A Harmonic Circulation Current Reduction Method for Parallel Operation of UPS with a Three-Phase PWM Inverter

  • In a parallel operation of UPS, there are two types of circulating currents between UPS. One is the low order circulating current with a fundamental frequency caused by the amplitude and phase differences of UPS output voltages, and the other is the harmonic circulating current with PWM switching frequency caused by non-synchronized PWM waveforms among UPS. The elimination of the low order circulating current is essential for optimal load sharing in parallel operations of UPS, which can be accomplished by the phase and magnitude control at each UPS. The harmonic circulating current may cause troubles and deteriorate in performance of the controller for optimal load sharing in parallel operation of UPS. This paper presents a PWM synchronizing method to eliminate the harmonic circulation current in parallel operation of UPS. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme has been investigated and verified through experiments by a 50kVA UPS.

  • A method for detecting the three-phase currents of a voltage-fed pulsewidth modulated(PWM) inverter is proposed by utilizing only one current sensor placed on the dc-link. The proposed space vector PWM technique is two phase modulated PWM, this enables to detect the phase currents from only one DC link current sensor. The proposed method is simple, reduces the cost, and provides the small detection errors.

  • In this paper, the inverter switch losses of BLDC motor for three types of PWM method and power devices was analyzed. When BLDC motor is driven at low currents, inverter switch losses for MOSFET is low because MOSFET operates like resistance. But, inverter switch losses for IGBT is higher than MOSFET due to its large turn-off losses. For low power inverter with MOSFET, the power losses of unified PWM is lower than that of unipolar and bipolar PWM.

  • This paper proposes the advanced PWM method which can reduce common-mode voltage in 3 phase PWM converter/inverter system. By shifting the zero voltage vector of inverter in a sampling period, it is possible to cancel out a common-mode voltage pulse defined by switching functions of converter and inverter. Without any loss of control performance of converter/inverter system, overall common-mode voltage can be reduced by one-third compared with that of conventional PWM scheme.

  • In this paepr, we present a soft switching PWM inverter as reducing switching loss and stress at high power application. The PWM inverter is designed by space voltage about 2$\sqrt{3}$ times (15%) than conventional SPWM method. To reduce switching loss and stress. The DC link requires a capacitor, an inductor and two additional switches. Therefore proposed inverter performs trun PWM operation under the soft switching condition. As a result of soft switching we can reduce switching loss and ensure stability of switching devices. For approach to real time, control system is realized by 8 bit single-chip microprocessor. Therefore, we can construct system is with simplified volumn and structure by eliminating carrier wave and referrence wave generator of conventional SPWM method.

  • This study proposes a carrier-based pulse width modulation (PWM) method for leakage current reduction and neutral point (NP) current control in a three-phase three-level converter, which is a carrier-based PWM version of the previously proposed low-frequency common mode voltage PWM. Three groups of space vectors with the same common mode voltage are used. When the averaged NP current needs to be positive or negative, the specific groups are employed to produce low-frequency common mode voltages. The validity of the proposed PWM method is verified through experiments.

  • 본 논문에서는 브러시리스 직류 전동기의 상 전류 제어를 위해 유니폴라 PWM 방식이 적용될 때 상 전환에 의한 토크 맥동을 저감시키기 위한 새로운 전류 제어 방식을 제안한다. 상 전환은 통전된 상의 평균 전압의 순간적인 변동을 야기시켜 전류에 맥동을 발생시키고, 이 맥동 전류는 토크 맥동을 발생시킨다. 본 논문에서는 PWM 패턴에 따를 전환 구간에서의 통전된 상의 평균 전압 변화를 분석하고 평균 전압 변동을 보상하기 위한 전류 제어기를 설계한다. 그리고 실험 결과를 통하여 제안된 방식의 효용성을 입증한다.

  • This paper proposes a method that can be used for the resistance estimation of a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)-driven solenoid. By using estimated solenoid resistance, the PWM duty ratio was compensated to be proportional to the solenoid current. The proposed method was developed for use with EHB (Electro-Hydraulic Braking) systems, which are essential features of the regenerative braking system of many electric vehicles. Because the HU (Hydraulic Unit) of most EHB systems performs not only ABS/TCS/ESP (Electronic Stability Program) functions but also service braking function, the possible duration of continuous solenoid driving is so long that the generated heat can drastically change the level of solenoid resistance. The current model of the PWM-driven solenoid is further developed in this paper; from this a new resistance equation is derived. This resistance equation is solved by using an iterative method known as the FPT (fixed point theorem). Furthermore, by taking the average of the resistance estimates, it was possible to successfully eliminate the effect of measurement noise factors. Simulation results showed that the proposed method contained a sufficient pass-band in the frequency response. Experimental results also showed that adaptive solenoid driving which incorporates resistance estimations is able to maintain a linear relationship between the PWM duty ratio and the solenoid current in spite of a wide variety of ambient temperatures and continuous driving.

  • 본 논문에서는 HAI(Hybrid Artificial Intelligent) 제어기반의 SV PWM 방식을 이용한 IPMSM의 고성능 제어를 제시한다. HAI 제어기는 적응 퍼지제어 및 신경회로망의 장점을 혼합 적용한다. SV PWM 방식은 지금까지 산업용 전동기 제어분야에 적용되고 있고 출력전류의 고조파 비율, 스위칭 주파수 및 응답특성을 향상시키는 수 있는 기법이다. HAI 제어기는 지령전압을 계산할 때 발생되는 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 종래의 PI 제어기를 대체하여 사용한다. HAI 제어기는 지령모델 기반의 적응제어, 퍼지제어 및 신경회로망으로 구성되어 속도 성능을 개선한다. 본 논문에서는 제시한 HAI 제어기를 적용하여 파라미터 변동, 정상상태 및 과도상태 등의 응답특성을 분석하고 종래의 FNN 제어기 및 PI 제어기의 응답특성과 비교한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 HAI 제어기의 타당성을 입증한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 플라잉 커패시터 멀티-레벨 인버터의 가장 큰 문제점인 커패시터 전압 불균형을 캐리어 비교방식을 토대로 한 펄스 폭 변조 방식(PWM)을 이용하여 제어하는 새로운 PWM방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 멜티-레벨 인버터로 확장이 용이한 캐리어 비교 방식의 PWM방법으로서 플라잉 커패시터 인버터에서 소자의 스위칭시각 커패시터의 충·방전으로 인해 발생되는 전압불균형에 대해 상전압 리던던시와 선간전압 리던던시를 이용하여 커패시터 전압의 변화량을 일정주기에 대해 평균적으로 영으로 제어하게 된다. 또한 이 방법은 상전압 리던던시를 고르게 이용하여 소자의 스위치 손실과 도통 손실을 같게 하는 장점을 지닌다. 본문에서 플라잉 커패시터 인버터에 서 발생하는 커패시터 전압 불균형에 대해 분석하고 이 인버터에 적합한 캐리어 비교방식의 PWM방법을 설명한다.
