The investigation of the utilization of enriched 208Pb as a coolant to enhance the performance of a long-life fast reactor with a Modified CANDLE (Constant Axial shape of Neutron flux, nuclide densities, and power shape During Life of Energy production) burnup scheme has performed. The analyzes were performed on a reactor with thermal power of 800 MegaWatt Thermal (MWTh) with a refueling process every 15 years. Uranium Nitride (enriched 15N), 208Pb, and High-Cr martensitic steel HT-9 were employed as fuel, coolant, and cladding materials, respectively. One of the Pb-nat isotopes, 208Pb, has the smallest neutron capture cross-section (0.23 mb) among other liquid metal coolants. Furthermore, the neutron-producing cross-section (n, 2n) of 208Pb is larger than sodium (Na). On the other hand, the inelastic scattering energy threshold of 208Pb is the highest among Na, natPb, and Bi. The small inelastic scattering cross-section of 208Pb can harden the neutron energy spectrum. Therefore, 208Pb is a better neutron multiplier than any other liquid metal coolant. The excess neutrons cause more production than consumption of 239Pu. Hence, it can reduce the initial fuel loading of the reactor. The selective photoreaction process was developing to obtain enriched 208Pb. The neutronic was calculated using SRAC and JENDL 4.0 as a nuclear data library. We obtained that the modified CANDLE reactor with enriched 208Pb as coolant and reflector has the highest k-eff among all reactors. Meanwhile, the natPb cooled reactor has the lowest k-eff. Thus, the utilization of the enriched 208Pb as the coolant can reduce reactor initial fuel loading. Moreover, the enriched 208Pb-cooled reactor has the smallest power peaking factor among all reactors. Therefore, the enriched 208Pb can enhance the performance of a long-life Modified CANDLE fast reactor.

This study examined the purchasing behavior and satisfaction of people with convenience store PB foods. The factors affecting the purchasing behavior and the overall satisfaction with the convenience store PB foods were examined. This study first found that the purchasing motivation of PB foods is the cheaper price than NB foods. Second, age is a statistically effective variable for the visit frequency at the convenience store and gender and age are effective variables for the purchase frequency of PB foods. Third, there is a statistically positive correlation of convenience store brand preference with the PB food brand preference for 6 food categories. Next, in terms of the attribute-level satisfaction, the most satisfied areas are diverse food groups and diverse food taste and the least satisfied areas is price. This is followed by taste and design/packaging influence overall satisfaction. From this analysis, the following suggestions were drawn. First, because consumers are likely to be matched convenience store brand preference and PB food brand preference, advertising is necessary to ensure that the consumers continue to visit the convenience store. Second, product improvement by increasing the quality should be designed to motivate the major consumer group of people in their 20s and 30s. Finally, to boost PB food satisfaction, the industry should improve the taste and design/packaging.
Absorption of $\textrm{Pb}^{2-}$ from aqueous solution was studied using Staphylococcus epidermidis. Cells of exponential phase were employed as absorbents. Uptake ratio defined as the ratio of amount of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ absorbed to that of initial $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$. Absorption of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ increased with increase in cell concentration. while amount of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ per unit cell mass decreased. Uptake ratio of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ augmented and then diminished after exhibiting a maximum as the pH of the solution increased. Equilibrium absorption of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ deviated from Freundlich isotherm especially at higher concentration of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ due to the precipitation phenomena. HCI and EDTA were founded to desorb $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ more effectively than $\textrm{Na}_{2}\textrm{CO}_{3}$ or $\textrm{NaHCO}_{3}$. After 10 cycles of absorption and desorption. $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ absorption capability remained almost unchanged and the biomass had leaked out 30-40 wt/%. Uptake ratio of Pb2+ decreased in the presence of other heavy metal ions due to the competitive absorption The inhibition of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ absorption appeared to have a strong correlation with ionic radius of the competing ions. Especially $\textrm{Cr}^{3-}$, $\textrm{Co}^{2+}$ or $\textrm{Fe}^{2+}$ having smaller ionic radius depressed more significantly the uptake of $\textrm{Pb}^{2+}$ than any other metal ions tested.
This study aimed to measure, quantitatively evaluate, and set the criteria for the minimum lead(Pb) shield thickness per level of clinically applied electron beam energy. The lead shield thickness per electron beam energy was measured using the primary field 95% reduction based on the open field at the depth of maximum dose (dmax) and depth from the surface as the reference depth of tissue dose(10 mm). The measured values were 1.906 mmPb and 1.992 mmPb at the dmax and 10 mm, respectively, regarding the lead shield thickness for 6 MeV electron beam; 2.746 mmPb and 3.743 mmPb for 9 MeV electron beam, 3.718 mmPb and 6.093 mmPb for 12 MeV electron beam, 7.300 mmPb and 15.270 mmPb for 16 MeV electron beam, and 16.825 mmPb and 25.090 mmPb for 20 MeV electron beam. Consequently, a thicker lead shield was required if the measurement was at 10 mm. The required lead shield thickness was also higher than that of the theoretical formula for electron beams of ≥ 16 MeV.

