Generally, the discontinuous armature permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PM-LSM) is composed by the stator block (accelerator, re-accelerator, and decelerator) and the free running section. However, the stationary discontinuous armature design involves the velocity variation of the mover during drive when the armature's non-installation part changes over to installation part as a result of the outlet edge of the armature. Therefore, we considered deforming the shape of the outlet edge at the armature and apply skew on the permanent magnet by displacing the two magnet segments of each pole. This paper presents the results of a three-dimensional (3-D) numerical analysis with a finite element method (FEM) of the force exerted by the outlet edge.
This paper describes the restructuring of power electronics and electric drives courses, sponsored by NSF, EPRI, NASA and the local utilities, which has significantly increased student enthusiasm, and the undergraduate enrollment in these courses at the University of Minnesota has tripled since 1997. The developed leaching approaches have been the subject of NSF-sponsored faculty workshops in 1994, 1997, 1998,2002, and 2003. In power electronics, the power-pole based building-block approach unifies analysis and control aspects of all converters. PSpice-based simulations aid in analysis and design, supported by a hardware laboratory. For electric drives, an integrative approach addressing all three aspects of electric drives - machines, power converters and control is being. used. Space vectors, introduced on a physical basis rather than purely mathematical ions, are used fur analysis of ac machines. This leads to a more physical understanding of machine operation and also makes it easier to address control aspects in the advanced course. The lecture materials are supported by a DSP-based laboratory.
A palaeomagnetic study was carried out on Early through Late Cretaceous sandstones and volcanic sequences (the Songnaedong Formation, Chaeyaksan Volcanics, Konchonri Formation, and Jusasan Andesite it ascending order) from Konchonri area in the northern Milyang subbasin of the Kyongsang Basin, Korea. A high-temperature stable remanence with direction of $d=22.9^{\circ},\;i=59.1^{\circ}\;({\alpha}_{95}=3.0^{\circ})$ has been isolated and a corresponding pole was $71.6^{\circ}N,\;199.6^{\circ}E\;(A_{95}=4.2^{\circ})$. The characteristic high-temperature component resides in both hematite and magnetite. The primary nature of this remanence is confirmed from positive fold and reversals tests, The palaeopole is consistent with those of the Hayang Group in other parts of the Kyongsang Basin. A comparison of the palaeomagnetic pole position from the studied area with the contemporary pole from China west of the Tan-Lu fault presents that Konchonri area has experienced little latitudinal displacement nor vertical-axis block rotation relative to the Chinese blocks since the Cretaceous. Based on the formations indicating dual polarity, radiometric and paleontologic data, the magnetostratigraphic age of the studied sequence from the Songnedong Formation to the Jusasan Andesite ranges from upper Albian to lower Campanian reverse polarity chronozone. On the other hand, volcanic samples of the Chaeyaksan Volcanics and the Jusasan Andesite showed the scattered directions considered in group, even though individual sample showed a stable remanent magnetization in response to thermal demagnetization. It indicates that they have been reworked after acquisition of the stable remanent magnetization.

A Cut Out Switch (COS) is used for line protection and pole transformer protection in power systems. The COS used to protect the pole transformer is installed on the power side of the pole transformer to protect the electric equipment from fault currents. The COS is composed largely of a body and a fuse holder, and when the fault current is energized, the element of the fuse link in the fuse holder is melted to block the fault current. The arc generated when the COS fuse link is blown causes fire and noise, causing discomfort to residents in the surrounding area, and the arc flame can cause secondary damage to the peripheral device. In this study, a current-limiting COS fuse with improved overcurrent blocking performance rather than explosion type was developed to solve the arc and noise problems during COS operation. The overcurrent breaking performance of the current-limiting COS improves the reliability by developing a striker and COS fuse bracket. In addition, this study aimed to verify the performance of the developed current-limiting COS fuse through a test at an authorized institution.
Purpose: Reduction mammaplasty is a procedure with a relatively high patient satisfaction rate, however, associated scarring around the areola can be a serious problem. This study proposes a new modification of the breast reduction procedure by means of an inframammary incision alone. Methods: The breast is marked out preoperatively with standing position. Under the general anesthesia, an inframammary incision of approximately 7 - 8 cm is done. The subcutaneous plane is made in the lower pole of the breast, then the subglandular plane is entered and a sharp dissection is made up to 2 cm below the areola. The breast is mobilized from the chest wall and a cone-shaped parenchyme is removed in en-block except from the retroareolar central part. The remaining both pillars are gathered together with absorbable sutures and the base of the gland is narrowed to project the breast forward. The wound is closed in a layered fashion and taping of the breast mound is applied to redistribute the breast skin. Results: 21 patients (36 breasts) underwent this procedure from December 2004 to December 2009. Average follow up was 9 months (ranged from 6 months to 12 months). No major complication occurred. Most patients were pleased with the breast size, shape, and scars. However, 2 patients complained their hypertrophic scars which were corrected by revision. Conclusion: This technique is a simple approach to mild to moderate breast reduction through an inframammary incision alone. And, this technique provides an option with minimal complications and invisible scarring, which is especially important in the young patient group.

