In chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) there are many factors affecting the results. Temperature is one of the factors and it affects the removal rate. That is, the higher it arise, the more the material is removed. But the detailed temperature behavior is not discovered. In this study, we discover the distribution of temperature across the pad where the wafer has just been polished. And then we reveal the cause of the result in connection with the mechanical structure. In addition, we also discover the relationship of the friction force and normal force. With the result of two forces, we get the friction coefficient and obtain the contact model of the wafer and pad.
Track rubber parts has heat built-up as long as dynamic loading is applied from running tracked vehicles. Durability is required for rubber part to sustain the heat accumulation and heat exchange between rubber-metal assembly and environmental air and ground. For this research, the track assembly was divided into four parts i.e., bottom track shoe, upper track pad, pin busing and metal structure. Three rubber parts and metal structure were modelled and analyzed with MARC package program to obtain time-temperature data which was induced form mechanical work of tracked vehicles. heat accumulation data was obtained from special experiments under the room temperature of 25$^{\circ}C\;and\;35^{\circ}C$ to simulate the actual environmental conditions. From this research, it is cleared that the environmental temperature does not affect to the heat accumulation speed in rubber parts. Also, the heat built-up mechanism was clarified from the thermo-mechanical work based on numerical analysis and experiments.
This paper studies the effect of pad at initial stage and wear during braking on the dynamic contact pressure distribution. Wear is influenced by variable factor (contact pressure, sliding speed, radius, temperature) during dynamic braking and variation in contact pressure distribution. Many researchers have conducted complex eigenvalue analysis considering wear characteristic with Lim and Ashby wear map. The conventional analysis method is assumed the pad has smooth and flat surfaces. The purpose of this paper is to validate that wear rate induced by braking is considered for the precise squeal prediction. After obtaining pad wear from experiment, it is incorporated with FE model of brake system. Finally, the comparisons in fugitive nature of squeal will be carried out between the complex eigenvalue analysis and noise dynamometer experiment.
A sorption cool pad brings cooling effect without any pre-cooling, nor any external energy supply. It uses evaporative cooling effect stimulated by the desiccative sorption. In this paper, heat and mass transfer in the sorption cool pad are investigated theoretically. The evaporative cooling process caused by the desiccant is modeled and analyzed considering the sorption characteristics of the desiccant. Two nondimensional parameters are found to dominate the cooling process: one is related to the psychrometric characteristics and the other is to the sorption capacity of the desiccant. The former decides the time to reach the lowest temperature and the later controls the time duration of the cooling effect being sustained.
A novel bumping process using solder bump maker is developed for the maskless low-volume solder on pad (SoP) technology of fine-pitch flip chip bonding. The process includes two main steps: one is the aggregation of powdered solder on the metal pads on a substrate via an increase in temperature, and the other is the reflow of the deposited powder to form a low-volume SoP. Since the surface tension that exists when the solder is below its melting point is the major driving force of the solder deposit, only a small quantity of powdered solder adjacent to the pads can join the aggregation process to obtain a uniform, low-volume SoP array on the substrate, regardless of the pad configurations. Through this process, an SoP array on an organic substrate with a pitch of $130{\mu}m$ is successfully formed.
Rapid progress in IC fabrication technology has strong demand in polishing of silicon wafer to meet the tight specification of nanotopography and surface roughness. One of the important issues in Si CMP is the stabilization of polishing pad. If a polishing pad is not stabilized before main Si wafer polishing process, good polishing result can not be expected. Therefore, new pad must be subjected into break-in process using dummy wafers for a certain period of time to enhance its performance. After the break-in process, the main Si wafer polishing process must be performed. In this study, the characteristics of break-in process were investigated in Si wafer polishing. Viscoelastic behavior, temperature variation of pad and friction were measured to evaluate the break-in phenomenon. Also, it is found that the characteristic of the break-in seems to be related to viscoelastic behavior of pad.
This paper focuses on the thermal deformation induced preload change in the tilting pad journal bearing, using a three-dimensional (3D) thermo-hydro-dynamic (THD) approach. Preload is considered as a critical factor in designing the tilting pad journal bearing. The initial preload measured under nil external load and nil thermal gradient is influenced by two factors, namely, the thermal deformation and elastic deformation. Thermal deformation is due to a temperature distribution in the bearing pads, whereas the elastic deformation is due to fluid forces acting on the pads. This study focuses on the changes induced in preload and film clearance due to thermal deformation. The generalized Reynolds equation is used to evaluate the force of the fluid and the 3D energy equation is used to calculate the temperature of the lubricant. The abovementioned equations are combined by establishing a relationship between viscosity and temperature. The heat transfer within the bearing pads, the lubricant, and the spinning journal is calculated using the heat flux boundary condition. The 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) is used in modeling the (1) heat conduction in the spinning journal and bearing pads, (2) thermal gradient induced thermal distortion of the spinning journal and pads, and (3) viscous shearing, and heat conduction and convection in a thin film. This evaluation method has an increased fidelity, and it can prove to be a cost-effective tool that can be used by designers to predict the dynamic behavior of a bearing.
Regardless of a patient's diagnosis, the care of his skin has been a primary concern of nurses throughout the years. Nurses has washed, dried, and rubbed the skin and have changed his position so as to keep the patient's skin in good condition and to protect him from pressure sores. However, we still find many-patients suffering from the pressure sores which may take many mothers or years of treatment and cost a lot to be repaired. In view of expensive cost for treatment of the sores and low ratios of nursing staff per patient for intensive nursing care, prophylaxis of the bed sores with sufficient aids is extremely important both for patients and for nurses. Therefore, the unique purpose of this study was to determine whether sponge is good enough to treat and prevent the pressure sore as compared with gel pad and sheepskin. Sixty patients in the age range of 15 through 45 who were in unconscious status or have difficulty of mobility were chosen between January and March of 1974 at Seoul National University Hospital. They were randomly assigned to each treatment and observed on every 4th day with regard to level of consciousness, status of mobility, moisture or dryness of the bed, general skin condition, intake of nutrition, vital signs and intervals of position change in comparison with the changes of skin over the bony prominences. The study results were reviewed in a statistical method analysis of valiance-to obtain the following findings: 1. There was no significantly different changes of skin over the sanctum or the trochanter in each group using get pad, sheepskin or sponge. It means that we may substitute sponge for expensive gel pad or sheepskin. 2. There was no significant difference among mean changes of patient's skin in relation to sheepskin, gel pad and sponge. 3. There was no significant changes of patient's akin in relation to level of consciousness, status of mobility, intake of nutrition, general skin condition, temperature, blood pressure or interval of position change. 4. There were no meaningful interactions between each treatment and level of consciousness, moisture or dryness of the bed, intake of nutrition, general skin condition, temperature or blood pressure. 5. Sheepskin and gel pad had significantly better influence on patients with limited mobility than on patients with immobility, and sponge on patients with immobility on than patients with limited mobility, 6. Sheepskin and sponge had meaningfully totter influence on patients changing position at below 2-hour interval, gel pad at 2-4-hour interval, sheepskin at 4-6-hour interval, and three of them at above 6-hour interval.
