  • This paper presents a novel multilevel PWM inverter employing series-connected transformers in order to improve the waveshape of output voltage and to reduce its harmonics. The proposed 11-level inverter consists of three full-bridge inverter modules and their corresponding transformers. Among their inverter modules, one is used as PWM operation and the others as level generation. From a suitable selection of turns ratio of transformer, continuous output voltage levels were generated appearing an integral ratio to input DC source. Because of their series connection of transformers, output filter inductor is not necessary. The operational principles and analysis are explained, and it is compared with a conventional multilevel PWM inverter. The validity of the proposed system Is verified through the experimental results using a prototype.

Control of the Third Harmonics Injected PWM Inverter in Over Modulation Mode (과변조 영역에서의 3고조파 주입형 PWM 인버터 제어)

  • A method to control the inverter output voltage lineally in over modulation mode of the third harmonics injected PWM inverter is proposed. The third harmonics injected PWM has a extended linear region compared with the sine PWM. But it still has a maximum voltage about 90% compared with the six step inverter. Therefore, to control the output voltage linearly in over modulation mode, analyzing the relationship between the modulation index and the peak of the fundamental component of the modified reference voltage, we can settle the problem in over modulation mode without iteration. Then we can increase the maximum fundamental component of the third harmonics injected PWM inverter comparative to six-step inverter continuously in over modulation mode. The simulation results of the inverter-induction motor system shows the validity of this method and experimental results prove it.

  • It is complex to realize the reference voltage vector by the space vector PWM method in three-leg two-phase inverter In this paper a new PWM technique for three-leg two-phase inverter fed two-phase induction motor is poroposed assuming that three-leg two-phase inverter is equivalent circuit for 'four-leg two-phase inverter with the connected two windings'. From assumption, six sectors are decreased to four sectors, and simple sinusoidal PWM method instead of SVPWM is applied to three-leg two-phase inverter. Also, the switching pattern to determine the switching periods at each sector is proposed. Practical verification of theoretical predictions is presented to confirm the capabilities of the new techniques.

  • 전력용 MOSFET를 사용한 새로운 PAM-PWM 인버터를 제안한다. 제안된 PAM-PWM 인버터의 출력파형을 이론과 실험적으로 연구했다. 선간전압파형은 기본파성분과 캐리아 주파수의 사이트벤드로 집중되어 저차 고주파는 출력파형에 포함되지 않았다. 각 인버터 아암은 2/3주기 동안 동작하지 않음으로 소자의 발열도 줄어든다. 그러므로 방열판의 감소에 의하여 인버터 시스템의 크기도 작아진다.

  • In this paper the novel pulsewidth modulation(PWM) technique for the two-leg and four-leg two-phase inverter is proposed. The conventional space vector PWM technique for two-phase inverter was complex. The proposed PWM for two-leg inverter, which is used by sinusoidal PWM method, is simpler than the conventional SVPWU technique. Also, a simple PWM technique for four-leg two-phase inverter is proposed. Such PWM technique is based on PWM technique for two-leg inverter. Practical verification of theoretical predictions is presented to confirm the capabilities of the new techniques.

  • A new modified command voltage of the third harmonics injected PWM inverter is proposed to control the inverter in overmodulation mode. The third harmonics injected PWM has a extended linear region compared with the sine PWM. But it still has a maximum voltage about 90% compared with the six step inverter.   • In this paper, it is suggested that instantaneous compensation PWM control for inverter without the smoothing capacitor Therefore, this inverter system has several advantages. It has small volume and low price to manufacture, decrease trouble rate of inverter, and has power factor correction effect because huge smoothing capacitor-less. And it has compact size control circuit to use analog integrator device. It could make the smoothing capacitor-less inverter for air-blower motor by using the instantaneous compensation PWM controller. This inverter system has small volume and value compare with the conventional VVVF control inverter.

  • In this paper, we propose a new Z-source inverter structure to reduce switching elements and PWM pulse control method. Z-network is connected between the inverter backplane and ground, rather than between the DC voltage and the inverter in an improved Z-source inverter. And the improved Z-source inverter has the advantages of limiting the capacitor inrush current and reducing the capacitor voltage stress. We have proposed a topology of a new type of switch-reduced improved Z-source inverter that reduces the number of switches from six to four in an improved Z-source inverter and developed a PWM control method suitable for the proposed topology. The characteristics and the performance of the proposed method were verified by using PSIM simulation.

  • 인버터의 출력파형에 포함되는 고조파를 저감하기 위하여 소프트웨어에 의하여 W형태와 M형태의 펄스 폭변조 신호로 구동되는 3상 5레벨 PWM인버터를 구현하였고, 인버터의 출력전압의 종합 고조파 왜율은 비교 분석하였다. 제안한 M형 펄스 폭 변조 제어에 의하면 PWM 인버터의 종합 고조파가 크게 낮출 수 있어 인버터 응용 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. W형 및 M형의 펄스 폭 변조제어 3상 5레벨 PWM 인버터를 구현하여 인버터 출력전압의 종합 고조파 왜율을 5〔%〕이하로 유지됨을 입증하였다.
