  • A Phonetic Tied-Mixture (PTM) model has been proposed as a way of efficient decoding in large vocabulary continuous speech recognition systems (LVCSR). It has been reported that PTM model shows better performance in decoding than triphones by sharing a set of mixture components among states of the same topological location[5]. In this paper we propose a Phonetic Tied-Mixture Syllable (PTMS) model which extends PTM technique up to syllables. The proposed PTMS model shows 13% enhancement in decoding speed than PTM. In spite of difference in context dependent modeling (PTM : cross-word context dependent modeling, PTMS : word-internal left-phone dependent modeling), the proposed model shows just less than 1% degradation in word accuracy than PTM with the same beam width. With a different beam width, it shows better word accuracy than in PTM at the same or higher speed.

  • Pressure-dependent structural and morphological changes of two amphibole minerals, tremolite and actinolite, were investigated up to 7.0 GPa using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction underthree different pressure transmission media (PTM): water (W), $CO_2$ and silicone oil (SI). The elastic response of tremolite and actinolite are found to be dependent on the PTM used. When using water (W) as PTM, tremolite and actinolite show normal volume contractions with bulk moduli of 74(1) and 78(1) GPa, respectively. When using $CO_2$ as PTM, we observe the formation of calcite from tremolite above 3.8(1) GPa, whereas actinolite did not show any carbonation reaction. Under silicone oil PTM, we observe modulated volume contraction behaviors in both samples, compared to water and $CO_2$ PTM, with bulk moduli in the order of 90(1) and 94(4) GPa for tremolite and actinolite, respectively.

  • Gaussian selection (GS) is a popular approach in the continuous density hidden Markov model for fast decoding. It enables fast likelihood computation by reducing the number of Gaussian components calculated. In this paper, we propose a new GS method for the phonetic tied-mixture (PTM) hidden Markov models. The PTM model can represent each state of the same topological location with a shared set of Gaussian mixture components and contort dependent weights. Thus the proposed method imposes constraint on the weights as well as the number of Gaussian components to reduce the computational load. Experimental results show that the proposed method reduces the percentage of Gaussian computation to 16.41%, compared with 20-30% for the conventional GS methods, with little degradation in recognition.

  • Purpose: Pathologic tooth migration (PTM) commonly occurs in the anterior region and is associated with periodontal disease. The treatment of PTM of anterior teeth can be complex and time consuming, and a multidisciplinary approach is often required. Materials and Methods: The patient was a 38-year-old woman with a chief complaint of saving and realigning her elongated maxillary left central incisor. This paper describes the successful combined periodontal regenerative (guided tissue regeneration) and prosthetic treatment and a 2-year follow-up of maxillary central incisor with pathologic tooth migration, deep intrabony defect, and poor prognosis. Results: The right maxillary central incisor was restored by laminate veneer and the left by all-ceramic crown. The patient had no pain and discomfort and was satisfied with the outcomes of her treatment for 2 years. She has maintained her recall program at the Department of Periodontology at 3 months interval. Conclusion: The key step in the successful treatment of PTM in anterior region is to obtain a high level of cooperation from the patient. Maintenance of the treatment result of PTM is dependent on the continuous preservation of periodontal health.

  • The purpose of this paper os to present and discuss some of flow and drain observed in modelling results. Because dredged fill ground of Yul-Chon located in the south coast of Korea is very soft, this ground should be improved after operation of surface stabilization. There are surface stabilization method such as chemical stabilization, desiccation, horizontally vacuum drain, replacement, and geosynthetics. In Yul-Chon, PTM(Progressive Trenching Method) is adopted to provide the necessity condition of surface desiccation. In the case trench in the dredged soft ground is formed by PTM equipment, pore water in the ground is drained through trench. There, drain and desiccation of surface ground increase, and bearing capacity is improved. In this research, when trench in the dredged soft ground is formed by PTM equipment, permeable characteristics and drain efficiency of pore-water are analyzed using SEEP/W software package. Results show variation of total head, pressure head, flux, hydraulic gradient, and flow quantity.

