Due to fast growth in urbanisation, a highly developed infrastructure is essential for economic growth and prosperity. One of the major problems is to preserve, maintain, and retrofit these structures. To meet the requirements of construction industry, the basic information on all the mechanical properties of various concretes is essential. This paper presents the details of development of various concretes, namely, normal strength concrete (around 50 MPa), high strength concrete (around 85 MPa) and ultra high strength concrete (UHSC) (around 120 MPa) including their mechanical properties. The various mechanical properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, fracture energy and tensile stress vs crack width have been obtained from the respective test results. It is observed from the studies that a higher value of compressive strength, split tensile strength and fracture energy is achieved in the case of UHSC, which can be attributed to the contribution at different scales viz., at the meso scale due to the fibers and at the micro scale due to the close packing of grains which is on account of good grading of the particles. Micro structure of UHSC mix has been examined for various magnifications to identify the pores if any present in the mix. Brief note on characteristic length and brittleness number has been given.

The aim of radiosurgery cures a patient to deliver the lower dose at the normal organ and the higher dose at the tumor. Therefore accuracy of the dose is required to gain effect of radiosurgery in surgical planning. In this paper, we developed the methods of target approximation for a fast treatment planning. Nominally, the stereotactic radiosurgery(SRS) using Linac and Gamma knife produces spherical dose distribution through circular collimators using multiple arcs and 201 holes on semi-spherical helmet by $^{60}Co$. We developed an automatic radiosurgical plan about spherical packing arrangement. To automatically plan the SRS, new planning methods based on cylinder and cube structure for target shaping was developed. This approach using heuristic and stochastic algorithm is a useful radiosurgical plan without restrictions in the various tumor shapes and the different modalities.

$TiO_2$ films prepared by RF magnetron sputtering, electron beam evaporation, ion assisted deposition (IAD) and sol-gel method are prepared on c-Si substrate and vitreous silica substrate respectively. From the transmission spectra of $TiO_2$ films on vitreous silica substrate in the spectral region from 190 nm to 900 nm, k($\lambda$) of $TiO_2$ is obtained. Using k($\lambda$) in the interband transition region the coefficients of the quantum mechanical dispersion relation of an amorphous $TiO_2$ and hence n($\lambda$) including the optically opaque region of above fundamental transition energy are obtained. The spectroscopic ellipsometry spectra of $TiO_2$ films in the spectral region of 1.5-5.0eV are model analyzed to get the film packing density variation versus i) substrate material, ii) film thickness and iii) film growth technique. The complex refractive index change of these $TiO_2$ films versus water condensation is also studied. Film micro-structures by SE modelling results are compared with those by atomic force microscopy images and X-ray diffraction data.
This is the study for the removal of a toxic heavy metal ions and the recycling of expanded polystyrene wastes. Thus expanded polystyrene wastes collected from the packing materials of TV or chemicals and dissolved by $80wt.\%$ solvent(N, N-Dimethylacrylamide), electrospun in DC 20kV by power supply. Generally, the electrospinning is a process of manufacture to the fibers of nanosize from polymer solution. Manufactured nanofiber mats by electrospinning were sulfonated by cone.-sulphuric acid with $Ag_2S_O_4$ catalysts for the exchange capacity of heavy metal ions and the properties of structure with sulfonated time investigated by FESEM(Feild Emission Scaning Electron Microscope). The ion exchange capacity of light metal$(Na^+)$, Cd(II) and Ni(II), and by a nanofiber mats were 1.94[mmo1/g-dry-mat), 1.72(mmol/g-dry-mat), 1.24(mmol/g-dry-mat), respectively., and water uptake content showed a similar trend with IEC. and The selectivity coefficients $K^M_H$ of Cd(II), Ni((II) ions showed 0.324, 0.228. respectively.
Graphite has hexagonal closed packing structure with two bonding characteristics; (1) van der waals bonding between c axis, and (2) covalent bonding in the a and b axis. The weak van der waals bonds cause self-lubricant property, and the strong covalent bonds cause excellent electric and thermal conductivity. Furthermore, graphite is chemically very inert because of the material composed of only carbon elements. Thus, graphite is very useful for mechanical sealing materials. However, Graphite have porous microstructure because starting materials of graphite produce many volatile during the manufacturing processes. This causes low density of graphite, which is unsuitable for the mechanical sealing materials. Thus, further impregnation process is generally needed to enhance the graphite density. In this work, high density graphite is prepared with the principle of densification when coke and pitch binder, prepared from thermal treatment of coal tar pitch, become dehydrogenation during graphitization or carbonization.
Two novel binuclear metal-organic coordination complexes [$Cd_2(Hdpa)_4(bpy)_2$] (1), [$Dy_2(dpa)_2(bpy)_2(NO_3)_2-(H_2O)_2$](bpy) (2) (where $H_2dpa$ = biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylic acid, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, spectral method (IR), elemental analysis (EA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), electronic spectra (UV-vis), fluorescent in the solid state and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Complexes 1-2 crystallizes isomorphously in the Triclinic space group P-1. The ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking interactions and hydrogen-bonds play a vital role in determining the crystal packing and construction of the extended 3-D supramolecular network.
Dicyanate-clay nanocomposite has been prepared by a melt in-situ polymerization method for different modifiers and cation exchange capacity (CEC) values in order to study dispersion and mechanical property. Various dicyanate nanocomposites were prepared by using different MMT systems containing different intercalants which led to different initial gallery heights and packing density. Depending on compatibility between dicyanate and clays, the degree of dispersion varied. Dispersion of clay plates in dicyanate resin depended mainly on CEC and aliphatic chain length of modifier. The lower CEC and shorter aliphatic chain length of modifier gave the exfoliation structure. It was also found that the reactivity of intercalant with dicyanate resin was one of the key factors facilitating the intercalation/exfoliation process of dicyanate/MMT nanocomposites. Shear modulus of reaction-induced dicyanate nanocomposite was significantly increased.

D-Psicose 3-epimerase (DPE) catalyzes the interconversion of D-fructose to D-psicose by epimerizing the carbon-3 position. The DPE from Agrobacterium tumefaciens was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The expressed enzyme was purified by affinity chromatography on an IMAC, gel filtration chromatography on a Sephacryl S-300 HR, and anion-exchange chromatography on a RESOURCE Q. The molecular mass of the purified enzyme was estimated to be about 135 kDa by Superdex 200 gel filtration chromatography, corresponding to a homotetramer. The enzyme produced crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction to a $2.0{\AA}$ resolution at 100 K. The crystals were found to belong to the orthorhombic space group $P2_12_12_1$, with unit-cell parameters a=102.4, b=113.0, and $c=131.8{\AA}$. In addition, the calculated packing parameter $(V_m)$ was $2.79{\AA}^3/Da$, the solvent content was 55.92%, and an asymmetric unit consisted of four monomers.

Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) has high compressive and tensile strengths due to the particle packing, and its ductile behavior can be ensured by utilizing steel fibers. However, since the UHPC members exhibit different characteristics of crack behavior and tensile behavior from normal concrete, the tension stiffening and cracking characteristics of the UHPC should be accurately modeled for the design and analysis of the UHPC members. In this study, uniaxial tension tests was conducted on the UHPC members with strands, where the test variables were diameter and reinforcing ratio of strands. Detailed analyses were also conducted to identify the tensile characteristics and crack behavior of the UHPC members. By comparing the test results with current code provisions and other models proposed by existing researchers, their applicability for estimation of crack behavior of the UHPC members was examined.
