  • This paper presents the results of a grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) system modeling that contain incremental conductance MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller by PSCAD/EMTDC simulator and investigates the influence that can occur in the grid-connected PV system from aspect of power Quality, i.e. voltage drop, total harmonic distortion(THD) and total demand distortion(TDD) The measured data the PV array modeling of PSCAD/EMTDC in Cheongwadae, Seoul, Korea is used in the paper.

  • This paper analyzes the THD(Total Harmonics Distortion) according to output power fluctuation of photovoltaic(PV) systems using real time simulator. For being close to reality, the PV system including inverter and MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) which composed of closed-loop using real-time simulator are modeled. The change of irradiance and temperature of PV module is modeled to consider the change of weather. The various simulations according to the weather conditions are performed and THD is calculated at each condition. In this paper, the results by off-line simulation are compared with the ones of real time simulation.

  • This paper analyzes a operating characteristic for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of photovoltaic generation system. MPPT methods are used to maximize PV array output power by tracking maximum power point(MPP) continuously. To increase the output efficiency of PV system, it is important to have more efficient MPPT. MPPT algorithm is widely used the control method such as the perturbation and observation(PO) method, incremental conductance(IC) method and constant voltage(CV) method. In case of the radiation is changed, this paper proposes a response characteristic with MPPT control algorithms. Also, it proposes the direct for a novel MPPT control algorithm development through the analyzed data, hereby proves the effectiveness of this paper.

  • The paper presents implementation of a PV fuzzy logic power tracking controller. Using maximum power point tracker with the intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV system to the load. A new fuzzy MPPT is proposed, where fuzzy inputs parameters are dp/dI and the last incremental of duty of duty ratio $L{\delta}D$, and the output is the new incremental value $(new{\delta}D)$ according to the maximum power point under various illumination levels.

  • Prevention of the islanding phenomena is one of the most important issues because it can damage electrical equipment connected to the utility system and endanger human life. It is very difficult to detect an islanding condition of a power distribution line with conventional voltage of frequency relays, while the output power and the load power of utility interactive PV inverter units are in nearly balanced state in both active power and reactive power. This paper describes the protective equipment that prevents the PV system connected to the utility grid from starting islanding. Both predictive ocntrol method and harmonic injection method are used for a current control and islanding detection for operating safety.

  • The application field of photovoltaic system which has no-pollution and no-fuel distinctives is being spreaded inspite of its high installation cost. At present, there are three PV systems within the country, which were already installed and have been operated to supply the electric power in remote island. In this paper, the electrification plan of our government on the unelectrified or subelectrified islands is introduced, and the operation results of three PV systems are investigated to discuss the diffusion possibility of PV system as a power supply option.

  • Islanding is the electrical phenomenon in a part of a power network disconnected from the utility, where the loads are entirely supplied by PV systems, and where the voltage and frequency are maintained around nominal values. But islanding may result in power-quality issues, interference to grid-protection devices, equipment damage, and even personnel safety hazards[4]. Therefore, islanding must be detected and stopped. The existing anti-islanding methods have NDZ(None-detection Zone) or power quality degradation. But PV-AF power generation system has the function of not only shunt active filter but also anti-islanding method without NDZ. In this paper, It is proved that PV-AF system has originally the function of anti-islanding without not only NDZ and but current distortion

  • It is difficult to establish accurate modeling of PV power system because of various uncertainty. However, it is important work to modeling of PV for fault diagnosis. This paper proposes modeling and fault diagnosis method using correlation analysis and ELM(Extreme Learning Machine). Rather than using total data, we select optimal time interval with higher corelation between PV power and solar irradiation. Also, we use average value during 60 minute to avoid rapid variation of PV power. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, we performed various experiments by dataset.
