  • As SSDs are increasingly being used as high-performance storage or caches, attention is increasingly paid to the provision of SSDs with Quality-of-Service for I/O request streams of various applications in server systems. Since most SSDs are using the AHCI controller interface on a SATA bus, it is not possible to provide a differentiated service by distinguishing each I/O stream from others within the SSD. However, since a new SSD interface, the NVME controller interface on a PCI Express bus, has been proposed, it is now possible to recognize each I/O stream and schedule I/O requests within the SSD for differentiated services. This paper proposes Flash Operation Group Scheduling within NVME-based flash storage devices, and demonstrates through QEMU-based simulation that we can achieve a proportional bandwidth share for each I/O stream.

  • The terrestrial DMB receivers and their application products need many tests such as normal reception, reception state for the noisy environment, reception state changes due to the changes of output power of the DMB signal, and reception state of various environment. Therefore, the real-time simulation system of the terrestrial DMB broadcasting system is a necessity to the terrestrial DMB research institutions. manufacturers, and other related organizations. In the paper, we design the DMB simulation system, which generates the real-time streams of terrestrial DMB broadcast signals and simulates the real DMB broadcasting signals. The system consists of T-DMB signal generator with PCI interface and simulation software for various functional components of program. The study reveals that the implementation of software-based T-DMB simulation system is possible with low cost. Through various experiments, we evaluate the performance of the simulation system, and we provide the future directions of research.

  • Through the process of fermentation with Lactobacillus strains this study has evaluated the functionality of the traditional Korean medicine Bangpungtongsungsan after the addition of four other medicinal ingredients. In order to facilitate the growth of the Lactobacillus strains brown sugar was added to the herbal substances used. For both DPPH radical scavenging activities and SOD-like activities the medicinal mixture, when fermented through heterogeneous co-cultures, scored higher (at 77% and 42%, respectively) than when not fermented (at 31.7% and 36.3%, respectively). The co-cultured Korean medicine inhibited the growth of Bacillus subtilis PCI 219, Pseudomonas aeruginosa KCTC 2004, Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus KCTC 1916 and Propionibacterium acnes KCTC 3314. The inhibiting effects on ${\beta}$-hexosaminidase released from RBL-2H3 cells caused by the mixture, with and without fermentation, was seen to be similar (57% and 60%, respectively).

  • This paper describes hardware-based high speed multimedia data reassembly processor for remote multimedia Set-Top-Box(MSTB) of interactive satellite multimedia communication system. The conventional multimedia data reassembly scheme is based on software processing of MSTB. As increasing of transmission rate for multimedia data services, the CPU load of remote MSTB is increased and reassembly performance of MSTB is limited. To provide high speed multimedia data service to end user, we proposed hardware based high speed multimedia data reassembly processor. It is implemented by using an FPGA, a PCI interface chip, and RAMs. And it is integrated in MSTB and tested. It has been confirmed to meet required all functions and processing rate up to 116Mbps.

  • This paper studies the Internet stream server which serves multimedia stream services such as VoD and MoD. The Internet multimedia stream server is developed to provide 50 users with continuous multimedia stream contents simultaneously. This paper focuses on introducing design concepts, operation details and on evaluating system performance and doing sensitivity analysis with respect to the change of the system components. The performance evaluation is performed using simulation in order to identify the system component that mostly affects the system performance. The sensitivity analysis shows the service delay rates of the multimedia stream server depending on the user's service request pattern. Also, the analysis is made on the utilization rates of the core system components such as the PCI bus and the Ethernet card, and on the system performance change by adding more system components.

  • This paper is on the DSP system design and implementation for real time MPEG-2 AAC multichannel audio, and MPEG-4 object oriented audio coding. This DSP system employs two DSPs of the state of the art TMS320C6701, developed by TI semiconductor. DSP board has PCI interface for downloading application program and control the system. DSP board was designed to use for both encoder and decoder, by setting several switches. The system contains external input and output box also, for A/D and D/A conversion for eight channel audio. The input box converts multi channel digital audio to ADI format, that provides serial interface for eight channel digital audio. And the output box converts ADI format signal to multi channel audio. Through this ADI interface, DSP boards can be connected to input, output box. Implemented DSP system was tested for integration with MPEG-2 AAC encoder and decoder S/W. Currently the DSP system performs realtime AAC 4-channel audio encoding with two DSPs, and 8-channel decoding with one DSP.

