Methanol Extraction of Nitrogen Heterocyclic Compound Contained in Model Coal Tar Fraction of Nine Components System (9성분계 모델 콜타르 흡수유 중에 함유된 질소고리화합물의 메탄올 추출)

  • The separation of nitrogen heterocyclic compound (NHC) contained in a model coal tar fraction of nine components system was investigated by distribution equilibrium. The model coal tar fraction comprising NHC group (NHCs; indole (In), quinoline (Q), iso-quinoline (iQ), quinaldine(Qu)), bicyclic aromatic compound group (BACs; 1-methylnaphthalene (1MN), 2-methylnaphthalene (2MN), dimethylnaphthalene (DMN)), biphenyl (Bp) and phenyl ether (Pe) and the aqueous methanol were used as the raw materials and the solvent of this work, respectively. A batch-stirred tank was used as the liquid-liquid contact unit of this work. The distribution coefficient of NHCs increased by increasing the equilibrium operation temperature, whereas the selectivity of NHCs with respect to BACs decreased. Decreasing the initial volume ratio of water to the solvent resulted in deteriorating the selectivity of NHCs in reference to BACs, but improving the distribution coefficients of NHCs. At a fixed experimental condition, the sequence of the distribution coefficient and the selectivity with reference to BACs for each groups was increased in order of NHCs > Bp > BACs > Pe and NHCs > Bp> Pe, respectively. Also, the sequence of the distribution coefficient for entire compounds was in order of In > iQ = Q > Qu > Bp > 1MN = 2MN > Pe > DMN. The maximum yield of NHCs and the selectivity of NHCs based on BACs obtained by methanol extraction were 94 and 23%, respectively. Furthermore, the recovery process for NHCs from coal tar was studied by using the experimental results from this work.

Quality Characteristics of Cabbage Kimchi by Different Packaging materials (포장재에 따른 양배추 김치의 품질특성)

  • In this study, cabbage ($Brassica$ $oleracea$ var. $capitata$) Kimchi was made packed into four kinds of packaging materials, PET vessel, PP tray, OPP/AL/PE film and Nylon/PE/LLDP film, and the effects of these packaging materials on Kimchi quality characteristics, such as lactic acid bacteria counts, salinity, sugar contents, pH, total acidity, electron donating ability were examine as well as their effects on the sensory qualities after storage at a temperature of $4^{\circ}C$. The pH change ranged from pH 6.24 to 6.43 shortly after manufacture, and did not significantly change until 7 days of storage. However, it began to decrease rapidly after 14 days. On the 35th day of storage, the acidity was 0.79% in the PET vessel and 0.83% in OPP/AL/PE. Therefore, the PET vessel and OPP/AL/PE were considered appropriate packaging materials for Kimchi storage. The salinity did not change significantly during the storage period, and the sugar content generally increased in the four kinds of packaging materials, but decreasing after the 7th day of storage. After 14 days of storage, the Kimchi stored in the OPP/AL/PE film showed the highest lactic acid bacteria counts. Although the electron donating ability was the highest after proper time for fermentation, it decreased in all the packaging materials after the proper time for fermentation. However, the OPP/AL/PE film had an antioxidant potential of up to 93.18%. In the sensory evaluation, fermented Kimchi was found to be superior unfermented Kimchi. In addition, the Kimchi stored in the OPP/AL/PE film for 14 days showed the high score of 6.70 and 6.60 in overall preference. Therefore, the results of this study provide basic knowledge on the fermentation level and packaging material's condition for commercialization of small packed cabbage Kimchi. Henceforth, industrialization must include a variety of studies under these conditions to increase the merchantability.

  • Decomposition products by crosslinking reaction of PE using Dicumylperoxide(DCP) should influence on the electrical properties in XLPE. We used the Gas Chromatography for Decomposition Gases analysis FT-IR for investigating the behaviors of Decomposition products remained in XLPE Break Down Voltage Tester for Electrical Treeing measurement.

Partial Equilibrium Analysis and Long-run Equilibrium: Full Industry Equilibrium (부분균형분석과 장기균형: 산업완결균형)

  • The long-run equilibrium of an economy is a situation where all firms in the economy realize the condition of 'extra profits = 0'. The conventional partial equilibrium (PE) analysis, which is based on the assumption of 'ceteris paribus', conflicts logically with the long run equilibrium. 'Full industry equilibrium' (FIE) deals with long-run equilibrium in the framework of partial equilibrium; FIE requires the adjustment of more variables than PE. The comparative statics analysis of FIE shows that many results of the conventional PE does not hold. The present paper intends to introduce the background and significance of FIE. In its course, the paper discusses similarities and differences between FIE and the Capital Controversies of the 1960s and 1970s, and highlights the critical and constructive significances of FIE.

Electrical Properties of Molybdenum Metal Deposited by Plasma Enhanced - Atomic Layer Deposition of Variation Condition (다양한 조건의 플라즈마 원자층 증착법으로 증착된 Mo 금속의 전기적 특성)

  • Molybdenum is a low-resistivity transition metal that can be applied to silicon devices using Si-metal electrode structures and thin film solar cell electrodes. We investigate the deposition of metal Mo thin film by plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PE-ALD). $Mo(CO)_6$ and $H_2$ plasma are used as precursor. $H_2$ plasma is induced between ALD cycles for reduction of $Mo(CO)_6$ and Mo film is deposited on Si substrate at $300^{\circ}C$. Through variation of PE-ALD conditions such as precursor pulse time, plasma pulse time and plasma power, we find that these conditions result in low resistivity. The resistivity is affected by Mo pulse time. We can find the reason through analyzing XPS data according to Mo pulse time. The thickness uniformity is affected by plasma power. The lowest resistivity is $176{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at $Mo(CO)_6$ pulse time 3s. The thickness uniformity of metal Mo thin film deposited by PE-ALD shows a value of less than 3% below the plasma power of 200 W.

