소구경 폴리우레탄 인공혈관의 개발을 위한 세포외기질위의 혈관내피세포 배양 (Endothelial Cell Seeding Onto the Extracellular Matrix of Fibroblasts for the Developement of Small Diameter Polyurethane Vessel)

  • A variety of experiments of endothelial cell seeding onto artificial vessels have been performed. To improve endothelialization, one or two components of the extracellular matrix (ECM) have been used as an underlying matrix. In this study, the whole ECM excreted from fibroblasts was used as an underlying matrix. Fetal human fibroblasts were cultured on a polyurethane (PU) sheet. After a conflu; ence was attained, the cytoskeleton and the nuclei of the fibroblast were destroyed using Triton-X. Mitomycin, or irradiation. Omental microvascular endothelial cells from adult human were seeded onto various substrates. After 12 days in culture, the cells were counted. It was observed that the ECM treated by irradiation had the highest cell number. In addition, the cells on this substrate exhibited the most typical endothelial cell morphology. For preliminary animal experiments the PU vessels (inner diameter, 1.5mm) coated with ECM were implanted in the infrarena] abdominal aorta of rat. After the vessels had been implanted for 5 weeks, it was found that the surface of the PU vessels was completely covered with endothelia] cells. In conclusion, we can state that the fibroblast-derived whole ECM makes a better underlying substrate for the endothelialization of small diameter artificial vessels.

R410A용 2단 압축 1단 팽창 냉동시스템의 성능 분석 (Performance Comparison of Two-stage Compression Refrigeration System Using R404A)

  • This paper present the performance characteristics of R404A two-stage compression refrigeration system. The operating parameters considered in this study include evaporating and condensing temperature, subcooling and superheating degree, compressor efficiency. The main results were summarized as follows: The COP of two-stage compression refrigeration system using R404A has an effect on the variation of evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, subcooling degree and compressor efficiency, but not an effect on the superheating degree. R404A two-stage compression refrigeration system is unstable because COP of this system is significantly changed when evaporating temperature and compressor efficiency decreased. In particular, when compressor efficiency decreased, COP is significantly decreased. This is inefficient for long-term use.

폴리우레탄 수지의 물성 및 접착특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Physical Properties and Adhesion Characteristics of Polyurethane Resin)

  • The polyurethane was synthesized by the reaction of polycaprolactone diol(Mw 2000), 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and 1,4-butanediol as the chain extender. Also, the modified polyurethane polymers based on liquid polybutadiene as a part of soft segment and dimethylolpropionic acid as a chain extender, giving polyurethane with various polarity, were synthesized. The thermal, mechanical, adhesion properties and water contact angles of the polyurethanes were examined. From the result of the water contact angle, the polarity of the acid modified PU containing 6% acid content was unchanged but mechanical and adhesion properties were improved. The water contact angles on polybutadiene modified PU films were increased with increasing polybutadiene content. The mechanical properties of the polybutadiene modified PU were higher than that of acid modified PU. However, the mechanical properties were reduced as polybutadiene content increased. The result is presumably due to phase separation between hard segment and soft segment. The peel strength of the polyurethane introduced with 5wt% polybutadiene was improved about 150% than that of unmodified PU. The same as the mechanical properties, the more polybutadiene was introduced, the lower peel strength was obtained.

폴리우레탄 기반 소비자 제품의 디메틸포름아미드 잔류량과 이의 저감화를 위한 조사 및 연구 (A Survey and Studies on the Residual Content of Dimethylformamide and its Reduction in Polyurethane-Based Consumer Products)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to conduct a survey of dimethylformamide(DMF) content in polyurethane(PU)-based consumer products and provide the information for the PU manufacturer and company to prepare a countermeasure for improving the quality competitiveness. Methods: This study selected PU-based consumer products(toddler shoes, children's bag, children's play mat, safety gloves), which is closely used in everyday life, and analyzed the residual DMF content in the consumer products. Results: In this study, it was confirmed that the average DMF content of toddler shoes, children's bag, children's play mat and safety gloves are 38 ppm, 119 ppm, 396 ppm and 826 ppm, respectively. In addition, most of the samples were found to meet the internationally accepted standard of 1,000 ppm and the DMF contents were reduced from at least 63 % to 85 % with a single washing process. Conclusion: The domestic PU manufacturers should seek ways to reduce the DMF through their production facility applications and introducing new materials such as water-soluble PU, and preparing the process development for their quality competitiveness.

