  • In this article, we show a generalization of Clement's theorem on the pair of primes. For any integers n and k, integers n and n + 2k are a pair of primes if and only if 2k(2k)![(n - 1)! + 1] + ((2k)! - 1)n ${\equiv}$ 0 (mod n(n + 2k)) whenever (n, (2k)!) = (n + 2k, (2k)!) = 1. Especially, n or n + 2k is a composite number, a pair (n, n + 2k), for which 2k(2k)![(n - 1)! + 1] + ((2k)! - 1)n ${\equiv}$ 0 (mod n(n + 2k)) is called a pair of pseudoprimes for any positive integer k. We have pairs of pseudorimes (n, n + 2k) with $n{\leq}5{\times}10^4$ for each positive integer $k(4{\leq}k{\leq}10)$.

  • This paper proposes a new temperature-compensative displacement sensor with a pair of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) attached to the inner and outer surfaces of an elastic metal band. The sensor can be also used as a temperature sensor with high sensitivity. The FBG pair shifted Bragg wavelengths in the same direction according to changes in the temperature. However, because the pressure of the metal band shifted a pair of Bragg wavelengths in the opposite direction, the displacement sensor could compensate for the effect of the temperature change in the proposed FBG pair. Results of the experiments showed that the two FBG displacement sensors responded linearly and symmetrically with respect to the displacement, and the displacement could be obtained using the difference between the two Bragg wavelengths.

  • In this study, we experimentally investigate the equivalent ring theory for a slightly asymmetric ring. The slightly asymmetric ring has mode pair and frequency pair due to the small asymmetry and this mode pair generates beat in vibration and sound. In this paper, a slightly asymmetric ring is modeled as the equivalent ring, i.e., the assemblage of a symmetric ring and imperfect point masses. The equivalent ring has the same mode pair condition as that of the original asymmetric ring. Effect of the additional mass attachment is investigated by the equivalent ring theory and the result is compared with those of the measurement and the finite element analysis. It is confirmed that the original ring and the equivalent ring show the same change in frequency and mode under the various additional imperfection mass conditions. The equivalent ring theory explains how the asymmetric elements influence the mode characteristics and provides useful information to tune the beat property.

  • In this paper, an iterative method is proposed to solve the least-squares problem of matrix equation AXB+CYD=E over unknown matrix pair [X, Y]. By this iterative method, for any initial matrix pair [$X_1,\;Y_1$], a solution pair or the least-norm least-squares solution pair of which can be obtained within finite iterative steps in the absence of roundoff errors. In addition, we also consider the optimal approximation problem for the given matrix pair [$X_0,\;Y_0$] in Frobenius norm. Given numerical examples show that the algorithm is efficient.

  • Reduction gear with internal gear pair need functions such as compact size, high reduction ratios, high transmission efficiency, and low noise. Feasible design region of the internal gear pair with a small tooth difference is extremely limited because the internal gear pair is subject to interference in meshing and cutting. Single-objective optimal design can not simulataneously satisfy the manifold requirements of the internal gear pair and can not determine the economical specification of a pinion cutter. Multi-objective optimal design which include the specification of the pinion cutter in design variables is developed, considering the manufacturing error of an internalgear pair and the re-sharpening of the pinion cutter.

  • The DEM (Digital Elevation Model) can be obtained from stereo image pair acquired by LEO satellite. Stereo images may consist of at least two images with different viewing angles to the imaging target for one pass or multiple passes. While each image is generally acquired from each pass in cross-track direction for multiple passes, stereo image pair in along-track direction can be acquired during one pass with attitude control capability for the pitch axis of the satellite. Single pass stereo imaging provides stereo pair image more efficiently on the fact that stereo pair image is generated with less orbit resources and less imaging time consumption. In this paper, the feasibility study result on the stereo pair image collection planning algorithm during single pass is addressed.

  • A pair of pants $\sum(0,\;3)$ is a building block of oriented surfaces. The purpose of this paper is to determine the discrete conditions for the holonomy group $\pi$ of hyperbolic structure of a pair of pants. For this goal, we classify the relations between the locations of principal lines and entries of hyperbolic matrices in $\mathbf{PSL}(2,\;\mathbb{R})$. In the level of the matrix group $\mathbf{SL}(2,\;\mathbb{R})$, we will show that the signs of traces of hyperbolic elements playa very important role to determine the discreteness of holonomy group of a pair of pants.

  • Second derivative (D2) spectrometry using ion-pair extraction technique was development for the determination of total glycyrrhetic acid (GA) in Glycyrrhizae Radix, Glycyr-rhizin (G) obtained from Glycyrrhizae Radix was hydrolyzed into GA in 2 N-HCI and methanol (1:1) and extracted from aqueous phase in the form of an ion-pair complex with tetrapentylammonium bromide (TPA) as a counter ion. Maximum D2 amplitude (Z value) was obtained when 1000-fold or greater molar ratio of TPA was used at pH 11. Reaction an effective extraction solvent of the ion-pair complex. The linearity of standard curve of ion-pair GA was obtained in the range of 4.120 $\mu$g/ml as GA. Assayed contents of GA in dry powder by D2 UV spectrometry and HPLC method were 5.31 $\pm$ 0.04% and 5.20 $\pm$ 0.008%, respectively.

  • In this paper, we extend the concept of the group ${\varepsilon}(X)$ of self homotopy equivalences of a space X to that of an object in the category of pairs. Mainly, we study the group ${\varepsilon}(X,\;A)$ of pair homotopy equivalences from a CW-pair (X, A) to itself which is the special case of the extended concept. For a CW-pair (X, A), we find an exact sequence $1\;{\to}\;G\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(X,\;A)\;{to}\;{\varepsilon}(A)$ where G is a subgroup of ${\varepsilon}(X,\;A)$. Especially, for CW homotopy associative and inversive H-spaces X and Y, we obtain a split short exact sequence $1\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(X)\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(X{\times}Y,Y)\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(Y)\;{\to}\;1$ provided the two sets $[X{\wedge}Y,\;X{\times}Y]$ and [X, Y] are trivial.

  • Optical-optical double resonance experiments have been used to identify and characterize five ion-pair states and several of the bound and repulsive valence states of ClF. This report provides a description of these experiments for $^{35}CIF$ and $^{37}CIF$, and a summary of the current knowledge of the valence and ion-pair states. The important role of perturbations among the rovibronic levels of the bound valence states and their utilization in the double resonance technique is discussed. The ion-pair states of the same symmetry, ${\Omega}$=$0^+$ (E and f) and 1( $\beta$ and G) interact very strongly and the spectroscopy of these states is anomalous and, hence, interesting. Comparison is made to some recent ab initio calculations for ClF. One possible explanation of the irregular vibrational energy levels and rotational constants of the ion-pair states of $O^+$ and 1 symmetry is a crossing of the diabatic potentials of these states. Some currently unresolved questions about ClF spectroscopy are posed for future work. Where appropriate, analogy is made between the electronic states of ClF and the corresponding valence and ion-pair states of $Cl_2.$.