  • Objectives The aim of this study is to examine the effects of Pediatric Tuina Massage (PTM) as a treatment of Chlidren's Epilepsy (CE) and to seek guidance for future follow-up studies and the use of Pediatric Tuina Massage (PTM) in clinical setting. Methods The articles were obtained from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) from 2000 to 2021 by key words 'epilepsy', '癲癎', '癲癎病', 'infantile spasm', '婴幼儿痉挛', '小儿发作', '婴幼儿痉挛' and '推拿', '按摩', 'Tuina', 'Chuna', 'massage' in cross combination way. Results Seven articles were selected and analyzed by authors, years published, characteristics, diagnostic criteria, treatment methods and contents, treatment periods, evaluation criteria and research results. Also, stability and side effects were reviewed, and the qualities of the randomized controlled trials (RCT) were evaluated according to Risks of Bias 2 (RoB 2). All studies using Pediatric Tuina Massage (PTM) treatment have achieved effective therapeutic results for treating Children's epilepsy (CE). Conclusion Pediatric Tuina Massage (PTM) is economical, safe without side effects and non-invasive, but still produce a good effect. Also, it is a good treatment option for children who feels anxious of ordinary Korean Medical treatment such as acupuncture, moxa, herbal medicine, which also results in good compliance with the treatment. In addition, it is possible to enhance therapeutic effect by combining it with pharmacological therapies in treating children's epilepsy (CE). Therefore, Pediatric Tuina Massage (PTM) provides an essential clinical basis in guiding further studies for the treatment of CE.

  • The feasibility of two strategies for transgene pyramiding using Agrobacterium-mediated transformation was investigated to develop a transgenic potato (Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Iwa) with resistance to potato tuber moth (PTM) (Phthorimaea operculella (Zeller)). In the first approach, cry1Ac9 and cry9Aa2 genes were introduced simultaneously using a kanamycin (nptII) selectable marker gene. The second approach involved the sequential introduction (re-transformation) of a cry1Ac9 gene, using a hygromycin resistance (hpt) selectable marker gene, into an existing line transgenic for a cry9Aa2 gene and a kanamycin resistance (nptII) selectable marker gene. Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) confirmed the presence of the specific selectable marker gene and both cry genes in all regenerated lines. The relative steady-state level of the cry gene transcripts in leaves was quantified in all regenerated lines by real-time PCR analysis. Re-transformation proved to be a flexible approach to effectively pyramid genes for PTM resistance in potato, since it allowed the second gene to be added to a line that was previously identified as having a high level of resistance. Larval growth of PTM was significantly inhibited on excised greenhouse-grown leaves in all transgenic lines, although no lines expressing both cry genes exhibited any greater resistance to PTM larvae over that previously observed for the individual genes. It is anticipated that these lines will permit more durable resistance by delaying the opportunities for PTM adaptation to the individual cry genes.

  • Even though a conventional metal ceramic restoration is widely in use, its laboratory procedure is still technique-sensitive, complex, and time-consuming. A ceramic-pressed-to-metal restoration (PTM) can be a reliable alternative. However, simplified laboratory procedure for a PTM is still necessary. The article is to propose a technique that reduces time and effort to fabricate a PTM with the aid of computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing and selective laser sintering technologies.

  • A study was performed to investigate the size of pharynegeal cavity and sexual differences between Korean adult male and female by introducing linear analysis of the lateral cephalogram. The radiograms were composed of 46 adult males aged 24.64 and 52 adult females aged 22.74 respectively. In order to study and measure the pharyngeal area the following skeletal landmarks were selected: S, N, A, Ptm, B, H, H', M, S' N, FH and CV, and the angle CV-FH was measured to provide a factor for correction of error resulting from improper head positioning of subjects, especially in the relative positions of A and H, while radiography. All points to be measured were projected at right angles to the Frankfort plane. For the purpose of measuring the anteroposterior dimensions of pharyngeal cavity the distances were measured in A-Ptm, A-S, S-Ptm and CV-H, and vertical measurements were made in SN-A, SN-PNS, SN-H' and M-H'. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The pharyngeal cavity is broader in the vertical than in the anteroposterior diameter in both sex and the maxium sexual differences were showed in the distances between SN and H', and minimal sexual differences in the distances between S and Ptm. 2. In general, the measurements of male were larger than those of female in the anteroposterior dimensions of pharyngeal cavity, but the distances bet-ween A and S, between CV and H showed significant sexual differences when evaluated statistically. 3. All of the measurements were larger in male than in female in vertical dimensions of pharyngeal cavity, and there were statistical significances of sexual differences in all variables.