A Comparison of the Dielectric Behavior of Aromatic and Aliphatic Polyurethanes in Relation to Transitional Phenomena

  • The dielectric properties of two polyurethanes (PUs) with different hard segments, i.e., aromatic methylene di-p-phenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and aliphatic hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), were investigated in the temperature range of -100 to $100^{\circ}C$ and in the frequency range of 1 Hz to 3 kHz. The ${\alpha}$-relaxations induced by the glass transition of the equivalent soft segments in the two PUs occurred at relaxation times of ${\tau}=3.46{\times}10^{-3}s$ for MDI-PU and ${\tau}=3.39{\times}10^{-2}s$ for HDI-PU at $-20^{\circ}C$, in accord with the temperature-frequency superposition principle, resulting in similar shifting factors. However, different I-relaxations were observed for the two PUs. The I-relaxation of MDI-PU occurred due to the mobility of the chain extenders near $80^{\circ}C$ with a slower shifting rate than the ${\alpha}$-relaxation. On the other hand, I-relaxation arising from both the extender and the unconstrained hard segments of HDI-PU occurred at $70{\sim}100^{\circ}C$, indicating complicated dielectric behavior due to partial interaction with the ${\alpha}$-relaxation at high frequencies. Thus, the I-relaxation of HDI-PU did not follow the superposition principle. The dielectric behaviors of the PUs were mainly influenced by their phase transitions, which were affected by the structure and components of the materials.

A case of acute skin failure misdiagnosed as a pressure ulcer, leading to a legal dispute

  • It is difficult to differentiate acute skin failure (ASF) from pressure ulcer (PU). ASF is defined as unavoidable injury resulting from hypoperfusion caused by severe dysfunction of another organ system. We describe a case of ASF mistaken as PU that resulted in a legal dispute. A 74-year-old male patient was admitted to our intensive care unit with sepsis due to bacterial pneumonia. Despite the use of air cushions and regular position changes, skin ulcerations occurred over his occiput, back, buttock, elbow, and ankle. After improvement in his general condition, he was transferred to the department of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Debridement was performed immediately, followed by conservative treatment (including a vacuum-assisted closure device) for 6 weeks. The buttock and occiput wounds were treated surgically. Despite complete healing, his caregivers sued the hospital for failing to prevent PU formation. ASF is a pressure-related injury resulting from hemodynamic instability due to organ system failure. Unlike PU, ASF may occur despite the implementation of all appropriate preventive measures. Furthermore, misdiagnosis of ASF as PU can lead to litigation. Therefore, it is critical for the proper diagnosis to be made quickly, and for physicians to explain that ASF occurs despite proper preventative treatment.

폴리에테르-디올과 방향족 디이소시아네이트계의 우레탄 프리폴리머 합성에 따른 특성연구 (A Study on Properties of the Urethane Prepolymer Synthesis with Polyether-diol and Aromatic Diisocyanate System)

  • 폴리올과 이소시아네이트의 선택과 조성은 폴리우레탄 접착제와 calking sealant의 프리폴리머 제조에 많은 영향을 주는데, 이러한 접착제 및 sealant 제조의 전단계로써 피착제 표면의 습기와 반응하여 경화되는 일액습기경화형 프리폴리머를 여러 가지 조성으로 제조하여 반응성, 구조적 차이 및 물성을 비교검토하였다. 프리폴리머의 제조에서는 이소시아네이트로서 TDI 및 MDI를 사용하고, 폴리올로서는 내가수분해성 및 저온 물성이 우수한 에테르계의 PTMG와 PPG를 사용하여 [NCO]/[OH] 몰비에 따른 변화를 검토한 결과, 각각의 프리폴리머는 큰 구조적 변화가 없이 적절한 분자량의 조정이 가능함을 알 수 있었고, [NCO]/[OH]의 몰비에 따른 반응성을 비교한 결과 [NCO]/[OH]=1.78/1의 경우가 가장 우수하게 나타났다. 또한, 이소시아네이트와 폴리올의 종류에 따른 반응성 비교에서 이소시아네이트에 따른 영향보다 폴리올 종류에 따른 영향이 지배적임을 확인하였고, 각각의 프리폴리머로 제조한 조성물의 인장강도와 토오크 강도의 측정 결과 가장 적합한 경화촉진제의 양은 0.05~0.1%이었다. 그리고 이러한 강도의 측정결과 원료성분중 이소시아네이트로서는 MDI보다 TDI 쪽이 우수하게 나타났고 폴리올에서는 PTMG가 PPG보다 우수하게 나타났다.

