  • According to the reports by the OECD and UN in 2012, Korea is evaluated highly of its enthusiasm and level of education compared to other evaluation indices. This result implies that Korea has much more interest in education than other countries. In reality however, the nation does not provide an adequate condition in other aspects such as the quality of life of citizens and its educational environment. For this reason, our country currently promotes and operates various policies and environmental improvements in an effort to coincide with the timely demands and to cope up with the advanced educational system. Researches in particular are being implemented on Korea's current educational policies by specialists related to their specific fields. This study is to understand the periodic trends of the educational facilities according to the specialist-oriented articles and apply it as a basic resource to the future researches on the corresponding field.

  • The university administration building is one of the most important structure in campuses in terms of its functional roll providing all the institutional services and its symbolic value that represents the school. But we can still find many universities carrying on without administration buildings, And even though in the cases that have their own administration buildings, the architectural qualities of the buildings often can not meet the basic requirements for a worthwhile administration building. Because of its complex and complicated nature, planning and designing university administrative facilities are not an easy task to be successful. This study aims to provide the basic directions in designing university administration building through the survey of the facilities in the existing campuses.

  • In Korea, it is urgently required to develop the health care facilities and services for People with dementia. The progression of dementia is associated with a gradual decline in functional, cognitive, emotional, and social abilities. Therefore, architectural design for People elderly with dementia should be focused to maintain and preserve this abilities. This study aims to derive the design guidelines of the ward and patient roon unit planning to maintain this abilities in the health care facilities for People with dementia. For this, investigation and analysis through the case studies of domestic and foreign facilities and P.O.E of domestic facilities were performed.

  • Recently the countries breeding bears such as China and Vietnam are promoting a policy that gives relief to wild animals through agreement with AAF and WSPA. Currently our country has lacking breeding space for the increased number of bred bears due to the prohibition of bear import and export from joining the CITES in 1992. There needs to be a place that treats, protects accepts breed bears in the terms of animal welfare. The bear park was hoped to be designed as a means to give relief to bears and promote harmony with the local society, and is made of parking area, waiting area, visitors center, treatment research management facilities, restaurants, food warehouse, food store, bear museum, sanitation facilities, gondola, plaza, rehabilitation area for wild animals, outdoor exhibition center, direct indirect experience area of wild animals, resting facilities and areas, photo zones, bear playground, bear experiencing facilities, fences, information facilities, tree protection facilities and more. The design can be used as a reference in examining alternative measures following the future change in breeding policy as a bear park example which reflected the ecology of a bear in the term of animal welfare.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the function and scale on aspect of construction planning with examples of exhibition and convention facilities constructed recently in domestic and foreign area. Also, it was to provide the result for basic data for construction planning and architecture of similar facilities constructed later. The study methodles, but they had characteristics to use the space with compound purpose for exhibition, conference, etc through installing multi-purpose hall. Finally, for effective construction planning of exhibition and convention facilities, it was required to decrease the ratio of common area gradually and derive rationalization of whole space composition by deriving complexity of function rather than planning of single purpose of each facility for exhibition and conference function. was to analyze the characteristics of construction planning for composition and scale of exhibition, conference, public use, support, maintenance functions, etc and placement composition of unit rooms by each floor on the basis of internal area of exhibition and convention facility in Korea and Japan. As the result of analyzing 10 examples(K1~J5), the placement of auditorium and multi-purpose hall was affected according to location of exhibition room and conference room in the composition of unit rooms by each floor and the installment ratio of support facility in Korean examples was higher than in Japanese examples. In case of facility scale, the Japanese examples were overall small in the whole scale relatively to Korean examp.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine whether public services in rural areas performed the functions of public interest value that benefited all residents of rural areas. Therefore, the results were derived through spatial distribution and population characteristics analysis at the level of basic living service facilities. As a result, the status of spatial distribution in the Favorable and Vulnerable areas of rural villages and the status of population distribution in the vulnerable areas was analyzed for retail, child care and medical facilities. In the case of retail facilities, it was found that more than 80.0% of the country's farming villages were distributed in the favorable areas that could be reached within 15 minutes. In the case of child care facilities, 91.5% of the total number of favorable areas could be reached within 15 minutes, and the distribution of child care facilities nationwide was deemed proper. In the case of medical facilities, 90.8% or more villages could be reached within 15 minutes of travel time as a lawmaker, and in the case of hospitals and emergency medical services, 92.7% of hospitals and 68.2% of emergency medical services were analyzed as favorable areas. Through these results, the government intends to establish objective spatial data in rural areas to provide basic information on policy directions and contribute to planning.

  • Carbon emission calculation guidelines provided by the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation (MOLIT) and existing environmental load assessment studies have suggested a method for estimating based on the volume determined after the design development. Therefore they are not being helpful in the decision making of the environmental economics of road facilities in the planning stage in which specific information on construction output volume is lacking. Based on literature analysis of existing studies and consultation from a group of construction environmental professionals, 12 types of property information considered to be related to environmental load were selected from an inventory of information that will be available in the road planning stage. In addition, multiple regression analysis was performed based on the environmental load computed through the life cycle assessment (LCA) of 40 national highway project cases of Korea to deduce five impact factors of environmental load in the road facilities planning stage.

  • A park will soon be developed in an area of Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin-gu. The place has been a patch of green space for years, isolated by driveways and apartment complexes and abandoned. This article describes plans to infuse the abandoned green space with history, ecology, culture, and sports. The facilities that are to be constructed in and around the green space are positioned to take into account the path of the sun and the location of the curvilinear green space axis. The cultural space is planned as a centerpiece of the park, linked with the sports facilities. The overall framework is arranged in harmony with nearby elementary schools, parks, public facilities, athletic facilities, parking lots, and apartment complexes. The themed circulation route was constructed according to the environmental conditions and the spatial plan. In addition, the historical space is planned to work in close conjunction with the cultural space, and the streets and pedestrian pathways have characters of their own. The established contour lines will be carefully preserved, and an ecological pond will. The facilities, such as the outdoor performance stage, the outdoor art gallery, the Monument of Wind represented by a sail, and the pedestrian bridge in memory of Acha-sansung, are positioned for spatial balance and to provide a nexus. The bamboo forest, designed to foster the experience of sound effects, the architectural thematic plants, and the ecological pond are positioned to connect to each other around the greenspace axis. The main facilities are the outdoor theater, the bamboo forest, the Acha-sansung bridge, the Monument of Wind, the ecological pond, the four-season flower garden, parking lots, playgrounds, circulatory athletic pathways, and the tennis court.

  • The snow control storage facilities have the physical requirements that are an anti-icing and deicing operations. They are efficiently and quickly performed, and composed of a vehicle depot for the snow removal equipment and truck, anti-icing and deicing chemical storages, and the control utilities. This study is to investigate the planning guidance of foreign countries, and the actual conditions of the snow control chemical storage facilities for expressway, the national highway and the local road, and is to suggest the planning guidelines. As some of the authorities have no fixed structures for the snow control storage, this study analyze the 5 cases constructed lately. From the result of the case studies, the operations performed in the snow control storage facilities and drawback of the facilities are analyzed with respect to layout, size, plan, and structure, and the improvement planning guidance is also suggested.