The present study evaluated the major lead sources in a steel metallurgy industrialized city by measuring lead isotopes/lead concentrations of ambient air and potential sources in an industrial area and residential areas according to relative distance. The quality control program obtained during the measurement procedure for lead isotopes and concentrations exhibited $0.5ng/m^3$ for method detection limit, more than 90% for recoveries of standard particulate matters, and lower than 0.2% for reproducibility errors of four lead isotopes ($^{204}Pb$, $^{206}Pb$, $^{207}Pb$, $^{208}Pb$). For all three lead isotope ratios ($^{206}Pb/^{204}Pb$, $^{207}Pb/^{206}Pb$, $^{208}Pb/^{206}Pb$), the ratios were obtained in the industrial area were closer to nearby residential area than those of a residential area far away from the industrial area, thereby suggesting that lead sources were more similar each other in the industrial and nearby residential area. Furthermore, for both summer and winter seasons ambient lead concentrations were more than four times higher in the industrial area than in the residential areas and in turn, they were higher in the nearby residential area compared with the far-away residential area. As a result, it was suggested that lead emitted from the industrial area would influence more the ambient lead in the nearby residential area than the far-away residential area. Both slag and traffic emissions are likely to be major lead sources in the industrial and nearby residential areas, since their three lead isotope ratios ($^{206}Pb/^{204}Pb$, $^{207}Pb/^{206}Pb$, $^{208}Pb/^{206}Pb$) were similar to the ratios obtained from ambient air of these two areas. In addition, the lead isotope ratios revealed different pattern between seasons, and the ambient lead concentrations were higher for winter than for summer.
The contamination of the environment by heavy metals results in a serious public health problem due to the toxicity of those pollutants even at low concentrations. Microorganisms may be used to remediate wastewaters contamlialtd with heavy metals. The waste S. cerevisiae is an inexpensive readily available source of biomass for bioremediation of wastewater. S. cerevisiae was investigated for their ability to absorb Pb. The crushed biomass of S. cerevisiae exhibited higher Pb uptake capacity than the living S. cerevisiae and the sterilized S. cerevisiae. At the same metal concentration, metal uptake per unit concentration or adsorbent decreased when the biomass concentration rises. The order of the biosorption capacity of the living S. cerevisiae was Pb>Cu>Cd=Co>Cr. When S. cerevisiae was pretreated with 0.1 M NaOH, Pb uptake was increased by 150 percent and 0.1 M HC1, 0.1 M $H_2S_O4$ solutions were efficient in the desorption of Pb. The sorption equilibrium of Pb ions can be described by the Freundlich and Langmuir models.
In this study, behaviors of removing Sb and Pb by oxidation of molten Bi-Pb-Sb alloy which is a by-product of non-ferrous smelting process was investigated. The molten alloy was oxidized at 1173 K by bubbling $N_2+O_2$ gas through a submerged nozzle. The Sb was removed and recovered as mixed phase of $Sb_2O_3$ and metal Sb. In the case of bubbling $N_2+O_2$ gas into molten Bi-Pb alloy at 923 K, Pb was oxidized and removed to slag. But Bi could not be refined due to simultaneous oxidization of Bi with Pb.
The study subjects included the workers who were estimated to have been exposed in a low density of lead-laden glaze from pottery manufacturers. They were evaluated in terms of PbB and PbU as indices of lead concentration in the body, and Hb, Hct, ALAD, and FEP as indices of biochemical lead poisoning. Consequently, the study results revealed the relationship between each of indices and its effectiveness to indicate the degree of occupational lead exposure. 1. The mean of PbB was $22.85{\;}{\mu}g/d{\ell}$(range; $4.2~44.7{\;}{\mu}g/d{\ell}$) and PbU $45.69{\mu}g/d{\ell}$(range; $6.7~87.5{\mu}g/d{\ell}$), to indicate the level of lead exposure in the subjects. 2. While there was a high, linear correlation between PbB, PbU and FEP (r=0.835, r=0.855, respectively), a low correlation existed between PbB and ALAD(r=-0.240). 3. While there was a high, linear correlation between PbU and FEP(r=0.825), a low correlation existed between PbU and ALAD(r=-0.352). The above results suggest that FEP can be used as a highly useful biochemical index of lead poisoning, based on its high correlation with PbB and PbU indicating lead concentration in the body.
$PbTiO_3$ thin films have been formed by rapid thermal annealing(RTA) of $TiO_2$/Pb/$TiO_2$ multilayer films deposited on Si wafers by RF sputtering. Based on the optimal depositon conditions of TiO2 and Pb, $TiO_2$/Pb/$TiO_2$ three layers were deposited for 900$\AA$ each. These films were subjected to RTA process at the temperatures ranging from $400^{\circ}C$ to $900^{\circ}C$ for 30 seconds in air, and were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy to investigate the phases and the microstructures. As a result, perovskite $PbTiO_3$ phases was obtained above $500^{\circ}C$ with the trace of unreacted $TiO_2$. RBS analysis revealed the anisotropic behavior of diffusion that the diffusivity of Pb to the bottom $TiO_2$ layer was faster than that of Pb to the top $TiO_2$ layer. The amorphous Pb-silicate was formed between film and Si substrate due to the diffusion of Pb, but Pb-silicate existed locally at the interface and the amount of that phase was very small. Therefore the effect of bottom $TiO_2$ layer as a diffusion barrier was confirmed. $PbTiO_3$ films formed by current technique showed a relative dielectric constant of 60, and the maximum breakdown field reached 170kV/cm.

PbS, CuS and (Pb,Cu)S thin films were chemically deposited on glass from alkaline baths containing lead acetate, copper chloride, thiourea and triethanolamine. The deposition, optical, resistivity and thermal electric properties of these films were studied. PbS thin films showed a hexagonal structure and CuS thin films showed amorphous. The crystalline of (Pb,Cu)S thin films was obtained by heat treatment at 200$\^{C}$ and the deposition ratio of Pb to Cu showed 7:3. The energy gap of PbS, CuS and (Pb,Cu)S thin films were 1.7, 2.1 and 2.4 eV, respectively. Sheet resistance of PbS thin films was less affected on thermal annealing, but hose of (Pb,Cu)S and CuS thin films were more reduced about 3 orders of magnitude. All of those thin films indicated p type semiconductor in temperature ranging 30$\^{C}$ to 150$\^{C}$.
