  • In this paper a platform that makes it possible the simulations of the vehicle operational control for PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) is introduced. PRT system has very short headway and requires accurate speed control of the vehicles to avoid the impact between the vehicles. The proposed platform is composed of central control system, station control system, communication control system, AP for wireless communication, and monitoring system. Simple operational test scenarios are presented and the effectiveness of the proposed platform is shown using the test scenarios.

  • In this paper, we propose a customized genetic algorithm (GA) to find the minimum-cost guideway network (GN) of personal rapid transit (PRT) subject to connectivity, reliability, and traffic capacity constraints. PRT is a novel transportation concept, where a number of automated taxi-sized vehicles run on an elevated GN. One of the most important problems regarding PRT is how to design its GN topology for given station locations and the associated inter-station traffic demands. We model the GN as a directed graph, where its cost, connectivity, reliability, and node traffics are formulated. Based on this formulation, we develop the GA with special genetic operators well suited for the GN design problem. Such operators include steady state selection, repair algorithm, and directed mutation. We perform numerical experiments to determine the adequate GA parameters and compare its performance to other optimization algorithms previously reported. The experimental results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach for the GN design problem having up to 210 links.

  • Recently, the traditional paradigm in railroad technology is changing as more efficient and cost-effective electric vehicle (EV) technologies have emerged. The original concept of PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) proposed in the past has come to be regarded as unrealistic, but its feasibility is improving through the utilization of an EV platform. In particular, battery-powered vehicles pose difficult technical challenges in attempts to achieve reliable and efficient operation. However, based on the inductive power transfer (IPT) technology, the fast charging of supercapacitors with high energy density can contribute to overcoming this technical challenge and promote the transition to electric-powered ground transportation by improving the appearance of cities. This study discusses the development process of a power supply system for PRT, including concept design, numerical analysis, and device manufacturing, along with performance predictions and evaluations. In terms of results, the system was found to meet the performance requirements for power supply modules on a test-bed.

  • Personal Rapid Transit(PRT) is a new unmanned transportation system using electricity. The purpose of the PRT is relieving the congestion of city traffic and connecting between inner city and airport, high-speed railroad. PRT requires to develop devices for the guarantee of safety and reliability. PRT as the mean of rail transportation must be equipped with control system for front rail sensing. Ultra Wide Band(UWB) radar system is suitable for PRT's detection because it has the advantage of low power consumption, low interference and high resolution. In this paper, an improved adaptive Constant False Alarm Rate(CFAR) algorithm is proposed and studied in various noise environments. The proposed algorithm improves performance in various noise environments compared to the Mean Level CFAR algorithms and other adaptive CFAR algorithms.

  • To solve the traffic problems increased in the big cities, a lot of local transportation authorities are taking into account the New Transit system. But most of projects are pending due to the financial and technical issues. New Transit system has various kinds of characteristics in the view of system technology and operational features. The introduction of PRT system into the Korean market can be investigated through the comparison with other new transit modes.

  • This paper shows the analysis of the inductive power transfer system in conjunction with series resonant converter operating variable high frequency. Of particular interest is the sensitivity of the complete system to variations in operational frequency and parameters. In inductive power transfer system, electrical power is transferred from a primary winding in the form of a coil or track, to one or more isolated pick-up coils that may relative to the primary. The ability to transmit power without contact enables high reliability and easy maintenance that allows inductive power transfer system to be implemented in hostile environments. This technology has found application in many fields such as electric vehicles, PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) etc. The coupling between the primary and secondary is then presented to include the effects of parameter and operational frequency variation.

  • In this paper, the inductive power collector using electromagnetic induction for vehicle such as the PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) system is suggested and son ideas for power collector design to improve tile power transfer performance are presented. And also, the analysis of the inductive power transfer system in conjunction with series resonant converter operating variable high frequency is shown. Of particular interest is the sensitivity of the complete system to variations in operational frequency and parameters. This technology has found application in many fields such as electric vehicles, PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) etc. But, low output power is generated due to a loosely coupled characteristic of the large air-gap. Therefore, we will show you various characteristic of inductive power transfer system as double layer construction of secondary winding, which was divided in half to increase both output current and output voltage, a model of power collector and parallel winding structure, a model of concentration/ decentralization winding and the effects of parameter and operational frequency variation.

The proposed the inductive power collector is used for the PRT system, which has a large air-gap and demands a large electrical power capability. Therefore, double layer construction of secondary winding. which was divided in half to increase both output current and output voltage was suggested. Also, model of power collector and parallel winding structure are presented, in addition, the performance of inductive power collector to alignment condition between the primary power line and the inductive power transformer was verified by computer simulation of 2kW model.