Effect of Packaging Method on the Storage Stability of Boiled-Dried Anchovy (건멸치의 저장안정성에 미치는 포장방법의 영향)

  • Changes in quality characteristics of boiled-dried anchovy during storage under different packaging conditions for 6 months were studied. For the packaging trials, kraft paper (KP), kraft paper laminated with 0.03 mm polyethylene film (KP/PE) and 0.1 mm polyethylene film with nitrogen gas substitution ($N_2$ gas) were employed. In case of KP, the reaction of thiobarbituric acid, browning rate of lipid oxidation and Hunter color values of L, a and b were remarkably higher than those packaged in KP/PE or $N_2$ gas. Judging from organoleptic evaluation boiled-dried anchovy could be preserved in acceptable condition for 6 months at $5^{\circ}C$in all packaging cases and, at room temperature, 3 months in KP and 4 months in KP/PE or $N_2$ gas. From the standpoint of quality stability by packaging methods, it was concluded as good in sequence as $N_2$, gas, KP/PE and KP. The results suggest that the quality of boiled-dried anchovy be well preserved by packaging with inert gas ($N_2$ gas) or impermeable material to vapors and oxygens.

Storage Stability of Fresh Jujube Fruits (Zizyphus Jujuba MILLER) (생대추(Zizyphus Jujuba MILLER) 저장성 연구)

  • In order to study storage stability of fresh jujube fruits (Zizyphus jujuba Miller) controlled atmosphere storage, polyethylene film packaging and non-packaging were compared. Jujube fruits were stored on the following gas compositions: 1.5% carbon dioxide and 5, 8, 10, 12% oxygen at $7^{\circ}C$, respectively. And 0.05 mm PE packaging and non-packaging were stored at $1^{\circ}C,\;4^{\circ}C\;and\;7^{\circ}C$. Safe storage period of Bokjo jujube fruits was four weeks when stored in CA condition of $O_2\;10%\;and\;CO_2\;1.5%$ in terms of their overall quality. The rate of weight loss was not much changed either by storage method of CA or by PE film packaging. In surface color the a value of jujube fruits increased but L and b values decreased during the storage period. Hardness showed the trend of increase in all the treatment for 2 weeks of storage while in CA it decreased more than the others after 4 weeks of storage. Soluble solids and titratable acidity were changed slightly. Vitamin C contents were gradually decreased in all treatments, but non-packed jujubes at $1^{\circ}C$ were slightly increased.

Polyethylenimine Mediated Gene Delivery with Various Liposomal Formulations (폴리에틸렌이민 및 그들의 리포좀이 중재된 Plasmid DNA의 운반)

  • The transfection efficiency of plasmid DNA was inspected using multi-cationic polymer, 5, 10, 25 and 50KD polyethylenimine (PEI). The optimal neutralization ratio of PEI/DNA complexes by agarose assay was 1.5-2.0 (nmol/nmol) without much difference in molecular weight of PEI.In vitro transfection assay, most of PEI-mediated plasmid delivery was better compared to the naked DNA. Especially, 25KD PEI at optimal condition gave higher transfection rather than the standard assay of DEAE-dextran or Lipofectin. To enhance the cell targeting delivery, the liposome formulations were introduced using phospholipids. As a result, PC/PE liposomes increased 2-2.5 times of the transfection efficiency of PEI single or PC/PE single delivery, but not the case of 25KD PEI. Moreover, the DOTAP/PE-introduced PEI delivery reduced the transfection of DOTAP/PE single delivery. All these results proved that the PEI can be used not only good transfectants and but also good DNA condensing agents in neutral/anionic liposome for cell targeting delivery.

  • Oxidized polyethylene wax is obtained by oxidation of polyethylene wax and it is composed of various chemicals, e.g., fatty acid, alcohol, ketone and ester. The application of oxidized polyethylene wax is determined by the composition of these chemical substances. In this basic study we observed the basic reaction parameters of time, temperature, oxygen concentration and catalysts on the oxidation reaction of low molecular weight polyethylene(PE wax) by analyzing the acid value, physical and chemical properties of oxidized PE wax to develop a new oxidation process. Acid values are increased with temperature increase in the rage of $150^{\circ}C^{\sim}180^{\circ}C$ but decreased beyond 190$^{\circ}C$. Acid values are also increased with oxygen concentration. As the oxidation reaction proceeds the molecular weight and softening points of oxidation products are decreased by cracking reaction, but the viscosities are increased. To observe the crystallinity of oxidation products SEM experiment was performed. To obtain a high acid-value product in a mild condition, we adopted free radical catalysts and the acid value of the product using catalyst was higher than the product obtained without catalyst in the same reaction condition. The effective initiators were dicumyl peroxide(DCPO), t-butylperoxy-2-ethyl hexanoate(HOPO) and benzoyl peroxide(BPO) having long half-life.
