우울에 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다.
