Objectives: This study examined the changes in anxiety and depressive symptoms in the parents of Korean adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) after participating in the Korean version of the Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills for Young Adults (PEERS® -YA-K). Methods: Forty-six parents were enrolled (mean age 54.7 years; 22 fathers and 24 mothers), of whom 27 participated in the PEERS® - YA-K as social coaches. Participants completed self-report scales, including the Test of Young Adult Social Skills Knowledge (TYASSK), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and Symptom Check-List-90-R (SCL-90-R). The scales were administered three times: before and after the 16-week program and 4 months after the program ended. Differences between participant variables at pretreatment, post-treatment, and follow-up were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests. Results: Participants showed a significant improvement in their social skills knowledge (TYASSK) (p<0.01). There was a significant improvement in the BAI and BDI scores of parents with severe depressive and anxiety symptoms at the baseline (p<0.05). Paternal paranoia and maternal hostility results also significantly improved on the SCL-90-R. Conclusion: This study suggests that PEERS® -YA-K can reduce parental anxiety and depressive symptoms. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first to compare the degree of depression and anxiety after PEERS® -YA-K in parents of adults with ASD.
This study was to identify factors influencing satisfaction on clinical practice of dental hygienist students located in G, J region. The data was analyzed by t-test, Anova, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS 21.0 program. There were significant in satisfaction of score(F=2.925, p<.05), perceive heath status(F=8.108, p<.001), satisfaction on department(F=8.198, p<.001). The relationship on peers with score(r=.277, p=.01) and perceive health status correlations with relationships on peers(r=.327, p=.01), The satisfaction on clinical practice had positive correlations with score(r=.127, p=.05), perceive health status(r=.226, p=.01), relationship on peers(r=.240, p=.01). The factors influencing satisfaction on clinical practice were satisfaction of relationship on peers, satisfaction of department, perceive health status. The results suggest that development of program to improve satisfaction on clinical practice of dental hygiene students.
Purpose: This study examined the levels of and the associations between middle school students' attachments to parents, peers, and teachers, truancy, and school bullying. Methods: Data on middle school student were obtained from the Korea National Children and Youth Survey 2010 (N=2,968). The independent t-test and Kruskal-Wallis test were conducted to examine the differences in truancy and school bullying according to the characteristics of students. Multiple stepwise regression analysis was conducted to identify the factors influencing school bullying. Results: The magnitude of the correlation between truancy and bullying was r=.34 (p<.001). Two types of attachment(to parents and to teachers) were associated with school bullying, with the magnitude of r=-.06 (p=.003) and r=-.09 (p<.001), respectively. Truancy and all three types of attachment (to parents, peers, and teachers) predicted school bullying significantly (F=27.84, p<.001). Conclusion: In this study, truancy had more influence on bullying behavior than attachments to parents, teachers and peers among middle school students. These results suggest there is need to develop and provide programs to prevent or early intervene in truancy, an important predictor of school bullying, to reduce school bullying among middle school students.
This study investigated causality in children's emotional intelligence and sociodemographic variables, including family structure, number of siblings, home environment and peer group variables. Subjects were 301 elementary and junior high 11-and 13-year-olds and their mothers. Instruments were questionnaires from the Children's Emotional Intelligence Scale. Data analysis was by Pearson's r, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, multiple regression and path analysis. Results showed that the variables that affected emotional recognition directly were age, sex, mother's education, economic status of the home, number of siblings, and emotional support of peers. Variables that affected emotion regulation directly were sex, economic status of the home, emotional support of peers, and common activity. Variables that affected emotional facilitation of thinking directly were age, sex, emotional support of peers, and common activity.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of depression and anxiety on treatment response of social skills training in adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Methods : A total of 107 teenagers that participated in the Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS$^{(R)}$) between 2011 and 2015 were analyzed using linear regression. Outcome measures used were the Korean version of Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS), the Test of Adolescent Social Skills Knowledge-Revised (TASSK-R), and the Korean version of Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (K-ADOS). Depression and anxiety were assessed by the Korean version of Child Depression Inventory (CDI), the Korean version of State and Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC), and the Korean version of Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL). Results : As a result, depressive symptoms measured by CDI (p<0.05) and anxiety symptoms measured by STAIC (p<0.05) had significant influence on score change of social interaction domain of ADOS. It remained significant even after the baseline score was adjusted as covariates (p<0.05). Conclusion : We observed that pre-treatment anxiety and depressive symptoms of teenagers had significant effects on the treatment outcome of PEERS$^{(R)}$, especially in terms of face-to-face social interaction.
