Implementation of DS-SS Modem-based Communication System for Long Distance Wireless-Transmission (원거리 무선전송을 위한 DS-SS 모뎀 기반의 통신시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, we proposed the DS-SS modem-based communication system for long distance wireless-transmission. The module we designed in this approach contained both convolution encoder and gold-code generator, which aimed at error correcting, T-DES encryption algorithm and spread-spectrum as well. It embodied PC-based GUI program in order to control the such command signal as data transceiver. This program also used to control the specific FPGA/MCU which is able to verify and interface to the modem. We demonstrated the communication system to verify its proper operation by using GUI program and designed hardware. A set of experiments are conducted and as a result, proposed communication system is well operated as the design specification.

  • In this paper, we describe application service development for secure land and marine transport based on CSD (Conveyance Security Device) systems. Based on CSD systems, we present application service and security service according to relevant standards as well as test procedure of developed services. Exploiting temperature, moisture, impact sensors, state monitoring function of container freight was developed to prevent disaster during transportation in addition to security function with CSD. For confidentiality of messages exchanged among application service entity and CSD systems, Encryption and decryption functions going by RC5 and AES-128 algorithms were implemented at desktop PC and 8 bit CPU environments, respectively. Measuring the elapsed time during encryption and decryption shows that two algorithms are allowable for the application service.

  • PC 보급 증대와 웹을 통한 네트워크의 발달은 많은 기업 비즈니스를 자동화시키고 있다. 본 논문에서는 SFA(Sales Force Automation)라는 기업 시스템 모델을 통해 기존 C/S 환경이 가졌던 여러 가지 단점들을 보완한 인터넷 환경의 컴포넌트화 된 새로운 SFA 시스템 구축 방법을 소개한다. 기존 C/S 환경은 Off-Line 방식의 업무처리, 각 지점의 PC 서버에 SFA 시스템의 인스톨로 인해 일부 프로그램상의 변경에도 모든 지점의 시스템을 유지 보수해야 하는 비효율.고비용의 시스템을 사용해왔다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안하는 새로운 SFA 시스템은 EJB(Enterprise Java Beans)라는 표준 컴포넌트 구조를 이용해 SFA 시스템을 구축한 것으로써 전국에 있는 각 지점들이 인터넷을 통해 접근 가능한 메인 서버 중심의 SFA 시스템이다. 이로 인한 장점으로는 메인 서버의 SFA 시스템의 인스톨만으로 전국 각 지점의 터미널과 서비스가 가능하고 On-Line 상의 실시간 업무처리가 가능하다는 것이다.

A Study of High Performance WebKit Mobile Web Browser (WebKit 모바일 웹 브라우저의 성능 향상을 위한 기법 연구)

  • As the growing popularity of smartphones, mobile web browsing has become one of the most important and popular applications in mobile devices. Furthermore, it is clear that the demand for PC-like full browser performance on mobile devices is increasing greatly. WebKit is an open source web browser engine adopted by Google Android. This paper proposed a technique of increasing the performance of WebKit by paralleling its libraries. This method was applied to JPEG library and the performance evaluation was conducted in PC environment. The results was used to estimate the performance prediction on multi-core mobile embedded architecture and to show the feasibility of the proposed method to estimate the performance gain on heterogeneous multi-core embedded architecture.

  • In recent, researchers in the field of Bioinformatics need to analyze thousands of genome sequences efficiently according to introduce of new analysis methods and technologies such as genome expression microchip. This rapid growth in the field of bio-engineering needs computing resources to analyze rapidly for genome sequences, but it does not introduce the computing resources due to an enormous investment expense. The core factor of this study is integrated environment based PC-Cluster system & high speed access rate up to 155Mbps, continuous collection system for bio-information at home and abroad. The results of the study are establishment & stabilization of information and communication infrastructure, establishment & stabilization of high performance computer network up to 155Mbps, development of PC-Cluster system with 32 nodes, a parallel BLAST on Cluster system, which can provides scalable speedup in terms of response time, and development of collection & search system for bio-information.

