PWM 방식과 인버터 방식을 사용한 시스템 에어컨의 성능평가에 대한 실험적 연구(난방저온 특성) (Experimental Study on Performance Evaluation of System A/C using PWM or Inverter Method (Heating Characteristics at Low Temperature Conditions))

  • The present study concerns an experiment on the heating characteristics of a system air-conditioner (A/C) using PWM method or inverter method at low temperature con-ditions. The compressors used are digital scroll type and BLDC inverter type. Under the low outside temperature condition, -5$^{\circ}C$, -1$0^{\circ}C$, -15$^{\circ}C$, heating capacities and COPs are mea-sured by the psychometric calorimeter using air enthalpy method. Also, outlet air temperatures at heating operation mode are measured at -5$^{\circ}C$, -1$0^{\circ}C$ and -15$^{\circ}C$. Experimental results show that COPs of the system A/C using a PWM method are more effective than those of the inverter method at heating operation mode. Although the heater is on, COPs of PWM method are similar to those of BLDC inverter method. Moreover, the heating capacities of PWM method at -5$^{\circ}C$, -1$0^{\circ}C$ and -15$^{\circ}C$ are larger about 10~20% and outlet air tempe-rature at -15$^{\circ}C$ is larger about 10%, compared to the inverter method.

  • An improved carrier PWM method for three phase voltage source inverters is proposed. The basic idea of the proposed method is deleting unnecessary 1/3 of switchings in the saw tooth carrier PWM method. The lowest frequency of the remained harmonics of this method (when the modulation index is large) is about 50% higher and the maximum modulated voltage is about 15% higher than those of the triangular carrier PWM method. This method will be useful especially in the linear feedback current control and MOSFET inverters.

  • In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of Motor Noise according to PWM method, especially in the case of 2-phase conduction method. There are two types of PWM methods used usually. One is Lower-PWM and the other is Upper&Lower PWM. Because there is a difference between freewheeling path of both methods, Current profiles of two methods are different. This makes the difference of Torque Ripple and so difference of Noise Performance. In this paper, the path will be analyzed and the comparison of Noise performance of two types of PWM methods will be showed by experiment results.

  • This paper proposes a carrier-based pulse width modulation (PWM) method to control an indirect matrix converter (IMC) by analyzing the relationship between the space vector PWM (SVPWM) and the carrier-based PWM. The complexity of the SVPWM method for an IMC can be reduced by using an equivalent carrier-based PWM method. The advantage of the proposed algorithm is its ability use only one symmetrical triangular carrier signal to generate the gate signals for all of the power switches in both the rectifier and inverter stages as compared to the conventional method where the carrier signal used in the rectifier stage is different from that of the inverter stage. In addition, by using a suitable offset voltage component in the modulation signals, the output voltage magnitude reaches 0.866 of the input voltage magnitude. Simulation and experimental results are provided in order to validate the proposed method.

  • 본 논문에서는 차세대 고속철도 구동 인버터 시스템의 고조파로 인한 전자기적 소음을 줄이기 위해 RCF-PWM(Random Carrier Frequency Pulse Width Modulation)을 적용한 인버터 구동시스템을 개발하였다. RCF-PWM 방식은 인버터 스위칭 주파수를 전력용 반도체의 최대 스위칭 주파수와 최소 스위칭 주파수 사이에서 임의적으로 변화시키며 PWM을 수행하는 방법이다. 본 연구의 타당성을 확인하기위해서 RCF-PWM이 적용된 차세대 고속전철 시스템을 설계하여 MATLAB/Simulink 기반의 시뮬레이터를 개발하고 이를 이용하여 일정한 스위칭 주파수를 사용하는 정규적인 SVPWM 방식과 RCF-PWM 방식의 시험결과를 비교 분석하였다.

  • This paper proposes the advanced PWM method that can reduce common-mode voltage in three-phase PWM converter-inverter system. By the proper distribution of the zero-voltage vector of inverter, it is possible to cancel out a common-mode voltage pulse in a sampling period. Since the proposed PWM method maintains the effective-voltage vector, it does not affect the control performance of converter-inverter system. Without any extra hardware, overall common-mode voltage can be decreased by one-third compared with conventional PWM scheme.

Novel Single-State PWM Technique for Common-Mode Voltage Elimination in Multilevel Inverters

  • In this paper, a novel offset-based single-state pulse width modulation (PWM) method for achieving zero common-mode voltage (CMV) and reducing switching losses in multilevel inverters is presented. The specific active switching state of the zero common-mode (ZCM) voltage that approximates the reference voltage can be deduced from the switching state sequence of the reduced CMV phase disposition PWM (CMV PD PWM) method. From the reference leg voltages for the zero common-mode voltage, an N-to-2-level transformation defines a virtual two-level inverter and the corresponding nominal leg voltage references. The commutation process of the reduced CMV PD PWM method in a multilevel inverter and its outputs can be simply followed in a nominal switching time diagram for the virtual inverter. The characteristics of the reduced CMV PD PWM and the single-state PWM for zero common-mode voltage are analyzed in detail in this paper. The theoretical analysis of the proposed PWM method is verified by experimental results.

  • This paper presents an unipolar PWM which commutated switching device only in a half period. This method reduced switching loss significantly because of decreasing switching number in n period. In high speed motor drive needed high frequency above 300 Hz fundamental frequency, this method is suited very well. This paper described the principle of unipolar PWM method, analyzed harmonic spectrum and compared with bipolar PWM, Modified PWM and Overmodulation method in switching loss.

  • This paper presents a carrier-based pulse-width modulation(PWM) method for reducing the common-mode voltage of a three-level four-leg converter. The idea of the proposed PWM method is intuitive and easy to be implemented in digital signal processor-based converter control systems. On the basis of the analysis of space-vector PWM(SVPWM) and sinusoidal PWM(SPWM) switching patterns, the fourth leg pole voltage of the three-phase converter called "f leg pole voltage" is manipulated to reduce the common-mode voltage. To synthesize f leg pole voltage for the suppression of the common-mode voltage, positive and negative pole voltage references of f leg are calculated. An offset voltage is also deduced to prevent the distortion of a, b, and c phase voltages. The feasibility of the proposed PWM method is verified by simulation and experimental results. The common-mode voltage of the proposed PWM method in peak-to-peak value is 33% in comparison with that of the conventional SVPWM method. The transition number of the common-mode voltage is also reduced to 25%.

  • 본 논문은 스마트 그리드의 핵심 설비중 하나인 반도체 지능형 변압기의 시스템 구성과 이에 필요한 PWM 컨버터의 PWM 생성 방식에 관한 논문으로, 반도체 지능형 변압기의 경우 입력단이 수전계통에 직접 접속되기 때문에 고전압을 견딜 수 있는 방식으로 구성되어야 하고 이를 위해서는 다단 연결방식의 PWM 컨버터의 구성이 필수적이다. 종래의 PWM 생성 방식의 경우 지령전압의 크기에 따라서 각 단별 스위칭 부하가 균등하게 분포되지 않기 때문에 이를 해결하기 위한 복잡한 리던던시를 스위칭 패턴에 추가해야 했으나, 본 논문에서 제안하는 방식의 경우 부하의 분담이 자동적으로 이루어지기 때문에 그러한 부담없이 시스템을 구성하는 것이 가능하다.