Purpose: This study was to measure the degree of job stress and job satisfaction and the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction of 119 relief squads. Methods: The subjects were 170 members of 119 relief squads in the Fire Department of D City, and data were collected from 1 April to 20 April, 2006 through a survey using a questionnaire composed of questions on general characteristics (11 items), job stress (6 items) and job satisfaction (20 items). Collected data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation using the SPSS program. Results: The average item score for job stress was 2.77. Role sharing with peers was highest as 3.05. There were significant differences in the degree of job stress according to religion, working period and applying motive. The average item score for job satisfaction was 2.93. Group conflict was highest as 3.18. There were significant difference in the degree of job satisfaction according to religion, working period and applying motive. There were significant differences in the negative correlation between role-sharing with peers among the job stress factors and decision-making factor (r=.53), group conflict factor (r=.58), role implementation factor (r=.63) and personal social-culture factor (r=.53) among the job satisfaction factors. Also, there were significant differences in the negative correlation between co-workers among the job stress factors and decision-making factor (r=.607), group conflict factor (r=.51) and personal social-culture factor (r=.45) among the job satisfaction factors. Conclusion: It is important to develop various methods of job stress management to increase job satisfaction in 119 relief squads.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe quality of life in school age children and the relationship between quality of life and parenting attitude as perceived by children and parent-child communication pattern. Methods: Data were collected between May 26 and June 3, 2009 using self-report questionnaires from 148 pairs of children and their parents. The children were enrolled in 4th to 6th grades. The questionnaires included the Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI), Parent-Child Communication (PCC) Scale, and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL). The data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 17.0 program. Results: The Quality of Life (QOL) score for the children was significantly higher among children reporting higher parental bonding attitude (mother r=.38, father r=.34) and parent-child communication (mother r=.43, father r=.36). Results of multiple regression showed that factors significantly associated with QOL were academic achievement, caregiver available after school, parent-child communication, school satisfaction, relationship with peers, and birth order among siblings. Conclusion: Positive relationships and good communication with parents and satisfaction with school life were important factors associated with quality of life in school age children.
To meet the increased demand of video-on-demand (VoD) services, peer-to-peer (P2P) mesh-based multiple video approaches have been recently proposed, where each peer is able to find a video segment interested without resort to the video server. However, they have not considered the constraint of the server's upload bandwidth and the fairness between upload and download amounts at each peer. In this paper, we propose a novel P2P VoD streaming system, named peer cache adaptation (PECAN) where each peer adjusts its cache capacity adaptively to meet the server's upload bandwidth constraint and achieve the fairness. For doing so, we first propose a new cache replacement algorithm that designs the number of caches for a segment to be proportional to its popularity. Second, we mathematically prove that if the cache capacity of a peer is proportional to its segment request rate, the fairness between upload and download amounts at each peer can be achieved. Third, we propose a method that determines each peer's cache capacity adaptively according to the constraint of the server's upload bandwidth. Against the proposed design objective, some selfish peers may not follow our protocol to increase their payoff. To detect such peers, we design a simple distributed reputation and monitoring system. Through simulations, we show that PECAN meets the server upload bandwidth constraint, and achieves the fairness well at each peer. We finally verify that the control overhead in PECAN caused by the search, reputation, and monitoring systems is very small, which is an important factor for real deployment.
MPEG-21 has identified the need fur Event Reporting in its vision for an interoperable multimedia framework. Event Reporting is required within the MPEG-21 multimedia framework in order to provide a standardized means for sharing information about Events amongst Peers and Users. Such Events relate to Digital Items and/or Peers that interact with them. Arising from an each Event, there is the opportunity to describe what occurred. However, there are a number of difficulties in providing an accurate report about an Event. Different observers of the Event may have vastly different perspectives, needs, and focuses. They may emphasize certain elements to the detriment of others, or they may describe an Event in a way that others may find confusing. In this paper, we design how to express Event Reporting message structure and system architecture in compliance with ISO/IEC 21000-15. And we implement the system for MPEG-21 Event Reporting service.

In this paper, we propose a FDR(False Data Reduction) strategy for P2P environment that reduces false data. The key idea of our strategy is that we use FDR algorithm to stop transmitting of false data and to delete that. If a user recognizes false data in downloaded-data and the user's peer requests the others to stop the transmission of the false data immediately. Also, the FDR algorithm notifies the other peers to prohibit spreading of the false data in the environment. All this procedure is possible to be executed in each peer without any lookup server. The FDR algorithm needs only a little data exchange among peers. Through simulation, we show that it is more effective to reduce the network traffic than the previous P2P strategy. We also show that the proposed strategy improves the performance of network compared to previous P2P strategy. As a result, The FDR strategy is decreased 9.78 ~ 16.84% of mean true data transmission time.
