A Study on the Factors Affecting the Establishment of Personal Information Management Systems (PIMS)

  • As the dependence on information is increasing, the protection of personal information (PI) becomes a critical issue for the organizations, causing not only financial loss but also negative impacts on corporate images and reputations. To date, academic research in this area is scarce. This study analyzes the factors affecting the establishment and/or implementation of Personal Information Management System (PIMS) and provides direction for the practice. In this study, we assume that PIMS is one of the new technology adopted by organizations, and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model is selected as a base model for the study. Using structural equation modeling technique, both measurement and structural models are validated, and hypotheses are tested. Major findings of the study include (1) the major driver of the organizations attempting to adopt PIMS seems to be the improvement of the business outcomes, (2) organizational capability and resource are important in the establishment of PIMS, and (3) the perceived difficulty of the establishment of PIMS is not affecting the intention to adopt PIMS. Since the importance of personal information security is high, establishment of PIMS is becoming one of the critical issues in the organizations. The establishment of PIMS should be encouraged to strengthen the competitiveness of businesses and to enhance the security level of the entire nation. It is expected that this study may contribute to developing plans and policies for establishment of PIMS in practice, and to providing a foundation for further research in this area.

  • 최근 무선 통신의 발전과 이동 컴퓨팅 기술의 향상으로 다양한 개인 정보 단말 장치(PDA)들이 개발되고 있다. 그리고 이러한 PDA는 자신들만의 독특한 개인 정보 관리 시스템(PIMS) 응용들을 장착하고 있다. 하지만 대부분의 PDA에서는 해당 PIMS 응용이 하드웨어적인 제약과 자신만의 독특한 파일 시스템에 기반하고 있기 때문에 응용의 확장이나 효율적인 데이터 관리에 많은 제약을 받고 있다. 본 논문은 내장형 데이터베이스 시스템인 EDBM을 PIMS 응용에 적용하여 데이터를 DB 형태로 관리하게 함으로써, 응용의 확장이 용이하고 효율적인 데이터 처리가 가능하도록 하였다. 우리는 ETRI PDA 플랫폼에서, EDBM을 적용시킨 PIMS 응용 시스템과 기존의 파일시스템 기반의 PIMS 응용 시스템 사이의 성능을 비교하여 보았다.

  • This paper describe the passive intermodulation products(PIMs) which are formed in high power Ku-band transponder and antenna subsystem on the Communication St Broadcasting Satellite(CBS)program when two transmit carriers beat together to generate harmonics that fall into the receive band. How the PIMs are initially generated and the effect of PIMs for Ku-Band payload system are analyzed by calculating the PIMs frequencies and the power level of PIMs.

  • We demonstrated micro-scale conducting polymer patterning based on a selective surface treatment. A substrate with a patterned photoresist was immersed into OTS (Octadecyltrichlosilnae) solution. The protected substrate areas were hydrophilic after removing the PR resist, where a conducting polymer solution was coated selectively by spin-coating method.

A Study on the Priority of Complementary Measures about Deficiencies on the PIMS Certification (PIMS 인증결함의 보완조치 우선순위에 관한 연구)

  • Most of the privacy officers of organizations are hard to think of the corrective action about deficiencies of the PIMS(Personal Information Management Systems) certification. Because, it is difficult to define the priority of the complementary measures due to the unique characteristics and procedures of personal information protection for each organization. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the priority of the complementary measures using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). According to the results, it is important to comply with the legal requirements in the first tier. The second tier, PIMS experts answered that dedicated organization, password management, and agreement of the subject are important. Above all, agreement of the subject was found the highest priority for complementary measures about PIMS's deficiencies.

  • 방송통신위원회는 2011년부터 개인정보보호 관리체계(PIMS)를 시행하고, 심사를 통해 신청기업이 개인정보보호를 위해 일정수준 이상의 관리적 기술적 물리적 대책을 수립 및 운영하고 있을 경우 인증을 부여하고 있다. 이에 따라 이용자 및 정보주체는 해당 기관의 인증취득 여부를 통해 개인정보의 누출가능성을 최소화하고 효과적으로 보호하고 있음을 갈음하는 수단이 되고 있다. 본고에서는 개정 정보통신망법에 따라 지난 9월11일 방통위 의결을 통과한 개정 PIMS 고시에서의 주요하게 변화된 내용 중 민간인증기관 지정, 인증심사 항목의 개선에 대해 살펴보고, PIMS 인증을 준비 중인 기업의 이해를 돕고자 한다.

