Period which does an electric condition of panel in reset in the driving method of PDP is reset period. This research experimentally analyzed the priming discharge characteristic of reset period. The amount of wall charge and the accumulation time accumulated by priming discharge are unrelated to width of priming pulse. And, self-erase discharge has the relation in the amount of wall charge by priming discharge. Then, it relates also to space charge generated by priming discharge. Moreover, space charge which helps self-erase discharge exists to about 22$mutextrm{s}$ after generating priming discharge. And, it is suitable within 12$mutextrm{s}$ of priming pulse width for efficient reset.

A new high speed addressing method is proposed to reduce the addressing time below lus per line in AC PDP. In this method, the priming discharge is used to achieve a high speed addressing without adding an auxiliary electrode. Two different types of priming discharges were studied to achieve a high speed addressing and also reduce the inherent light output caused by the priming discharge in order to improve the contrast ratio characteristics. In the panel experiment, the addressing was successfully done with a lus address pulse width in the new method and the better contrast ratio was achieved in the Y-A priming rather than the Y-X priming case even though the reduction of the address period was smaller than that of the Y-X priming due to the extra address time for the priming discharges.
This study was carried out to identify the optimum condition for priming, as a series of experiments for the enhancement of germination percentage and germination synchronization in cool-season turfgrass seeds. The optimum priming conditions to maximize the germinability in both Kentucky bluegrass and Tall fescue was a 1 day treatment of 100 mM $K_3PO_4$ at $25^{\circ}C$. The seeds treated with the optimum priming condition enhanced the germinability compared to control, and shortened the time for germination with reduced $T_{50}$ and mean daily germination (MDG). However, as the concentration and treatment period of NaOH or KOH increased, significantly decrease in germination percentage was observed. Germination percentage in Creeping bentgrass and Bentgrass was below 10%, regardless of priming treatment. However, the priming treatment with 200 mM $KNO_3$ for three days improved the germination up to 6%, which was not a statistically significant level. The most effective priming period for Kentucky bluegrass and Tall fescue was one day treatment, but the germinability was suppressed as the treatment period was extended until six days. For priming chemical treatment, germinability was improved with the concentration of 100 mM, while it was reduced at higher concentrations of 200 mM and 300 mM.
The objective of this research was to determine the effect of seed priming on membrane integrity during poriming and germination. Among the five chemicals, $KNO_3$at 150 mL gave the shortest $T_{50}$ (days required to reach 50% of the final germination percentage). Compared to unprimed, the seeds primed with 150 mL $KNO_3$ at 20$^{\circ}C$ for 4 days had reduced $T_{50}$ values when germinated at 15$^{\circ}C$. These results indicated that seed priming is an effective way for rapid and synchronized germination, especially at low temperature. Changes in conductivity of priming solutions during the 4-days period of priming were highly dependent upon the priming agents. Conductivity of the $KNO_3$ and $K_3PO_4$ solution slowly declined during the first 3 hours ad then increased Amount of amino acids, sugars and proteins exuded from seeds into $KNO_3$ solution were less than those into distilled water and $K_3PO_4$. All the results suggested that the $KNO_3$ priming play a positive role in regulating the permeability of cell membranes.

Excavations by blasting in urban area have caused lots of complaints. Hence, special attentions need to be paid to controlling the ground vibrations in designing blasting for those areas. In this study, among the various parameters that can affect the propagation characteristics of ground vibrations, the effect of the priming location of explosive on the ground vibration level was studied for two types of emulsion explosives that had different detonation velocities. Three priming locations of top, middle, and bottom were considered in a charged hole. In the experiment on the effect of detonation velocity, the ground vibration caused by the explosive with a lower detonation velocity showed larger attenuation in the amplitude. The priming locations also affected the ground vibrations levels. The ground vibration level produced from middle priming was found to be larger than the other priming methods under the same blast conditions, but the attenuation of amplitude was also larger in this case. In contrast, the ground vibration level from bottom priming was not larger than the middle priming, but the attenuation was smaller so that the ground vibration was detected at a longer distance.