비디오 프레임의 최소 화소를 이용한 장면 전환 검출 기술 (Shot Change Detection Algorithm Using Minimum Pixels of Video Frame)

  • 장면 전환 검출은 대용량 비디오 데이터의 효과적인 관리를 위해서 사용되는 기술로서 현재까지 비디오 프레임의 크기를 대폭 축소시킨 환경에서의 연구는 미미하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 비디오 프레임의 최소 화소를 이용한 장면 전환 검출 기술을 제안한다. 장면 전환 검출을 위한 특징값 추출 요소로 가중치 분산을 사용하였고, 가변 구간 참조를 통한 적응적인 임계값을 설정하였다. 실험을 통해서 기존의 방법들보다 precision에서 2~20.4%, recall에서 3~18.2%, F1에서 1.1~19.3% 향상된 것을 확인하였고, 비디오 데이터 화소수를 1/256로 축소하여 실험한 결과 기존의 방법들보다 검출률이 월등하게 향상된 것을 알 수 있었다. 제안하는 방법은 계산량 감소를 통한 고속 처리를 가능하게 하여 다양한 소프트웨어 및 하드웨어 플랫폼에서의 고속 장면 전환 검출에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

담체가 첨가된 AO$_2$공법을 이용한 수산물 가공폐수의 처리 (Treatment of Seafood Wastewater Using AO$_2$ System with PU-AC Media)

  • 수산물 가공폐수를 AO$_2$공법에 적용하여 유기물, 질소, 인의 동시제거 가능성을 평가 하였다. 처리도 실험은 도시하수처리장에서 가져온 활성슬러지를 담체에 2주 이상 부착시킨 후 반응조 부피 25%로 충진하여 실험을 행하였다. 유입수 농도는 실험기간 동안 COD : 198 - 1,240 mg/L, TN : 75 - 577.4 mg/L, TP : 2.2 - 53.5 mg/L였다. 운전기간동안 평균 제거효율은 COD : 86.5%(65.7 mg/L), TN : 81.4%(53.1 mg/L), TP : 80.6%(4.07 mg/L)로 나타났다. Anaerobic조와 Aerobic조로 구성된 시스템에 유기물 및 영양염류 부하율이 증가되어도 비교적 안정된 형태의 운전이 가능하였다. 사용된 PU-AC 메디아는 높은 MLSS량을 보유하여 AO$_2$ 시스템 내에서 생물학적 처리율을 높일 수 있었던 것으로 사료된다.

수분산성 폴리우레탄의 합성 및 물성에 관한 연구 (Study on Synthesis and Properties of Water-born Polyurethane)

  • 폴리우레탄 프리폴리머들이 폴리올과 디이소시아네이트로부터 제조되었다. 이온화되지 않은 폴리우레탄 프리폴리머들은 폴리프로필렌 글리콜(PPG, MW:1000), 디메치롤 프로피온산(DMPA)과 이소포론 디이소시아네이트(IPDI)를 사용하여 합성되었다. 폴리올과 디이소시아네이트의 몰비를 변화시키면서 합성된 폴리우레탄 프리폴리머들은 물에 분산된 후 물성을 측정하였다. 실험결과는 프리폴리머가 하드세그먼트 40%, NCO 3.43%, [NCO]:[OH]=1.5:1.0의 조건에서 가장 안정한 분산액을 보여 주었고, 30%의 고형분으로 물에 분산되었다. 폴리우레탄 프리폴리머들은 또한 PPG와 DMPA의 몰비를 변화시키면서 합성되었다. DMPA의 몰비가 높을 때 폴리우레탄 수분산액의 입경은 감소하였다 3가지 종류의 말단기 차단제(blocking agent)를 사용하여 제조된 폴리우레탄 프리폴리머들은 사용된 차단제에 따라 각각 다른 초기 해리 온도를 나타내었고 3가지 종류의 차단제에 대한 해리의 시작은 모두 30분 안에 일어났다.