  • In this paper, we implemented a CUDA Fortran parallel program to run the CFD_NIMR model on GP-GPU's, which simulates air diffusion on urban terrains. A GP-GPU is graphic processing unit in the form of a PCI card, and a general calculation accelerator to perform a large amount of high speed calculations with low cost and electric power. The GP-GPU gives performance enhancement of speed by 15 times to compare the Nvidia Tesla C1060 GPU with Intel XEON 2.0 GHz CPU. In addition, the program on a GP-GPU shows efficient performance compared to an MPI parallel program on multiple CPU's. It is expected that a proposed programming method on the GP-GPU parallel program can be used for numerical models with a similar structure.

  • Objectives: This case report presents the effects of Korean medical treatment in a patient with chest pain after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: An 80-year-old woman was treated with Korean herbal medicine, acupuncture, and cupping therapy. Chest pain, sore tongue, and headache were assessed daily using a numeric rating scale (NRS). Results: After 15 days of treatment, chest pain disappeared, as reflected by an NRS change from 9 to 0, and headache was relieved (NRS decreased from 9 to 2). On the eighth day of treatment, the sore tongue was also relieved, as reflected by an NRS change from 9 to 0. Conclusion: These results show that chest pain after PCI can be relieved with Korean medical treatment, and it is expected that major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) may be prevented with Korean medical treatment. However, additional well-designed studies are required to confirm these findings.

  • The process control methods based on the statistical analysis apply the analysis method or mathematical model under the assumption that the process characteristic is normally distributed. However, the distribution of data collected by the automatic measurement system in real time is often not followed by normal distribution. As the statistical analysis tools, the process capability index (PCI) has been used a lot as a measure of process capability analysis in the production site. However, PCI has been usually used without checking the normality test for the process data. Even though the normality assumption is violated, if the analysis method under the assumption of the normal distribution is performed, this will be an incorrect result and take a wrong action. When the normality assumption is violated, we can transform the non-normal data into the normal data by using an appropriate normal transformation method. There are various methods of the normal transformation. In this paper, we consider the Box-Cox transformation among them. Hence, the purpose of the study is to expand the analysis method for the multivariate process capability index using Box-Cox transformation. This study proposes the multivariate process capability index to be able to use according to both methodologies whether data is normally distributed or not. Through the computational examples, we compare and discuss the multivariate process capability index between before and after Box-Cox transformation when the process data is not normally distributed.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to find out of an effect of forward, backward walking using partial weight bearing on walking of the patient with incomplete spinal cord injury. Methods : The average age, and the term of being sick of 6 patients who were selected as the subjects with incomplete spinal cord injury and who received medical attention in the National Rehabilitation Hospital, was 50.3 years old, and 10.7 months, and those were also the patients that were classified as ASIA-C or D by ASIA. The forward, backward walking using a partial weight bearing system as the research method, took total 6 weeks, 3 days per week, 3 times per day, total 45 minutes for each time(15 minutes for a time, 5 minutes for a breathing time), and the 15 minutes was used for forward walking 7.30 minutes, backward walking for 7.30 minutes, to find out before and after the test of WISCI, PCI, Walking Speed, Motor Score of Lower Limbs for the selected patients with incomplete spinal cord injury. Results : The result was showed WISCI from 17 points to 17 points that is, no change occurred at all, and PCI from $161.01{\pm}103.06$ to $74.97{\pm}58.19$, some amount of reduction that is not statistically significant(p<.05). Regarding walking speed, it increased from $24{\pm}.07m/sec$ to. $61{\pm}.35m/sec$, that is statistically significant(p<.05), and motor score of lower limbs showed statistically significant increase like from $33.17{\pm}7.08$ to $37{\pm}5.14$(P<.05). Conclusion : The 4 evaluation categories seem to have shown differences due to an insufficient number of subjects, and short test term, and it seems the more diverse task-oriented walking exercises should be studied in the coming days.
