  • Due to the improvement of PC Performance and Windows-based OS, PC-based control system is gradually taking over industrial control in the industry site. In this paper, we suggest the method to configure PC-based fault diagnosis system of I/O cards and the method to generate test signals to find out the short conditions of adjacent channels of cables which connect I/O cards with terminal blocks.

  • Due to the improvement of PC performance and windows-based OS, PC-based control system is gradually taking over industrial control in the industry site, replacing the closed proprietary syste. PC-based system gives the avantages of ease-of-use, cost-effectiveness, simplicity of maintenace and the flexibility to design I/O system using standard technology. While there are many real time software soltions, most of hardware solutions are closed, vendor-depednent, proprietary systems for large scale plants. In this paper, we suggest the method to configure PC-based I/O system based on standard technology which gives the avantages to use off-the-shelf products for system integration.

  • High speed PC-based DIO(Digital I/O) system that consists of a master device and slave I/O devices is developed. The PCI interfaced master device controls all of serial communications, reducing the load on the CPU to a minimum. The slave device is connected from the master device and another slave device is connected to the slave device, it can repeated to maximum 64 slave devices. The slave device has 3 types I/O mode, such as 16 bits input-only, 16 bits output-only, and 8bits input-output. The master device has 2 rings which can take 64 slaves each. Therefore, total I/O points covered by the master is 2048 points. The slave features 3 types of input/output function interchangeability by DIP switch settings. Library, application, and device driver software for the DIO system that have a secure and a convenient functionality are developed.

  • In this paper, we designed a parallel I/O control system using IEEE 1284 operating modes and implemented remote control communication under the internet environment. The IEEE 1284 standard defines an interface compatible with several distinct operation modes and brings higher performance to the PC parallel port. Therefore, parallel port devices become easier to configure and simplify interface because new operating systems bring PnP function to the parallel port with the Device/ID identification sequence. With these enhancements, the parallel port become an even better low-cost, readily available I/O port on the PC.

  • The personal workspace consists of user- specified computing environment such as user profile, applications and their configurations, and user data. Mobile computing devices (i.e., cellular phones, PDAs, laptop computers, and Ultra Mobile PC) are getting smaller and lighter to provide personal work-space ubiquitously. However, various personal work-space mobility solutions (c.f. VMWare Pocket ACE[1], Mojopac[2], u-PC[3], etc.) are appeared with the advance of virtualization technology and portable storage technology. The personal workspace can be loaded at public PC using above solutions. Especially, we proposed a framework called ubiquitous personal computing environment (u-PC) that supports mobility of personal workspace based on wireless iSCSI network storage in our previous work. However, previous u-PC could support limited applications, because it uses IRP (I/O Request Packet) forwarding technique at filter driver level on Windows operating system. In this paper, we implement OS-level virtualization technology using system call hooking on Windows operating system. It supports personal workspace mobility and covers previous u-PC limitation. Also, it overcomes personal workspace loading overhead that is limitation of other solutions (i.e., VMWare Pocket ACE, Mojopac, etc). We implement a prototype consisting of Windows XP-based host PC and Linux-based mobile device connected via WiNET protocol of UWB. We leverage several use~case models of our framework for proving its usability.

  • In this paper, the development of an IMM(Injection Molding Machine) controller is discussed. Presently, the Mold Close and Open Control Method of a toggle-type IMM is open-loop control. Through the development, a PC based control system was built instead of an existing controller and a closed-loop control replaced the previous control method by using PC based PLC. To control the nonlinear system of toggle type clamping unit, a fuzzy PI control algorithm was selected and it was programmed by an IL(Instruction List) and a LD(Ladder Diagram) on a PC based PLC. The application of fuzzy algorithm as the control method was also considered to change a control object like a mold replacement or an additional apparatus. For the development of an IMM controller, PC based PLC of PCI card type, distributed I/O modules with CANopen and Industrial PC and HMI (Human Machine Interface) software were used.

  • This paper describes the antenna based GPS anti-jamming technology called CRPA(Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna), which used $2{\times}2$ array elements. In this system, the main functions are the antenna complex weight control and the GPS digital I/Q VM(Vector Modulator). To update the VM's I/Q complex weights, the PC based DAC(Digital to Analog Converter) module was also used and the two analog output voltages were applied to the $2{\times}2$ array elements to synthesize the null pattern. In the study, we also simulated the $2{\times}2$ GPS array null patterns to compare the null depth with experimental results. The VM was also modified at the frequency of 1.575GHz for the GPS L1 and controlled by the PC based VM software.

  • The PC cluster architecture is considered as a cost-effective alternative to the existing supercomputers for realizing a high-performance information retrieval (IR) system. To implement an efficient IR system on a PC cluster, it is essential to achieve maximum parallelism by having the data appropriately distributed to the local hard disks of the PCs in such a way that the disk I/O and the subsequent computation are distributed as evenly as possible to all the PCs. If the terms in the inverted index file can be classified to closely related clusters, the parallelism can be maximized by distributing them to the PCs in an interleaved manner. One of the goals of this research is the development of methods for automatically clustering the terms based on the likelihood of the terms' co-occurrence in the same query. Also, in this paper, we propose a method for duplicate distribution of inverted index records among the PCs to achieve fault-tolerance as well as dynamic load balancing. Experiments with a large corpus revealed the efficiency and effectiveness of our method.

  • 최근 윈도우즈 기반 운영체제의 발전과 PC의 성능 향상으로 제어분야에서의 PC 활용이 가속화되면서 PC 기반의 분산제어시스템이 등장하였고, 전력연구원에서는 화력발전소의 국산개발 배연탈황설비 제어시스템에 PC 기반 분산제어시스템을 도입하여 운용하고 있다. 이러한 PC 기반 분산제어시스템의 활용으로 하위구조에 다양한 종류의 입출력시스템을 선택 가능하게 되었고 시스템 구축에 대한 독자적인 방법을 채택할 수 있게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 국산개발 배연탈황설비에 적용된 PC 기반 분산제어시스템의 전반적인 구성을 살펴보고 제어프로세서인 현장제어유닛과 하위 입출력시스템의 하드웨어 구조, 상호간 통신 구조 및 시스템 이중화구조에 대하여 기술하고자 한다. 또한 입출력시스템 간의 인터페이스 방법과 입출력 모듈 종류에 따른 현장기기의 활용방법에 대하여 알아보고 향후 PC 기반 분산제어시스템의 입출력시스템 구축 시 고려하여야 할 사항들에 대하여 기술하고자 한다.

Development of RTOS Based LinuxCNC 3-axis Control System with EhterCAT Communication (RTOS기반 LinuxCNC에서 EtherCAT 통신이 적용된 3축 CNC 제어 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we proposed a PC-based CNC control system using EtherCAT-based servo drive and I/O device. The default communication of LinuxCNC is a parallel port, and data processing with high bandwidth is impossible. However, it is possible to apply various bandwidth devices through the application of EtherCAT, one of the industrial Ethernet communications with high bandwidth. Therefore, the hardware control method of LinuxCNC was applied through EtherCAT communication from the existing parallel port. Finally, through HAL configuration, I/O device operation check and 3-axis motion control proved the LinuxCNC system with EtherCAT.
