This paper suggests a PDA-based scientific traffic accident investigation system in order to improve the reliability and accuracy of a traffic accident investigation procedure. In order to fulfill this objective, a standard accident sheet with 32 elements to be used in the PDA system was developed through a reference review and an expert survey. Using this information, the required functionalities and realization procedure of the PDA system for traffic accident investigation were presented including mobile network environment and GPS/GIS design. A prototype of PDA system is presented and more improved and efficientmanagement is highly expected by applying the system developed in this paper.

Recently, information-Ievel of the people has been increased with growing IT cutting-edge technology. There is a trend to combine these achievements with information-technology, ubiquitous technology, and mobile technology in the field of transportation. Along with this trend, a PDA-based traffic accident investigation device was developed. This paper established the evaluation method of feasibility test on the PDA device, and performed qualitative and quantitative evaluation as compared with the current practice (manual investigation). Test results showed that traffic accident investigation using the PDA device was faster and more convenient than manual investigation. It is expected that the reliability of accident investigation will be improved by applying this tool with minor modifications.

Handset 을 통한 m-Commerce 시장의 확장과 더불어 커머스를 기반으로 한 물류서비스, 무선 인트라넷, 모바일 증권거래 등에 PDA(Personal Digital Assistant)를 정보단말로 이용하는 서비스가 늘어나면서 PDA 무선 보안솔루션 개발에 관련된 관심이 잇따르고 있다. 특히 PDA 무선 보안솔루션은 무선 PKI를 비롯해 암호화 솔루션, 백신, 파이어월 등 다양한 분야에서 독특한 기술이 개발되고 있으며 보안분야의 새로운 시장을 형성할 것으로 기대된다. PDA 무선 보안 솔루션은 증권, 뱅킹 등에서 시도되어지고 있는 Application layer 에서 암호/복호화 하는 방식, 유선과 동일하게 브라우저/ 웹서버에서 제공하는 SSL 암호화 방식, SSL v3 및 TLS v1 과 호환되는 자체 암호화 모듈 방식등의 3 가지로 크게 나누어 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 WinCE OS 의 iPaq PDA 에 SSL v3 및 TLS v1 과 호환되는 자체 암호화 모듈 방식의 시스템을 설계한다. PDA 와 서버 간의 인증, 메시지 기밀성 및 무결성을 충족시킬 수 있는 보안 서비스를 제공하고 유선과 동일한 수준의 보안 수준을 유지하면서도 지금까지 무선 암호인증의 문제점이었던 소용량 무선단말기의 한계를 극복하는 PDA 용 무선 보안 솔루션을 설계하는데 목적을 두고 있다.

In this study, data transmission ratio and power consumption issues of Zigbee based sensor module and personal digital assistant(PDA) were addressed to develop ECG telemetry device. PDA processes the data transmitted through serial port using non-blocking method. The transmission rate was dependent on the packet structure. It was 300 ECG samples/sec, when each packet was composed of 2 ECG data and 3-axial acceleration vector. Using two AAA batteries in series, operating time of the wireless sensor module was above 28 hours in average. Power consumption of PDA was dependent on screen ON/OFF condition and serial port usage. In this application, operating time of PDA was 5 hours in average. In conclusion, there was no problem in the power consumption of wireless sensor module and transmission rate, when the developed device was used as 24 hour Holter device. But, PDA has the problem of power consumption, which should be solved.

In this paper, we propose real time automatic speaker verification (ASV) system to protect personal information on personal digital assistant (PDA) device. Recently, the capacity of PDA has extended and been popular, especially for mobile environment such as mobile commerce (M-commerce). However, there still exist lots of difficulties for practical application of ASV utility to PDA device because it requires too much computational complexity. To solve this problem, we apply the method to relieve the computational burden by performing the preprocessing such as spectral subtraction and speech detection during the speech utterance. Also by applying the hidden Markov model (HMM) optimal state alignment and the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT), we can get much faster processing results. The whole system implementation is simple and compact enough to fit well with PDA device's limited memory and low CPU speed.

Locally PDA has been utilized mainly as an alternative way of preforming pile loading tests. More than 30 units of PDA's are believed to be operating in Korea. It is true that PDA can provide useful information regarding bearing capacity, integrity, hammer performance, time effect, etc. However it is also true that inappropriate execution of PDA could result in harmful effects for the safety of the superstructure or causing delay in the construction process. In this paper several cases of inappropriate application of PDA are introduced. Most of the problems seemed to be caused by unqualified personnel who carry out testing and analysis. From the evaluation of the cases a proposal has been made for the proper application of PDA.

사람들은 종종 시를 다투는 업무를 접할 때, 작업할 문서를 집이나 사무실에 두고 오는 실수를 범하는 경우가 있다. 이런 경우를 대비하여 항상 노트북을 준비한다거나, 항상 집에 사람을 대기시켜 놓고 필요할 때마다 심부름을 시킬 수는 없는 노릇이다. 그래서 요즘 노트북에서 PDA, 이동전화기 같은 매체들이 이동 중에도 업무를 할 수 있는 이점 때문에 이 분야에 많은 관심이 증가하고 있고, 사용되어진다. 어떻게 하면 PDA와 같은 제한된 사양에서 우리가 사용하고 있는 PC와 같은 성능을 발휘할 수 있을지, 효과를 극대화 하기 위하여 많은 Solution이 나오고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 무선 인터넷을 이용하여 선이 있는 고정의 상태가 아닌, 이동중의 상황에서도 통신이 가능한 PDA의 특성을 활용하여 서로 다른 매체인 PC와 PDA를 사용한 상호 통신에 대한 것과, PC의 바탕화면 공유 및 입력장치 제어를 PDA에서 가능하게 하기 위한 방법을 제안한다.

인터넷 환경은 고정된 위치에서 사용하는 형태에서 이동하면서 사용하는 형태로 변화하고 있다. PDA 는 올해부터 CDMA 통신 모듈을 탑재한 PDA 폰과 무선랜 기능을 갖춘 이른바 '컨버전스 PDA'의 등장이 본격화할 것으로 보인다. 주요 PDA 업체들은 이미 CDMA 모듈을 장착한 PDA 폰과 무선랜 PDA를 주력 제품으로 내세우고 있다. 이러한 환경에서 VoIP 서비스, 메신저 서비스, 전자칠판을 이용하여 데이터를 공유, 전송하는 등의 공동작업 서비스 등 PDA 중심의 모바일 협동작업 서비스가 가장 유용한 서비스중의 하나로 부각될 것이다. 본문에서는 이러한 모바일 협동작업 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 서버에 요구사항을 정의하고 본문에서 채택한 SIP/SIMPLE 표준에 대하여 설명한 후 이를 기반으로 개발한 모바일 협동 작업 서버시스템에 대한 특징들을 설명한다.

In this paper, we implemented the monitoring and control of geothermal heating and cooling system using mobile devices. The main idea of this system is to provide the convenience if the system can be controled in remote place with monitoring using the mobile devices like PDA. Basically, the system consists of the Server-Client structure divided into two parts, one is PDA and PC, the other is PC and PLC(Programmable Logic Controller). The PDA, which is equipped with Windows CE as as, monitors the status of the devices (motors and sensors, etc) attached to PLC and controls them. This does the system to be controled by the commands, which we assume to control, with wireless transmission between PC and PLC. The PDA parts are responsible for monitoring and control the devices connected to the PLC, and the PC part which equipped with the application is to provide the relation between PDA and PLC.
