  • The effect of organic impurities on the electrical properties of a neat epoxy resin was studied. 0.05, 0.5 and 1.0 phr of iso-propyl alcohol (IPA) and methylene chloride (MC) mixture (50/50 wt%) were used as impurities. The current density, volume resistance and impedance characteristics of the epoxy/IPA/MC systems were measured with a high voltage source meter and broadband dielectric spectroscopy. Glass transition temperature (Tg) was measured by a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and it was found that Tg decreased slightly with increasing IPA/MC content. It was also found that Tg values of the epoxy systems with various IPA/MC contents were closely related to the current density, volume resistance and impedance characteristics.

  • The cure kinetics of blends of epoxy (DGEBA:diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A)/anhydride (NMA:nadic methyl anhydride) resin with synthesized amino terminated polyetherimide (AT-PEI) were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Dynamic Mechanical Analysizer(DMA) under isothermal condition to determine the reaction parameters and gel-vitrification behavior. The fracture toughness of AT-PEI 20phr/epoxy resin system was improved over 224% and 42.5% more than neat epoxy resin and commercial PEI/Epoxy Resin System.

  • In this investigation, experimental attempts were made to observe and determine the variations in elastic of the PVC depending on the amounts of MBS added to the mixture, PVC/MBS, and also on the thicknesses of the specimens. An acoustic resonance technique was used for the tests in this investigation. It serves as a method to characterize properties of materials set in vibrational motions, which is initiated by low level stresses generated by externally supplied acoustic energy. Substantial variations were observed in the test results with the addition of the MBS to the PVC. It was found that the magnitudes of elastic constants decrease when MBS rubber was added in the range up to 9 phr and the shape factor effect in torsional vibration is more significant than the shape factor effect in flexural vibration.

  • Low density polyethylene is widely used as an insulating material In electric power cables. It is most important to know the beginning of its aging by partial discharge and UV-ray. That Is reason which we investigate chemiluminescence of the LDPE treated by partial discharge, UV-ray and corona discharge. We find that it takes one hour on spectra of IR but 0.17 minutes on chemiluminescence in the variation of chemical by partial discharge. Also we knew that Lithium carbonate-added(1phr) LDPE offered obvious suppressing effect on aging by partial discharge through the chemiluminescence. Therefore, the chemiluminescence is a highly sensitive and effective measurement method to appreciate characteristics of the treated surface and the oxidation reaction.

  • As life expectancy increases, chronic diseases become a problem, and health management in daily life becomes important. With the development of IT convergence technology, personal health records have been collected through various data sources, but they are saved separately by each medical services. Distributed storage of personal health records caused inconvenience about managing the user's health records. In this paper, we designed and implemented an integrated repository and web-based dashboard UI components to solve that inconvenience. The proposed method shows that users can manage their personal health records in the integrated repository effectively and show them through dashboard UI components.

  • The personal health record platform can store and manage medical records, health-monitoring data such as blood pressure and blood sugar, and life logs generated from various wearable devices. It provides services such as international standard-based medical document management, data pattern analysis and an intelligent inference engine, and disease prediction and domain contents. This study aims to construct a foundation for the transmission of international standard-based medical documents by mapping the diagnosis items of a general health examination, special health examination, life logs, health data, and life habits with the international standard terminology systems. The results of mapping with international standard terminology systems show a high mapping rate of 95.6%, with 78.8% for LOINC, 10.3% for SNOMED, and 6.5% when mapped with both LOINC and SNOMED.

  • In order to Improve the fracture toughness of epoxy resin system, liquid chloroprene rubber(LCR) and liquid butadiene rubber (LBR) which have hydroxy group were used in the brittle epoxy system. Mechanical and toughness characterization of the modified epoxy resins were investigated as a function of liquid rubbers content. Epoxy resins modified with both of the liquid rubbers showed complete phase-separation microstructure : In all of the LCR content, it was observed that the domain size of LCR dispersed in the epoxy matrix ranging from $2{\mu}m\;to\;5{\mu}m$. It was found that fracture toughness, $K_{ic}$, of the modified LCR system was enhanced continuously as increasing LCR content. However around 10phr of LBR system showed maximum fracture toughness. Specifically, when BPA add to the modified LCR system, thermal and mechanical properties increased than neat epoxy. At the same time, fracture toughness was enhanced.

  • With poly (ethylene-co-methacrylic acid) ionomer (i.e. Surlyn) as a compatibilizer, PP/organoclay (Cloisite(R)20A) nanocomposites were prepared via melt compounding in a co-rotating twin-screw extruder. For comparison, the widely used PP-g-MA was also used as a reference. The content of organoclay was fixed at 5phr based on the total weight of polymer resins. The structures of nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, rheometry in small amplitude oscillatory shear, SEM, and TEM, respectively. It was found that PP/Surlyn/OMMT nanocomposites displayed higher intercalation degree and better dispersion effect than the corresponding PP/PP-g-MA/OMMT counterpart. Additionally, their mechanical properties and wettability were measured.

  • This study made a specimen (contact surface size: $45\;mm{\times}0.02\;mm{\times}45{\sim}55\;mm$) with silicon rubber for low voltage cable with 50 phr silica filler. The electrification voltage of electrostatics were measured for different sizes of contact surface with the applied voltage of 10kV and the environmental settings of temperature ($25{\sim}40^{\circ}C$) and humidity (40~80%). The following conclusions were made. The electrification voltage of electrostatics decreased as the humidity increased. The electrification voltage of electrostatics increased as the temperature increased. The larger the surface size, the higher the electrification voltage of electrostatics. The property of the material had more effect on the relaxation time than the humidity.