  • 최근 산업현장에서는 작업의 빈번한 변화에 따른 로봇의 재배치, 테스트로 인해 많은 비용이 소모되고 있다. 이러한 문제점의 해결방안으로 OLP(Off-line Programming) 시뮬레이션 시스템이 주목받고 있다. 현재 대부분의 OLP 시뮬레이션 시스템은 하나의 컴퓨터에서 실행되는 하나의 응용프로그램으로 되어있다. 따라서 로봇을 제어하는 시뮬레이션 프로그램이 복잡해지고 시뮬레이션 대상이 되는 작업장의 규모가 커지게 되면 이와 비례하여 시뮬레이션에 소모되는 시간이 늘어나게 되고 이로 인하여 시뮬레이션 진행상황을 실시간에 맞추어 출력하지 못하게 되는 경우가 발생하게 된다. 또한 하나 컴퓨터에서 실행되는 응용 프로그램의 한계로 인해 시뮬레이션 상황을 출력하는 화면크기는 제한될 수밖에 없어지고 여러 작업장의 시뮬레이션 진행상황을 동시에 확인하기가 힘들어 진다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 하나의 PC에서 실행되는 OLP 시뮬레이션 시스템을 사용자가 지정하는 로봇의 집합 단위로 네트워크로 연결된 여러 개의 PC에서 실행할 수 있도록 하여 다수의 로봇 제어 프로그램을 실행하는데 걸리는 부하와 시뮬레이션 진행 상황을 출력하는 CAD시스템에 걸리는 부하를 분산 시키고 연결된 여러 PC를 통해 시뮬레이션 진행상황을 자유롭게 확인할 수 있는 구조를 제안하였다. 그리고 시뮬레이션 시스템의 분산화로 인해 발생하는 동기화 문제에 대한 해결 방안으로 기존 시스템에 사용되는 이벤트/사이클 혼합 방식의 로봇 시뮬레이션 시스템의 알고리즘을 분산시킨 방안을 제시하였다.

A Study on PCS for ML-Based Electrical Propulsion System (ML 기반의 전기추진시스템을 위한 PCS에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposes a PCS that enables efficient operation of seawater pumps for ships by implementing ML-based algorithms. Seawater temperature, RPM and power consumption data are acquired from two ships with PCS, analyzed with regression analysis method, and new algorithms are presented. Using the algorithms presented, Ship A saved about 36% compared to the PCS application, and ML-based algorithms in certain sea temperatures of 19 to 27 degrees Celsius and above 32 degrees Celsius were about 1% lower than Ship A's PCS. Ship B saved about 50% compared to PCS not applied, and about 2% more than Ship B's PCS in waters above $19^{\circ}C$, a specified sea temperature. The derived data can be used to suggest the optimum pump speed and sea route. In addition, the trend of acquired data can be used to infer the performance of the pump or the timing of elimination of the MGPS when efficiency becomes poor.

  • In this paper, we present the results of educational innovation case study using U-Learning Box and Ubiquitous-based Test(UBT) system for 6 sample primary schools in Nepal. As Nepal is considered to be a developing country with electricity problem to the school, the U-Learning Box, consisting of a small and easy-to-use tablet PC for teacher and a small smart beam with its own battery was evaluated as the optimum solution to support continuous basic English and hygiene education for these schools. And UBT technology using tablet PC was used to evaluate and analyze basic English learning ability of the students, which helped us realized that it is necessary to improve the educational environment and develop suitable educational contents. We hope that the global educational innovation using U-Learning Box and UBT technology will become a successful model for global equality of educational opportunity project for developing countries including Nepal.

Image Compression System Implementation Based on DWT (DWT 기반 영상압축 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, a system which can compress and reconstruct the digital image was implemented using 2 dimensional DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform). The proposed system consists of the FPGA board tocompress the image and the application software(S/W) to reconstruct it. First the FPGA receives the image from AID converter and compresses the image using wavelet transform. The compressed data is transferred into the PC using the PCI interface. The compressed image is reconstructed by an application S/W inside the PC. The image compressor can compress about 60 fields per second, in which the image format was NTSC YCbCr(4:2:2) and the image size was 640${\times}$240 pixels per field. The designed hardware mapped into one FPGA occupying 11,120 LAB (Logic Array Block) and 27,456 ESB(Embedded System Block) in APEX20KC EP20K1000B652-7. It globally uses 33MHz clock and the memory control part uses 100MHz.

PDA based Bluetooth Wireless Radiation Counter (PDA기반의 블루투스 무선통신 방사선 측정 장치)

  • This study developed a PDA based wireless communication radiation measuring instrument using Bluetooth. The proposed system is composed of Student Radiation Monitor of Vernier using GM (Geiger Mueller) counter tube as a radiation measuring sensor, LabPro of Vernier as a module for data collection, Promi SD 101 of Initium, which can make Bluetooth communication up to 30 m, for wireless data transmission, and HP 5550 embedded with Pocket PC 2003 as OS for data storage and display. Because GM counter tube is used as a radiation measuring sensor, the system cannot measure radiation energy but measures count volume and count rate. When the result of natural radiation measuring by the PDA based system was compared with that by a PC based system, it was found that the proposed system transmits and receives data without distortion.