In order to increase the germination speed and uniformity of tomato seeds, sonication and modified drum priming treatments were investigated to produce high quality seeds for export. Sonication treatment was performed for 5, 10 and 20minutes at an intensity of 5.2, 10.4 and 15.7kHz in water at $15^{\circ}C$. After sonication treatment, seeds were primed with water or 100mM $KNO_3$ for 4days. 40, 50 and 60% seed moisture content (SMC) of hydrated seeds were incubated for 60, 72 and 84h in a container with a relative humidity of 99% at 26rpm for a modified drum priming treatments. Germination speed were highly improved by sonication with osmotic priming. The seed treatment of osmotic priming or hydro priming after sonication or sonication without priming enhanced germination percentage (GP) on the $2^{rd}$day after sowing to 46%, 43% and 28%, respectively, while untreated seeds resulted in only 1% GP. These treatments also highly improved mean germination time (MGT) to 1.4, 1.8 and 2.6days, respectively, when compared to 3.5days MGT of untreated seeds. The modified drum priming treatment (72h incubation after 60% SMC hydration) significantly improved results of 74% GP(on the $3^{rd}$day after sowing), 2.6days MGT and $39%{\cdot}day^{-1}$ germination rate (GR), however, untreated seeds showed 19% GP, 4.1 MGT, and $25%{\cdot}day^{-1}$ GR. Although osmotic priming after sonication, hydro priming showed similar improved germination characteristics, however, modified drum priming is considered as an industrially promising treatment methods considering the shortening of the treatment period and environment-friendly aspects.
Considerable research in dieting has examined the goal priming effect that promotes successful dieting. However, priming literature found that the process of which priming is led to behaviors involves not only the priming construct itself but the momentary self-concept activated by the priming. Based on this notion, studies examined whether the active self-concept as an "unsuccessful dieter" or "successful dieter" determines the priming-to-behavior effect in dieting. Study 1 used contexts of the prime as manipulation for participants' active-self following the prime and measured their chronic self-concept in dieting (rated on the Perceived Self-Regulation Success [PSRS] in dieting scale) as a moderator. The result supported the active-self account for the effect of the dieting prime. The interaction of the PSRS scores and the priming contexts was found in the dieting behavior of participants. Participants whose chronic self-concept in dieting is unsuccessful (the low PSRS) showed the goal-congruent priming effect only in the condition where the priming context reminded them of their self-concept in favor of dieting success. In the context where their dieting failure in the past became salient, however, the participants with the low PSRS were more likely to succumb to tempting food. In contrast, eating behaviors of the high PSRS participants were independent of the contexts. Study 2 tested a possible mechanism from the active-self to the behaviors. It is concluded that the active-self operates in the priming process by influencing anticipatory thoughts rather than automatic responses toward foods. The implications for understanding repeated dieting failures and designing practical interventions to help dieters are discussed.
These experiments were conducted to evaluate the variability of seed germination, and seedling growth of PEG priming barley. The average germination percentage(AGP) of PEG priming seed was higher than control, but those were low with extend the treatment period. The AGP of washing seed after PEG priming was higher than unwashed seed, and that of redried seed after priming was lower than control. The germination time of priming seed was short compare to control seed, and that was prolonged with extend the priming period, and that of washing seed after priming was shortening, and that of redried seed after priming was prolonging. The emergence percentage(EP) of priming seed was higher than control, and the emergence time was shortest in 50% field moisture capacity soil. The seedling and root length of priming seed was shorter than control.
This experiment was conducted to find out optimum priming treatment conditions to the sesame seed as a preliminary study for enhancing sesame germination properties. Effective priming agents and concentrations for sesame seed were $K_3PO_4$, 200 mM and PEG6000, -1.0 MPa respectively. Optimum priming temperature and duration were $15^{\circ}C$, 4 days in view of germination speed and germination percentage. PEG6000 with -1.0 MPa was selected as an efficient priming treatment condition at $15^{\circ}C$, 4 days. This study suggested that priming treatment to sesame seed would be an effective technique enhancing sesame seed germination and shortening time to the $T_{50}$ at the field condition, but the efficiency of priming treatments to the sesame seed would be strongly dependent on individual or integrated conditions of priming agent, concentration, temperature and duration etc.
Osmotic and solid matrix priming treatments enhanced germination performance. We compared osmotic with solid matrix priming to determine the more effective treatment for improving seed germination in pepper and tomato. Seed hydration was immediately observed after osmotic priming and solid matrix priming treatment. The moisture content of solid matrix primed seeds was lower than that of osmotic primed seeds in the two vegetable crops. Osmotic priming and solid matrix priming did not increased percent germination, but showed shorter number of days to 50% of the final germination percentage ($T_{50}$) compared with untreated seeds, regardless of germination temperature. $T_{50}$ value was reduced in osmotic or solid matrix primed pepper seeds about 6.0, 5.0, 4.6 and 4.0 days compared with untreated seeds at 15, 20, 25, and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. While, that in tomato seeds was reduced about 3.3, 5.0, 4.6 and 4.0 days compared with untreated seeds at 15, 20, 25, and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. The effectiveness of osmotic priming or solid matrix priming in reducing the $T_{50}$ was greater when the seeds were germinated at $15^{\circ}C$ than at temperature of higher than $20^{\circ}C$. Solid matrix primed seeds germinated faster than osmotic primed seeds at all temperature in pepper. However, there was no significant difference on the percentage germination between solid matrix and osmotic primed seeds in tomato. After priming, dried-bark seeds showed faster germination than surface-dried seeds in pepper. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in tomato. Emergence of pepper and tomato seeds was markedly enhanced by osmotic priming or SMP treatment although the final emergence percentage was not significantly influenced. On the other hand, early growth was not significantly influenced by osmotic priming or SMP treatment of pepper and tomato seeds.