Development of high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) techniques

  • High power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) technique has been developed for more than 15 years. It is characterized by its ultra-high peak current and peak power density to obtain unique thin film properties, such as high hardness, good adhesion and tribological performance. However, its low deposition rate makes it hard to be applied in industries. In this work, the development of HiPIMS system and integration of radio frequency (RF) or mid-frequency (MF) power supplies were introduced. Effects of duty cycle and repetition frequency on the microstructure, mechanical property, optical and electrical properties of some binary, ternary and quarternary nitride coatings and oxide thin films were discussed. It can be observed that the deposition rate was effectively increased by the superimposed HiPIMS with RF or MF power. High hardness, good adhesion and sufficient wear resistance can be obtained through a proper adjustment of processing parameters of HiPIMS power system.

  • PDA와 같은 개인정보단말이 널리 보급되면서, PIMS 응용을 통해 원격 서버와 통신하면서 개인정보를 효과적으로 관리할 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 이때 사용자는 개인정보단말을 항상 네트워크에 연결된 상태로 유지하는 것이 아니라, 필요에 따라 가끔식 원격서버에 저장된 데이터를 가져와 사용하게 된다. 이러한 원격 데이터의 정확한 사용을 위해서는 원격 서버와 개인 정보 단말이 갖고 있는 두 데이터 집합간에 일관성을 유지해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 PIMS 응용을 위해 원격 서버와 개인 정보 단말간의 데이터 동기화를 지원하기 위한 SyncML 프레임 워크 기반의 PIMS 어댑터를 설계 및 구현하였다.

The Evaluation of Drug Utilization Review on Potentially Inappropriate Medications for Elderly Patients in a Tertiary Hospital (Drug Utilization Review 시행 전후 3차 의료기관에서의 노인주의약품 외래처방 현황 분석)

  • Objective: South Korea made a list of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) for elderly patients in 2015 and has prompted medical professionals to prescribe proper medication by using the drug utilization review (DUR) system. It has been three years since the system was introduced, but related studies have rarely been conducted. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the DUR system on the prescription of PIMs for elderly patients. Methods: The data on the prescription of PIMs for elderly patients (${\geq}65$ years) who received medical treatment between March 1st and May 31st in 2015 (before introduction of the DUR system) and who received medical treatment between March 1st and May 31st in 2018 (after introduction of the DUR system) were retrospectively collected from electronic medical records. Results: The prescriptions of PIMs decreased from 3,716 (7.7%) to 3,857 (6.9%) (p < 0.001). The prescription of escitalopram and paroxetine, among selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, increased significantly, and that of short-acting benzodiazepines also increased significantly from 454 (0.93%) to 624 (1.2%). Conclusion: Prescription of PIMs for elderly patients significantly decreased (p < 0.001) after the DUR system was introduced. Further expanded studies of PIMs need to be conducted for the safety of elderly patients.

The Effect of HiPIMS Conditions on Microstructure of Carbon Thin Film (카본 박막의 미세조직에 미치는 HiPIMS 공정조건의 영향)

  • Carbon thin films were deposited by HiPIMS(High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering). The properties and microstructures of carbon thin film were investigated with power, pressure, bias voltage and duty cycle. As the HiPIMS power increased, the deposition thickness increased and the surface tended to be rough. The increase in pressure also tended to make the surface rough, but the deposition thickness was not proportional to the pressure. As the bias voltage increased, the surface roughness became worse, the deposition thickness increased and then decreased from the critical bias voltage. Changes in the duty cycle have caused problems such as arcing, which is affected by the chamber structure and the size of the target. The $sp^2/sp^3$ fractions of thin films were estimated by XPS and it was confirmed that the fraction of thin films made by HiPIMS were larger than the fraction of thin films made by DC sputtering.
