  • This study aims to investigate the effect of polytriazolesulfone(PTS) addition on fracture toughness of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A(DGEBA) and 4,4'-diaminodiphenylsulfone(DDS). Various amounts of PTS were added to DGEBA/4,4'-DDS in diazide and dialkyne monomer forms and polymerized during the epoxy curing process. Fracture toughness(K1C), tensile properties and thermal stability of the PTS added epoxy resin were evaluated and compared with those of PES, the conventional high Tg toughening agent, added epoxy resin. Fracture toughness of the PTS added epoxy resin was dramatically improved up to 133%, as the amount of PTS added increased, whereas that of the PES added epoxy resin was improved by only 67%. The tensile strength of PTS added DGEBA/4,4'-DDS was similar to the epoxy resin without PTS and tensile modulus was improved by 20%. And thermal stability of the PTS added epoxy resin was improved up to 14%. Therefore, PTS addition to DGEBA/4,4'-DDS, as a toughening agent, is very effective way to improve its fracture toughness without any lowering in other properties.

  • Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been the overwhelmingly prevalent choice for high-data-rate systems due to its superior advantages compared with other modulation techniques. In contrast, a high peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) is considered the fundamental obstacle in OFDM systems since it drives the system to suffer from in-band distortion and out-of-band radiation. The partial transmit sequence (PTS) technique is viewed as one of several strategies that have been suggested to diminish the high PAPR trend. The PTS relies upon dividing an input data sequence into a number of subblocks. Hence, three common types of the subblock segmentation methods have been adopted - interleaving (IL-PTS), adjacent (Ad-PTS), and pseudorandom (PR-PTS). In this study, a new type of subblock division scheme is proposed to improve the PAPR reduction capacity with a low computational complexity. The results indicate that the proposed scheme can enhance the PAPR reduction performance better than the IL-PTS and Ad-PTS schemes. Additionally, the computational complexity of the proposed scheme is lower than that of the PR-PTS and Ad-PTS schemes.

  • The OFDM system has better characteristics in transmission rate, power efficiency, bandwidth efficiency, impulse-noise immunity, and narrow band interference immunity etc. in comparison with other conventional systems. However, high PAPR of an OFDM signals causes some serious non-linear processing of RF amplifier. And performance of the communication system gets worse. Therefore, various methods reducing PAPR of an OFDM skills such as the clipping method, block coding method, and phase rotation method etc. have been researched. In this paper, we propose a high-speed adaptive PTS method which eliminates high PAPR. And we compare the proposed method with other conventional methods. The proposed method has decreased quantity of calculation compare with an adaptive PTS method. Of course, The more its calculation amount is decreased, the more its BER characteristic is not better than an adaptive PTS method. However, keeping up satisfactory BER performance, we highly improved calculation amount of a PTS method.

  • OFDM communication system is effective for the high data rate transmission in the frequency selective fading channel. Since OFDM has high PAPR, OFDM signal may be distorted by the nonlinear HPA. In this paper, we propose an combined SLM and PTS method for reducing the PAPR in OFDM communication system. Proposed method increased some system complex in comparison with exiting method. But we made sure of high efficiency in the case of reducing the PAPR. As a result of using the 16-QAM modulation and increasing the carrier number in the SLM, PTS method and the SLM-PTS combined method, SLM-PTS combined method is more an effective method of reducing 3.5 dB PAPR than exiting OFDM system when this method is M, L=3, D=128, 256 in 10-3 BER.

  • To improve the utilization rate of phosphate tailings (PTs) and widen the sources of subgrade filler, the PTs is employed to modify clay, forming a PTs modified clay, applied in the subgrade. Accordingly, the environmental friendliness of PTs was investigated. Subsequently, an optimal proportion was determined through compaction and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) experiments. Afterward, the stability of mixture with the optimal proportion was further evaluated through the water stability and dry-wet stability experiments. Finally, via the gradation and microstructure experiments, the strength mechanism of PTs modified clay was analyzed. The results show that the PTs were classified in the non-hazardous solid wastes, belonging to Class A building materials. With the increase of PTs content and the decrease of clay content, the optimum water content and the swelling degree gradually decrease, while the maximum dry density and CBR first increase and then decrease, reaching their peak value at 50% PTs content, which is the optimal proportion. The resilient modulus of PTs modified clay at the optimal proportion reaches 110.2 MPa. The water stability coefficient becomes stable after soaking for 4 days, while the dry-wet stability coefficient decreases with the increase of cycles and tends to be stable after 8 cycles. Under the long-term action, the dry-wet change has a greater adverse impact than continuous soaking. The analysis demonstrates that the better strength mainly comes from the skeleton role of PTs and the cementation of clay. The systematic laboratory test results and economic analysis collectively provide data evidence for the advantages of PTs modified clay as a subgrade filler.

  • An adaptive sub-optimal method using a preset threshold for combining partial transmit sequence (PTS) of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal is presented. The results show that adaptive sub-optimal method reduces the 0.1% PAP by 3.4dB, while iterative flipping method reduces it by 3dB and PTS reduce it by 4.1dB. The complexity of adaptive sub-optimal method is 2.4% of that of PTS method for M=8.

  • PTS(partial transmit sequences) has been widely studied for reducing the PAPR of OFDM signal, since it is flexible and any spectral regrowth may not occurred. A drawback of this PTS method should transmit the side information of the optimized phase factor for correct OFDM symbol recovery. A new idea of this paper is to insert the feedback type side information in the conventional PTS method. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has the same PAPR reduction performance as the conventional PTS without side information and OFDM data are correctly recovered to get the required BER. Also, this method is independent of the channel characteristics and can be easily realized.

  • Partial transmit sequence (PTS) algorithm is known as one of the most efficient ways to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. The PTS algorithm, however, requires large numbers of computation to implement. Thus there has been a trade-off between performance of PAPR reduction and computational complexity. In this paper, the performance of PAPR reduction and computation complexity of PTS algorithms are analyzed and compared through computer simulations. Subsequently, a new PTS algorithm is proposed which can be a reasonable method to reduce the PAPR of OFDM when both the performance of PAPR reduction and computational complexity are considered simultaneously.

  • Teachers' intervention in small groups is a research area that needs more research attention. Ehrenfeld and Horn (2020) identified teachers' group work monitoring routines that consist of four recurrent talk moves: 1) Initiation, 2) Entry, 3) Focus, and 4) Exit. To better understand prospective teachers' (PTs) intervention in small groups in mathematics classrooms, I investigated how PTs' intervention actions and purposes are related to the monitoring routines, particularly, in terms of Focus moves. I analyzed 26 PTs' responses to four written scenarios, each of which depicts interactions among students in a small group. I identified 1) types of PTs' math talk, 2) types of PTs' non-math talk, 3) types of intervention purposes, and 4) patterns of intervention actions and purposes by scenario. This study contributes to understanding PTs' intervention actions and purposes in mathematics instruction.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new partial transmit sequence (PTS) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme with low computational complexity. In the proposed scheme, $2^n$-point inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) is divided into two parts. An input symbol sequence is partially transformed using the first l stages of IFFT into an intermediate signal sequence and the intermediate signal sequence is partitioned into a number of intermediate signal subsequences. Then, the remaining n - l stages of IFFT are applied to each of the intermediate signal subsequences and the resulting signal subsequences are summed after being multiplied by each member of a set of W rotating vectors to yield W distinct OFDM signal sequences. The one with the lowest peak to average power ratio (PAPR) among these OFDM signal sequences is selected for transmission. The new PTS OFDM scheme reduces the computational complexity while it shows almost the same performance of PAPR reduction as that of the conventional PTS OFDM scheme.