In this paper, we studied on new method of recognition using structural information to recognize character pattern in orginal shape of Hangeul. First, for the purpose of knowing location of character in input image. it processed Making block. Second, after we investigated. whether vertical vowel exited or not in character image accordingly the center of gravity of Hangeul. each character was classified into Type of Hangeul by searching location and length for horizontal vowel and short pole. Last, we processed it by means of template matching which calculate Uclid's distance on each Jaso in accordance to type classified. This paper made an experiment on 2350 characters and obtained 98.3% classifing rate and 95.2% recognizing rate.

In this thesis, an active RC filter using high order inverse chebyshev function is designed and the design method for cascading blocks with low sensitivity and maximum dynamic range is discussed. To have maximum dynamic range, we have proposed the simple algorithm with a pole-zero pairing, the cascading sequence by flatness matrix and optimum gain distribution for a given transfer function. And 2nd order Block is designed with negative feedback to improve the sensitivity problem which had a defect at active RC circuits. Using the suggested method, we have designed the active RC low pass filter of the normalized 7th order inverse chebyshev function, as a results, we have shown that this accord with the given specification.

This study evaluated the fatigue strength of the bogie frame of an urban maglev train through fatigue analysis, cumulative damage, and fatigue tests based on a proposed fatigue evaluation method. The results of FEM analysis in which various load combinations were adopted showed that all data were under the fatigue limit of a butt welded joint made of A6005 in a Goodman diagram. The cumulative fatigue damage was calculated at the highest level from a bolt connecting the area of the electromagnetic pole in the casting block; however, the total sum was evaluated as D=0.808 based on $1{\times}10^7$ cycles, which indicates that it did not exceed the failure criteria. In addition, the results of the fatigue testshowed that there was no crack at any position in the bogie frame, which corresponded to the results of fatigue analyses.

The Cretaceous Kyongsang Basin is known to be composed of several tectonic blocks (or subbasins) with each distinct stratigraphic succession. The study area represents a major part of one of these blocks, i. e. the $\check{U}is\check{o}ng$ block. The area is charaterized by a suite of WNW-trending sinistral strike-slip faults as well as a number of ring faults. A total of 292 independently oriented core samples were drilled from 23 sites, covering virtually all the formations of the Cretaceous $Ky\check{o}ngsang$ Supergroup. Alternating field and thermal demagnetization experiments were conducted to reveal the primary magnetization. Due to the homoclinal nature of the strata in the area, it was not possible to make use of the conventional fold test It is, however, believed that the primary remanent components have been obtained from the majority of the formations, considering the similarity of the palaeomagnetic pole positions with those of contemporary strata of other blocks and the existence of antiparallel reversed remanence. It was found neither any significant difference in magnetic declination on each side of the strike-slip faults nor systematic change of magnetic declination with distance from the fault-line. This does not support such a block rotation hypothesis associated with the strike-slip faulting in the area as alleged by some authors. The samples from the outcrops on or near the fault-lines were severely overprinted by the recent magnetic fields regardless of age and lithology. Epithermal Au-Ag-Cu-Pb-Zn mineralizations are known along some fault lines in the area. It is interpreted that these two facts are closely related with fluid circulations along the fracture zones caused by fault activities. In regard to the age of the strata as deduced from the magnetostratigraphic consideration, the $Ch\check{o}mgok$ formation and the lower strata should be older than Barremian or 124 Ma. The age of volcanics of the $Yuch^{\prime}\check{o}n$ Group sampled in this study should be younger than Campanian or 83 Ma.
Palaeomagnesim of Paleozoic Tuwibong Type Sequence in Yemi area was studied with a total of 256 core-samples collected from 23 sites. The study area (geographical coordinates: 37.l8$^{\circ}$N, l28.610E) is located between Taebaek and Yongwol belonging to the northeastern part of the Okchon Belt. Thermal cleaning was a most effective method to extract stable characteristic remanent magnetization (ChRM) direction, even though AF cleaning also worked on some specimens. Mean ChRM direction of the Cambrian Hwajol Formation was different from the present-day field direction and showed maximum clustering (max. k value) at 100% bedding-tilt correction. However, it could not pass the fold test. Ordovician Makkol and Kosong Limestones as well as Permian Sadong and Kobangsan Formations have very weak NRM, and were remagnetized into the present-day field direction. ChRM directions from the Carboniferous Hongjom Formation passed both fold and reversal tests. IRM experiments and blocking temperature spectrum indicate that both magnetite and haematite are carrier of the primary magnetization. Palaeomagnetic pole position from the Carboniferous Hongjom Formation is very similar to that of contemporary North China Block (NCB) suggesting that the study area was a part of, or located very near to, the NCB during Carboniferous.
